 It was the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. A day of new beginning and fateful encounters. It was also hot, the kind of weather that left you sticky and uncomfortable. Atreyu was out in the heat, he wanted a new beginning. His old girlfriend had totally disappeared and everyone was telling him it was time to move on. "If this is a day of fateful encounters then I'm bound to meet someone or I'll be destine to be alone, either way I got to get out there to find out.' The main camp seemed totally empty, and the ladies that were out were taken, "well I guess I'll go to the river and cool off." He relaxed a bit and walked to the river ready to slip in to the rushing invigorating waters.

 Aura had been looking around the camp, seeing all the 'bathing beauties'...more like airheads to her and their male consorts. 'Ugh...all a bunch of boobs...' She thought to herself as she flew above them all, the sun shining brilliantly on her black and blue/purple fur and wings, causing it to shimmer. "All they do is judge..." She said to herself softly. She liked to stay to herself most of the time, with her adopted family who she had grown quite attached to, or her human who was quite like she was.
No one really understood her...but they never really took the time, just because of the way she looked. Her dark coloring with the 'blue/purple' flame-like colorings caused others to shy away...apparently they also didnt like the fact that she liked the night time more than day either. "The world is so ....." She sighed heavily then spotted a river a bit away from camp and decided that she needed to cool off so she dropped down swiftly and like an eagle diving down to scoop up it's prey, she landed gracefully in the cool waters, smiling as the relief was immediate. 'If only I could find....someone...' Aura thought to herself while looking at her reflection in the currents. "If only..."

Atreyu could hear the river just ahead and he perked up some, it was going to feel great in that water. Wash this day right out of his mind. He was tired of trying to put himself out on a limb for girls that would turn around and crush his heart. The day was almost over now, the heat finally subsiding. "so much for fateful encounters, I guess I'll just go stag for another year. I guess it's better this way." he said to himself as he walked closer and closer to the sound. He worked his way through the bushes, to hot, tired, and down to want to fly over. 'If only I could find an actual nice pretty girl, but I guess they don't exist' He thought as he practically wrestled through the undergrowth popping out the other side. He saw her immediately and was floored by her beauty...but then guickly regained his composure and remembered that pretty things are often mean. "Oh I'm sorry I disturber you miss. I'll move down the river a ways to swim."

Aura was relaxing quietly, letting the cool waters flow around her paws and legs. She didnt even notice the male's approach or arrival until he spoke. She looked up, suddenly alert, her bright blue eyes staring at the rainbow male O_O. 'Wow...he's not bad lookin...Where'd he come from' She thought to herself. It took her a moment to register what he'd said and formulate a response. Aura shook her head to rid herself of her small self-induced stupor and blinked, "Oh um, that's... alright...you can stay here if you want...I don't mind." For some reason she didn't get a bad or unusual/weird vibe from him, which for her meant that he was ok, or at least worth a shot at getting to know before pushing aside.

Atreyu, to a second to register what she said. "Are you sure?" He was totally caught off guard by the sweet tone of her voice, he couldn't detect any mischief or malice at all. "I'm Arteyu" he said while making a small bow, "it's a pleasure to meet you you miss, oh I don't believe I caught your name." He stepped down into the river the cool water instantly rejuvenated him. He felt comfortable with her but a the same time extremely nervous so he didn't get to close. "Oh this water feels so invigorating, it was so hot today I could wait to cool off. Thank you for allowing me to join you."

Aura nodded, "Mhm, Im sure." She smiled a bit at his reaction, her dark fur hidding it. 'He's strange...hehhehheh. Strange is good...' She thought to herself. 'Wonder why he seemed surprised when I said I didn't mind?' She quirked her head slightly as he bowed, the only male she knew to do that was Casper, this guy definately was different. Aura smiled a small bit and nodded. "The reason you didn't catch my name is because I didn't give it to you." She said with a small light laugh. "I'm Aura, nice to meet you."
She watched him carefully as she went and sat against a sturdy rock, that looked like a lounge chair but had a pool of cool water flowing through where the seat cushion would be, and let the water cool her. Aura nodded. "Mhm. No problem. The water is nice here and who am I to say who can relax here, especially in this heat. I dont own this place." She said with a small laugh.

