I'm sorry, but I have to rant. Tonight in dynamis x-carb, we had 2 new players in the ls. They had smn set as their sub job. I did not. I had rdm set, and brd sub. I knew no one else needed horn which is why I did not sub it, because I knew it would go to me as default because it's 75. Then I find out, these 2 have smn lvled, and what do you know, they both set it as sub. SMN horn drops, and none of the leaders know who it should go to, so it's a lot war between those 2. I was really upset. Simply because s**t like this keeps happening.
I set something as sub, someone NEW sets it as main. I don't sub something because I need 2 other things and I know no one else needs, and surprise! someone set it as main. I don't know why, but I'm really POed atm and really question why I continue to put up with this. Cause this has happened to whm body, rdm body X3, smn horn and brd pants. The only Item I have of those 4 now is cleric body, and that goes to free lot now. I feel simply because I have so many jobs all of which I use according to the situation at hand reqires. I want to gear all of my jobs as best as I can, and I have to deal with deciding what to sub and main in dynamis if I need more than 2 items.
As it stands:
Windy:
SMN and BLM
Bastok: BRD
Sandy:SMN
Jueno: BRD BLM
Beudicine: RDM BLM BRD
X-Carb: RDM WHM BLM RDM BRD
The only time I ever get items, is if NO ONE ELSE wants it. Otherwise, i get cast aside and treated like I haven't been dedicating every day for months to this ls.
Because we had quite a few amount of recruits lately, I don't know what to sub and main anymore. Because most people usually sub and main the same stuff for ages until they get what they want.
For instance, in glacier, I always rdm/brd. I don't /blm because so many people want it and I have no chance if I sub it. On the other hand, no one wants brd.
And In x-carb, well, everyone wants everything. But I was the only one there who is an older member who has smn and not horn. It should have gone to me instead of one of the new smns. I had rdm/brd, because I am on those 2 jobs more. Mostly brd, but rdm hat is more desirable, so that remains my main. SMN, I go to Tia, Khim, Cerb and Ixion as. However, this does not help the fact that the 2 weeks these 2 people have been in LS have gotten priority over me because of a stupid job choice we have to make. Frankly, I'm pissed, and I'm sorry I had to rant, but I did.

Sounds to me like you are spreading your efforts thin.
Do they have a set format for loot? ie. You acrue points if you turn up, if you kill a certain god or whatever, if you do something else favorable to the group you acrue points to spend on loot. then you bid on loot to get it. Or is it just - who needs it rolls? or is it - those who have it as a job or a main roll.
Personally I would want to see the rules I have to work within or ask someone to set them so I know what I can do to get what I need from the ls.
If you are going to a 'raid' and guessing as to what might drop and putting on that main and sub and hoping things go in your favour that way, then you are only putting yourself at a disadvantage. Stick with a main and a sub - or maybe just a main, till you are properly decked out with that one, then try switching. If you jump here there and everywhere - then you will only exhaust yourself and face even less odds of getting what you need in the long run.
The other point to look at is - YES you may need it to complete your set, but they had their SMN leveled to 75 as well, that means they must play SMN frequently or at least enough to have gotten it to 75. I dont see it as unfair that they are allowed a chance at the item. In the long run it will add in total to the whole ls / group no matter who it goes to. or even better way to look at it... Next time it drops you now have a 50% chance of getting it rather than only a 35%.... one less in the competition for the horn...
as you also said yourself, everyone subs the same stuff for ages until they get what they want. IMHO this would be the way to go because its not about quantity, its about quality.

If it was another long time member, I wouldn't be pissed at all. Just we've had so many people who join and when they get what they want, they jump ship. The format for loot is pretty much the leaders decide who gets what for gods, kings, hnm, ect. During dynamis though, it's a different set of rules! You set a main and a sub, and leaders vote who gets what if there is more than one person. Sometimes though like last night, they couldn't decide and voted for a lot war. Where as if I did set it as my sub, it would have gone to me because I have been in the LS longer and shown up 89% of the time to events. These 2 though, only seen 1 on for something other than dynamis in the past 2 weeks. So yeah, I have the right to be very irked.

