Seeing as there was no thread for this yet, I decided to create one. This is for discussion of the latest movie to be released into the series- Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning. This is to be a prequel, but does not follow along with the prequel written by Budge Wilson (it was filmed before this book came out).
Before I go any further, here is the official site link:
A New BeginningIf you watch the very first video on that page, you will find that there will be two new videos coming very soon, in July. One is a video teaser, which will appear on July 8. The next will be the official trailer, which will appear on July 23. It's something to watch out for.
On the site you'll be able to find all your character bios and such. I went through them. What I found strange is that there is no Gilbert. However, we will see Dominic. This video is set during WWII, of which Dominic is off fighting in. To my earlier comment about Gilbert, I was reading on the site and found a "
Behind the Scenes" article. It states that Anne is now widowed, so I am hoping we'll find out what happened to Gilbert, and why he died so early.
Once again we have a completely new story, and another version to add to the tales we know. What I'm hoping is that these new actors can pull off convincing versions of Anne, both in her 60s and as a young child. From first impressions so far, what do you think?
There is no official release date that I can find for the movie so far. In the news section I found that the movie has been slated for CTV's Fall 2008/2009 schedule, so it will be out in the fall, or early in 2009.Official TeaserOfficial Teaser
