The great libraries of Arius most known for its great diversity in the arcane arts. Centuries and centuries of knowledge built upon knowledge of the past, present, and highly rumored..........future. From the whitest of all purifying magics to the darkest of arts are all found in this great well of wisdom. Some witches and wizards have entered this haven of magic and has never came out. Others say some became obsessed, constantly searching for more and more until their body withered away. Some say that these entities still lurk the hallways of the libraries. Who knows, you'll never know until you enter. Cross at your own risk.

Deep within the vowels of the Archaic Libraries of Arius, Kazei rummaged through its archives. There he sat at an old table, tossing behind him ten's to what seemed liked hundreds of books that he had gone through. "Surely he has to know that the Keyblade itself has strong magical properties that make it up. Its not something that you can draw away from its user, until they realize it." He searched and searched the shelves frequently, but he found no answer. The only thing that changed was the size of pile of books that pyramided behind him.

- 'Casting spells requires the channeling of magical energy. Each time spells are cast, the amount of magical energy available to the mage decreases. When no more magical energy is left, spells can no longer be cast. Lost magical energy can be recovered by resting.'

-Magical energy also depends on the physical condition of the sorcerer/sorceress. The most common example is the decrease in a sorceress' magical energy a few days before and after "that day." During this time, a sorceress' maximum magical energy decreases, as does the effect of her spells. Some cannot cast spells at all.

-To change the effects of black magic, understanding of chaos words is necessary. By understanding the true meaning of the spell, it is possbile to construct a new spell.

Book after book, after book until his very soul and body became enveloped with the desire and thirst for more knowledge. Any thought of learning from the old man had been completely vanished and scorched away by these this new knowledge he had gained. A sudden feeling had enveloped him. He stood from the broken desk, looking down at it and muttering something of a foreign tongue. Suddenly, from his hands shot out a white beam that plunged though the table set, knocking everything off its hinges. A small shockwave was soon followed after, causing old dust to fly up in miniature clouds of smoke around. White flames were now dancing around the table rapidly, however to the average human they would appear invisible. From the naked eye it would seem as though any objects that had been touched by it would disintegrate slowly from wherever the beam had made contact. In other words, it would seem as though it were being erased by an invisible force. After practicing various spells, he backed away and let himself be enveloped by fatigue, letting himself fall into the pile of books. There he laid and laid staring at the ceiling thinking and smiling to himself for what seemed like hours. The burning feeling in his veins now rushing through his body. "It was faint, however the power of awakening my mana was what I was missing...........all this time...hehe." He chuckled to himself now closing his eyes and letting himself fall into the dream world.

Slowly all around Kazei, shadows began to creep. The light in the windows began to slowly blink out, one by one, as if someone here hitting a light switch for the very light coming in through them. Shadows grew longer and darker, canvassing whole areas of the Library at a time. All this was taking place all as Kazei peacefully slept. No form of magic made it self known to disturb him, not yet. Then from the very front and back, lights began to blink out, one at a time they each were simply snuffed out. As this took place, the shadow began to move, slowly they crept from one point of darkness to another, moving closer and closer to Kazei till he was enveloped by a sea of shadow. "Are we enjoying our nap you little brat" That familiar Old voice whispered through the library. His presence lingered here and there, never fully coming out to make itself properly known. "I will have to take care of that.." With a sudden burst of magic the shadows all sprang up and covered Kazei like a unending blanket of darkness. While being a being of darkness himself, he would take no physical harm of anysort, but his mind was another matter.Slowly it was invaded by the shadow, creeping in through the cracks of his consciousness into his realm of dreams. It was in this method, that the Old Sage began peering into the mind of Kazei through a small sphere. "let us see what broken stories you have to tell" The Old Sage grinned slightly under his robe, taking a seat a chair far across the library, his old cane clutched lightly in his other hand as he began his scrying into Kazei's dream realm.

Within the dream world, the old man would find himself within a room filled with alarge area of book shelves that extended as far as the eye could venture. Every one book for a chapter that occurred in Kazei's life, every page revealing a particular event. Beyond the room were several stairways from many ends that extended upwards and sideways that lead to other rooms, filled with more book shelves. Every once in a while, small little shadow would run passed the old man, followed by another that ran behind it followed by the sounds of tiny footsteps tapping against the marble floors. It was eerie for the simple fact that it seemed timed never changed here, making it impossible for a person or people to inhabit this space. However, it wouldn't be the first time the old man's eyes has played tricks on him, he was indeed far beyond his time in age.

