(Canal Drying Chapter)
Wiki description first.
The chapter name "Miotsukushi" is a pun of Mio-tsu-kushi (or traditionally Miwo-tsu-kushi) (澪標, canal sign?) and Mi wo tsukushi (身を尽(く)し, Mi wo tsukushi?), a conjugation form of Mi wo tsukusu (身を尽くす, serve one's body?). This pun is very famous in Japanese poetry such as Haiku.
After finding out who the real murderer is, Rika and Keiichi decide to put an end to the whole mystery, but they are in a different situation than Matsuribayashi-hen. Before they can do anything, they have to solve other people's problems first. The problems of Watanagashi/Meakashi-hen, Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Tsumihoroboshi-hen are met here and all of them must be solved. While Matsuribayashi-hen is the epilogue of PC-port games, it is considered to be the "Good End" of the series.
Miotsukushi-hen, which replaces Matsuribayashi-hen, is a more complete ending, despite the lack of the Kakera in the PS2 game not giving much of the background information. The problems of Watanagashi/Meakashi-hen, Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Tsumihoroboshi-hen need to be solved before the main villan can be confronted. Unfortunately, an ally is lost is at the end of the chapter.
Natsumi Kimiyoshi also makes a cameo in this chapter, to take Satoko's place at the Watanagashi festival since Teppei had returned again.