So it was just a matter of bad luck! That sucks...
The rules sound a bit loose to me in that ls! but then different strokes for different folks.
Maybe next time you will get what you need.

Maybe next time you will get what you need. yeah, rules are only ******** up in dynamis imo. Rest of em is pretty solid since leaders spend like 2-3 hours in weekly meetings for items.

All is well for now. Got smn horn, but had to pass up the opportunity to lot the brd that dropped today. got the smn horn a 5/5 vote today, set it as sub. No rdm hat though. crying Unless it drops in the nest 20 mins we still have inside.

When I helped an HNMLS they went through a HUGE contrivercy during Dynamis, RDM piece dropped and someone nabbed it from the person who had their name at the top of the list for it consdering he had gotten a drop during that very same one an hour before. You'd of thought he started World War III in a Linkshell. sweatdrop
Fun times in Revolt of Diabolos, before their leader decided (for reasons unknown) to shatter the shell.
But yes. Some linkshells are very... "a**l" about item drops, as far as the higher level job specific items to even the random crap that drops, I'm glad they lacked rules for w00tz 0re! 3nodding That scored me a PRETTY gil whee I beat someone by 1 in the lot. xp
For any of those looking to join a HNMLS... be careful, cause some people are crazy ninja

Eiryn's right. You simply need to decide which job you want to work on first. Everyone's in the same boat: only being allowed to nominate one main and one secondary job.
The likelihood of getting items for your second job are always going to be slim because someone else is bound to have it as a main.
Decide which of your jobs needs the item for the current run most and stick with it. Considering that if no one sets a particular job the item falls to you as a 75 anyway it doesn't hurt any to put want you really want first in the list.

Yeah, those 2 never showed up at all after that dynamis infact. So, I was right and gave a huge "I told you so" speech to one of my friends on the game.
Sadly, havn't been able to be on the game at all past 2 weeks cause of computer issues.
The repair guy who we took it too said that he found a virus caused by porn on the pc. I know that's a load of BS cause I never look at that stuff. I just don't see the point of it. So, 3 imputs of w/e is wrong with the pc.
1. Virus caused by Porn
2. Broken Motherboard
3. Needs a new graphic card
4. ???
So yeah, annoyed. Hopefully I have my pc working again soon cause I have Kirin triggers on me and we were supposed to fight it day after I got 4/4. But s**t happens.
Ah well, they can wait, plus apparently they fought like 3 kirins anyways. Yeah...my ls kills it in about 20-30 mins the old fashioned kiting way. Rarly do we zerg, cause everyone is tired of zerging. Seriously, BV2, KV, Dynamis Lord...ect.
But yeah, no ffxi for me while I wait on pc. crying

So, got my pc back today! I quickly plug it in, and log onto ffxi. Apparently, I was on the past 3 days...each day, without a ls on anon. Seems my bf thinks it's alright to go on my account without telling me! I got in a lil bit of trouble for giving my info to someone outside the ls, but ya know what? I trust my bf enough to give him my info and not take the ls ToDs or anything.
If they're not happy with me having trust in someone I love, well, ******** that. He will always have my info. And if I find out he did anything with my character besides PL his lowbie jobs or duo with, well, he looses pant access.

So, this morning logged in. KV had poped. I rush my a** to Altep and by the time I get there, another ls has claimed. They're a rather unexpereinced ls though, so we waited to see if they wiped. They didn't. Then went to merit. Recapped brd exp and got 3 merits, which went to get me to lvl 3 lullaby recast. So 9 more merits until brd is done now. =) Then did some ZNM. Got the garuda helm for my smn. My ls has been spaming KSNM99, and I got the worst drops ever. Seriously, look at this:

So, last night I did my first ZNM. I can say, it was quite fun. This morning I decided to start getting zeni. I can say, it's quite addicting! got 4.5k in the 4 hours I took pictures. So that's cool.
Did dynamis-jeuno and finnally got cleric pantaloons! YAY!
That puts me at 4/5 on whm relic. Just need hands now. xd
