I have only seen the movie once and i was really baked when i watched it. I liked it, but i was wondering if the book is worth reading even after watching the movie? how long is it?? Was the book made before the movie?

The movie is a pretty darned accurate rendition of the book. The dialoge in the movie is pretty dead on to the ravings of Thompson. The movie is based off the book, so it's none of this adapted from screen, using movie photo's for illustration crap. The artwork within the pages is pretty trippy in and of itself, and I highly recomend it.
I finished it in hours, but I read 700+ page books in the span of a day, so it's probably not a accurate read time for the masses.

Read the book when you are on a trip front to back as fast as you can.

i thought the movie a good adaptation. Johnny Depp got to know HST pretty well, and picked up his habits so he could play the part better. I like this movie, but can't watch it too often. It gets soooo weird at the end.