If the old man were to look up however, he would find that there was no ceiling, but an great array of doors that floated in mid air surrounded by and endless area of white space that stretched and extended as far as the naked eye could see. The room was almost silent, except for a faint sounds piano music that traveled freely through the white space. Without even notice, a little boy by what looked from 5-7 was standing beside the old man's legs. For how many minutes he stood there was unknown. There he stood now clutching the old man's right hand and looking up into the old man's hood. The boy's eyes could not be seen do to the fact that his dark blue streaked bangs loomed over them, however a slight faint crimson glow could be seen where they were hidden beneath the bangs. A small tear then trickled down the boy's face followed by a big cheery smile as he looked up to the old man. "You're going to miss it. You came to find it too, didn't you? Watch it now, the watchers are watching. Can't you hear them?" He laughed cheerfully followed by another tear that ran down his face.

With a simple movement, his hand slipped through the dreamchilds hand as if he were not there at all. In fact he was not. "Dear child..I am no more then just that. A watcher. This is not my realm to play in, though I would revel in tearing this place down and destroying everything that there is, I need this fool intact at least for the moment. Think of me as no more then another shadow amongst the shadows." The Old Sages body flickered, showing that he himself was nothing more then just that, a shadow meant to observe in this realm of dream."Now then..." Slowly slipping up into the air, he quietly began sifting through books at a time, merely glancing from page to page, not searching for anything important, but not allowing anything to go unchecked. He was not on a mission for secrets, not for weakness, not even for control. No, here was here for his own curiosity, though he had dived into dreams of others many times in the past, never has he done so for one who walked the road of Kazei. Paying no heed to the eerie noises, footsteps, shadows, and what not, he continued his mild browsing of 'chapters' taking his time to read a particular point only when it came to his previous friendships. "Oh it will be such a sight for when they meet again, what ever shall you do then young blood"

The Old Sage then slowly withdrew from this world, dispelling his scrying magic from the realm of dream and retreating back into the realm of reality. The blanketing shadows slowly receded, the lights slowly returning to life, the sun in the windows shining again, and the Shadows all returning to normal. At least most of them, one shadow stayed out of place, a humanoid shadow cast itself off of Kazei's as if another were there, but not. There it 'stood', next to Kazei's own, holding the exact same pose as him in his resting posistion. From far across the library, the old man just chuckled, flicking his wrist causing the chair underneath Kazei to give way and collapse to the ground without so much as a warning "Time to get to work brat" The Old Sages voice echoed around the Library as the Sage himself slowly sank back into the darkness, probably heading back to his own realm.

Falling from the desk and knocking his head against whatever pieces of broken wood, Kazei was still passed out cold. His body was still slouched in the pile of books followed by many more that fell across his face. Lying their for many more hours, it had seemed as though all of his body strength was sapped from the amount of mana the spell had taken from him. Raising himself up, he shook his head slightly and buried his face into his hands. "Damn, I need to be careful." For some reason, Kazei felt as if his body had become one with the library. Everything he glanced at, it seemed as though he could feel it. As if he they shared the same touch. The same smell, even sight. It was as if he had become more sensitive to the world around him. Now getting up to his feet, he dusted himself off and looked at the broken chair legs and table around him that lied in pieces. "The old geezer." Though it was faint, Kazei could feel the slight trails of a energy leaving the library until it completely faded. "I better get out of here before things....." Before he could turn around, Kazei noticed a shadow that consisted of the same bodily outline as him. "Thanks for the support, but I don't do autographs this week. Don't forget to look out for my new single though." He said walking through the isles of the shelves making his way out of the library."

User Image"Roger, are you sure there's something in this library about Dawning?" A girl's voice chimed. The voice carried through the deep halls and bounced along the bookshelves with a creepy echo like those one heard in scary movies. Following it, there was a loud bang, clearly sounding like what a heavy book would do when it falls to the floor. Whatever silence there was in the library, it certainly wouldn't be silent much longer.

"I never said that there was, Mellenia." A second voice piped in, obviously male. Dubbed, Roger, the voice spoke again "And watch how you handle those books, their covered with dust and are no doubt old as heck." Down a few halls left of the fiction section, take a right down along the books on myths, and pass the forbidden section, a girl stood skimming through the spines of the books, reading the labels as she went.

