I'm an out n' proud lesbian, active in the lesbian community, I greatly admire other out n' proud lesbians, and the psychology behind lesbianism vs. heterosexism fascinates me. I all-around love lesbianism and lesbians.
But sometimes I step back and it seems rather foreign. When I break down the activism, the sexual expression, the LGBT culture, and focus on just my individual identity, it seems rather ridiculous to make such a big deal out of something that feels so natural. I love women, I love my girlfriend, and it's not something I need to think about. It feels like home, it's just what I'm doing just like how I'm breathing.
When I hear/read something criticizing lesbians/lesbianism, sometimes I think, "Are they really talking about me?" It seems so odd that someone could think that something that comes as natural to me could be generally unnatural.
It seems like the lesbian identity is something added on to something that just flows through daily life. I enjoy it and I get a lot out of it, but it's like the difference between the foundation of the house and the picture you hang on the wall - the picture doesn't contribute to the structure but it adds interest.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

Personally, I believe in being.. well, very out. In one way it's just to blatantly give the finger to anyone who thinks it's wrong. I understand what you mean, though. It's very natural to me... It's the only thing that feels right.