"Aura, what a beautiful name,it fits such a beautiful girl." He said smiling, happy he was in the cool waters, and even happier to be talking to a gorgeous female. She seemed genuinely nice but he decided it was best to just act a gentleman and keep his distance, 'after all she might just be in a good mood at the moment, but a girls mood can change fast. At least from my experience' He noticed her watching him as she moved to the shallow waters, 'she has beautiful guys, oh wait Atreyu you should fall so fast.' he thought dunking his head under the water to help clear it, the lifting it out he shook the water and sudden feelings off. "So, why is a lady like yourself alone. I would think you'd have plenty of tokoro wanting to keep you company."

Aura looked up at him, completely caught off guard. She blinked, wide eyed, basically staring at him. 'No one's EVER called me beautiful...sept for Snow but that doesn't count...' She thinks to herself, still completely dumbstruck by what Atreyu said. She smiles a bit and blushes, feeling the heat rush to her face. 'Gah...ok this is so annoying...What is with this guy? He is really different then all the buttheads back at the camp...or many of the other guys...hell even Tokoro Ive ever met...' She asks her self, her face continuing to flush pink, although its very hard to tell with her dark fur.
Aura shook her head to rid herself of the 'self-induced' heat in her face and splashed some water on her face while he dunked his head into the water. 'I better keep my eye on this guy though...looks CAN be discieving...although...he does seem...genuine.' She was about to answer his question when she noticed how the sunlight caught the drops of water falling from his hair and fur. 'Whoa...that...is ...hehheh... no matter what...I do have to admit..he is rather...handsome...and quite charming.' Aura regained her composure and shook her head dismissivly, "Nah, Those airheads are all talk or muscle and no brains whatsoever, and/or some combination. I have no idea what any female would see in them. And most Tokoro find my dark colorings to be...I guess you would call it...Taboo, a dark omen, or something like that, other times I give them 'a dark feeling'. They're all just a bunch of judgemental pig-headed chauvanists, and those that aren't, already have mates and families." She said with a sigh, looking into the water at her reflection, then taking a drink. She was so tired of dealing with all the juvenile, simple minded, pea-brained, egotistical, neanderthal males around; it was driving her somewhat insane. She just wanted to find someone she could connect with...someone who saw her for everything she was and everything she could be.
((if some of this doesnt make a ton of sense, Im sorry, Im a lil tired. sweatdrop ))

Atreyu wasn't sure, but he thought he saw her blushing and that made him smile. Some thing about her just warmed his heart, and she did seem bluntly honest. He had to start laughing as she starting ranting about how no good men are. "ha ha ha I was just thinking the same thing about females, How they can be cruel and cold hearted. I have to admit that used to have a mate, we had two kits and then she left me. I still look in on them every now and then, but she hasn't gone to see them once. Her own children are now teens and probably don't even remember what she looks like." He started to get angry and he just looked really sad. "I thought we were in love, now I'm not sure what love is, but I don't give my heart so freely anymore, perhaps I wasn't pig-headed enough for her." realizing he had probably said to much and trying to leave it off on a laughable comment.
He climbed out of the river and sat on the bank."And you probably are thinking oh, he has already had kids with someone else and that you probably have no interest in me, but I'm going to say this anyhow." He took a breath and look directly at her. "You really are beautiful, Your dark fur looks mysterious, It dose help you to hide your emotions, and that I believe is why someone would "you give off a dark feeling" but those tokoro are probably not worth talking to anyway. You should never surround yourself with anyone that looks down on you. You are are better then that. Then he realized he probably sounded like a dad. "I'm sorry, but my daughter has a black coat also, and I'd never want anyone to judge her. " he lowered his head.