"It's not my fault! That book was heavy, and it didn't hand anything about Dawning anyway!" Mellenia defended herself with an excuse that was semi-plausible since she could only use her left hand for everything else. She ignored the doll's look at her, and continued looking through the books, despite the fact that she looked twice already, and there was nothing about the spice she was looking for. She could still see Roger roll his eyes even though she wasn't looking at him. She could feel it.

"Uh-huh. Keep telling yourself that." And Roger resumed his search. "In any case, I think we're in the wrong section, perhaps we should look in the Myth section again."

NPC Librarian

Footsteps could then be heard in the distance, slowly approaching where the girl and her accomplice searched through the archives. Walking into the area where the girl was, approached a black suited librarian.

"How can I help you miss, are you searching for something in particular. Our archives have a great variety and can in fact cause confusion. This is why I'm here to offer my services."

The man said standing with a bolted posture. His hands were firmly rested behind his back crossed, and his eyes were closed. His hair was bald and upon the top of it lied many tatoos of various inscriptions and runes. It was no doubt that the man himself had been even changed by the arcane atmosphere and he had grown quite used to it for years now, due to his casual like approach.

User Image For several moments, Mellenia didn't even notice the man that slipped toward them. It was Roger, who turned around and stared at the librarian for a moment before tapping Mellenia's attention toward him. Her eyes studied the stranger with a sense of surprise and a bit disconcern. "Oh! Did you ask me something? Well, whatever it is, it'll have to wait stranger, because I'm looking for something about 'Dawning'. Have you ever heard of it?" At that instant, Roger looked toward her with a frown.

"Don't trust this guy, Mellenia. His eyes are too close together. And the man obviously hasn't seen a woman in a long time." Roger commented. She tilted her head at the man and could vaguely see the lines of his eyelashes were a few millimeters too close to the bridge of his nose. However, she pushed the second comment to the back of her mind, and glared at the doll.

"Don't be so rude, Rog! That's a horrible thing to say to him!"

To enforce her words, she turned about and started slamming the doll against the knot of the bookshelf. With every blow, the sound of wood and force echoed along the corridors. It almost seemed like the library shook with each blow. She smacked him a fair dozen times before abandoning her assault. She looked back at the librarian with a smile. "You must forgive him. He's a rude boy."

The man then faked a couple coughs, while wincing his right eye in response of the doll's rudeness. The man's eyes were indeed very narrow and slanted, but that didn't seem to stop him from carrying out his daily duties. He was here to make sure everything was kept from harm's way. Vice versa that is. It wasn't the library he was protecting, but it was the visitors that he protected from the library itself.

"Well now, their are various titles labeled with the title 'Dawn' within it. Theres one book in particular, labeled as 'Dawn of Destiny' here in the archives. I'm pretty sure you've heard of those stories already though. Its about two boys who plunged this world into darkness by trying to fulfill their own personal desires. It is said that in the end, they had to go through terrible ordeals in order to bring this world back to its original state as we all know it. However, only one of them returned and the other became trapped in the realm of darkness for many years. A very sad tell it is."

The old man said flapping through the pages of the book labeled, 'Dawn of Destiny' and now placing it back on the shelf.

"Hmm, so can you be a little more specific with this book you are talking about miss?"

User Image Mellenia listened as intently as she could, but found it hard to find the interest into something that she clearly was not. She stifled a yawn and waved her free hand in a lazied fashion. "Oh no, no, no. You misunderstand. We're not looking for a book." She placed the same hand against her hip and stated, "We're looking for a thing that is called 'Dawning'. I don't need a book. Isn't that right Roger?". Still dazed from the ordeal, the doll held his head with his short arms, and nodded. Or at least it closely resembled a nod. No one could be entirely sure since the doll's head was just moving his head as if it went limb. Mellenia only assumed confirmation and looked at the librarian with a smile. "Anyway, that's what we're looking for. But it seems like there isn't anything here that has something about it, you know."

Getting his second wind back, Roger vigorously shook his head and spoke. "We're just looking for the thing. If it isn't here, we'll be on our way. Come on, Mellenia, this place sucks!" which earned him a glare from his mistress. Roger reduced down to a grumble as Mellenia looked around the corridor with some sense of curiosity.

