Well I love to ride but I know next to nothing about motors. For reasons I don't want to get into I have never really learned about motors but I want to be able to repair my own bike and eventually build my own bike.
Looking for resources for learning about motors and how to repair them.

This looked like a good forum for that. If not just delete.

Find a junker, rip it apart, put it back together again. The best way to learn is by doing.

Not to sound too cheesy but save taking a class or spending too much money check out the library too. If you have a motorcycle or car to work on most libraries will carry repair manuals. Seems a good a place to start as any.

Go to your local community college and take a course. I spent one summer taking repair classes and now I'm an ASE certified Motorcycle Mechanic.

It's legit, for real.

what was your level of expirece before you took the class. I worried that I will turn into more than I can handle.

I'm in the same boat here.

I'd like to learn, but my previous experience (electrical aside) is pretty limited. There's a class coming up at the local community college, but I'm thinking it may be over my head if I don't have any previous experience.

if you take the beginning course at a community college in the motorcycle tech field I guarentee that it won't be over your head. They set those beginning classes at absolute basic, get a feel for who all knows what, catch up the less experienced bunch and move on from there. Don't worry about it being over your head, you're jumping into a beginner course not an intermediate or advanced.