Aura nodded, laughing a bit, not being able to help herself, all the while still blushing lightly while not knowing it. As his voice became less jovial, she looked at him, watching him carefully as he spoke of what happened. She nodded a bit, once he finished. "Yeah, females can be bitches too, and not just because it's a certain 'time'." She looked at how distressed he was and thought for a moment. 'Wow...that chick did some serious damage. What a total b***h...' Aura sighed and continued. "At least the kids have you around, it's better to have one parent than no parent at all. Im glad they have such a caring father. And sadly it sounds like she just took advantage of you and then didn't want the responsibilities of being a mom...so she left, and that isn't right, not one bit. Any chick that does that needs a swift kick in the rear and doesn't deserve to have anything good...not with someone as sweet as you." She said...saying the last seven words quietly. "You just need to find the right one, the one who won't take your heart and break it." Aura said softly.
She got up and stretched and then sat back down and thought to herself, 'Least I know he's good with kids.' Aura looked up, somewhat wide-eyed at his apparent, coming confession. She sat there in basic awe at what he was saying. No one had ever said those sorts of things about her...least of all directly to her. Sitting there listening to him, she let her mind soak up every word he said, the sound of his voice being the only thing she heard at that time. 'No one's ever....ever said anything like that to me...or about me...why does he think it matters to me that he's already got kids...I like kids.' After he finished speaking, it took her a moment to snap out of her trance, she shook her head and blinked/blunk (idk X3) several times before speaking again, this time standing up and walking towards him a bit, still standing in the water. "Well...for your information," She started out saying, somewhat using her normal 'whatever' tone, "It doesn't matter to me whether a guy has kids or not...that is to say that a guy doesn't need to not be a parent in order for me to be interested. I love kids, and it doesn't matter to me whether you have kids or not, doesnt mean Im not..." She sort of blushed as she was rather shy when it came to relationships, especially when it came to talking about them. Aura had to take a breath before continuing.
"And to tell you the truth...I dont know why anyone wouldn't be interested in you. You are handsome and quite charming and what you just said to me has to be the most sweet and...well the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me or about me. The fact that you would stick around and watch after your kids while some bloody wench went off and left you and your children without so much as a goodbye or a reason is very admirable and I have to say I find it quite..." she paused to try to regain her composure. "Admirable and an excellent quality. Anyone who doesn't want to get to know you doesn't deserve to, and frankly your former mate didn't know how good she had it." She finished. Aura lowered her head a bit, tons of heat rushing to her face causing her to feel as if her fur was turning bright red instead of staying black and hiding the blush. 'He probably thinks I am totally insane now...but at least I got that out..heh...oh lord i am insane, ive never done that before...hehhehheh' She said in her mind, laughing at herself softly.

Atreyu looked up at Aura as she spoke, she was not like any girl her knew, she was so sure of herself and actually said what was on her mind. "You think I'm sweet" he said smiling a bit bashfully, instantly forgeting that he had been feeling down. I just need the right one he though and not only does she not care that I have kids, but she likes kids. As she continued to talk his eyes never left her face, It was more her beautiful eyes that held his gaze, and he could tell she was being completely honest and forthright.
He was pleasently surprized when he realized that she had basicly said she was interested in him. "Aura, would you like to do something with me sometime." He said strightforward and confidently, "I don't mean to put you on the spot, but I like you, I've never heard a girl speak her mind like you, and you spoke from your heart hosnestly. It touch my heart, and I wanted you to know, and I'd love to spend more time with you."

Aura blushed and smiled. "Uh sure, I'd love to...No one's ever spoken to me like that either. It's...nice." She said, laughing softly and walking over to him, slightly rubbing up against him with her tail. "And yeah...I do think you're sweet." She said, softly smiling. "And dont worry, I speak my mind a lot ^_^;." Aura laughed softly as she spoke, after all this was new territory for her but it felt good, and she had a warm feeling deep inside of her, which filled her with happiness. 'I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship.'