"Hmm. This library... is so strange..." Mellenia said quietly to herself and peered at the man. "Anyway, I doubt this place has anthing about Dawning in it, so it probably is best that we go. Come Roger. Let's head off to someplace new." Mellenia nodded and smiled at the man, before turning around and heading toward the opposite direction.

PostPosted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 6:22 pm

A twisted grin formed around the man's face as the girl headed the opposite direction. His skin began shriveling up into a grayish tone followed by aged white hair that stretched forth from his skull, covering his eyes completely. All that was left was a skeleton like figure that stood gaping at the young girl as she turned around to leave. Raising his finger up slightly, the man bursted into cloud of ashes that shifted clutched together until a solid could be formed. Finally complete, the small mass fell solidly to the floor as a gray book embedded with a gargoyle crest upon its cover.

There hadn't been a librarian for many years now. No one roamed his library except for those who withered away in he its darkest depths. All of them drowning within their endless thirst for the arcane arts. Across one of walls lied a large portrait that would've stuck out amongst he others. A the same gentleman who watched over the library, only that he was entirely covered in medieval clothing. The portrait itself was a couple of hundreds of years old, just as some of the other objects of the library. However the more interesting part was how exactly the interior kept itself tidy and kept behind itself.

"Watch for the shadows now. The further you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes."

A voice whispered through the air..

"Something wrong, Mellenia?"

"I thought I just heard..." Only a few steps away, Mellenia peered back toward the other side. She could've sworn that she heard something. A whisper maybe? Perhaps just a ghost sound. There was an odd scent in the air too. Something was out of place though. And only later would she realize that the man had completely vanished. She didn't concern herself with that though, for her eyes spotted the stone grey book upon the floor. "Look at that, Roger. Did we drop that book during our search?" She approached the book and picked it up with her free hand. With a casual flick of her finger, she opened the page of the book and skimmed through the lines.

There was a silent pause and in a quick snap, Mellenia shut the book and let it drop to the floor once more. "Roger! We have a heading! Let's go!" And just as fast as her voice bounced along the walls and ceilings, her feet were already on the move. Roger was going to voice a protest, but Mellenia already began talking to answer his question. "Cradle Island. That book said something about a mysterious herb in the Cradle Island, right here on Arius! Oh this is good, Roger. Dawning, here I come!"

With nothing left to say, Mellenia's feet carried her all the way past the library doors. The presence of the place had lifted off her, almost like a giant burden has been removed from her shoulders. But nothing even that could deter her sudden rush of eagerness. Not even the strange whisper could've dampened her spirits now.

Kael walked into the library and said to himself "Hmm, I better look up on my people's magic, Celestial magic, It's been a long time since I ever cast a powerful spell that could destroy a demon". Kael walked through the corridors and spotting the section on powerful magical races, Kael walked into it. Searching the hundreds of books until he found a light blue book called 'Caelestia Arcana Infintum: A history on the magics of the Celestials'. Glad that he had found what he was looking for, Kael took the book to a nearby table and started reading.

- 'Long ago, before the human races created powerful magics, the magical humaniod race known as the Celestials reigned supreme over the most powerful magics. And their magic is still powerful to this day, locked in each Celestial's mind, waiting to be released

- These days, even half-celestials can create spells with unimaginable power.

- Knowing their reliance on their mana for their invincible immune systems, the Celestials learnt how to channel other forms of magical energy like Chakra, Magicka, etc.

Kael was looking through the pages, knowing that he was part of the royal family of the Celestials and was half-human, Kael remembered that he had to lock away much of his power in order to prevent others from using it for evil. Then Kael noticed a page written in his people's language.

- Duskata ali Dawneuti, Ethi Laiki'tae Aethos Mana'nae Crystalis Solara ali Lunara chaniol Keil synthe....

Kael couldn't believe what he was reading. It said "Dusk and Dawn, Shall Illuminate Aether Mana Stars, Crystal Sun and Moon, channel hope synthesis". It was not able to be understood due to the complexity of Kael's translation. Kael sighed and looked at another page, containing the diagrams for an ancient spell of resurrection. Kael noticed that it wasn't like the impure resurrection spells of humans. This one apparently said that the user had to channel some of his mana and life force into the dead person and entreat the Celestial gods of Nature to revive the person. It was the purest form of a White Magic spell that was cause Arise. This spell was called True Revival. Kael sighed and said "Light and Darkness, Twilight and Dawn. So different yet so alike".

Kael put the book back and rushed out of the library for the rail station. Kael couldn't wait to get home.
