Wow...it's been a long time since I actually posted about any bands. Today I am posting about the legendary heavy metal musician King Diamond.

For all of those who don't know King Diamond was the frontman for the metal band Mercyful Fate back in the 1980's and 1990's. However, this thread is about the man himself and his self-titled band. He is easily recognized by his stage makeup. He is also known on account of two other things, one is that he possess an incredible vocal range which can go from a death growl to a falsetto voice almost instantly. However, this ability to reach such a high pitch has turned off many people, especially on his earliest recordings. His second notable feature is that he is an incredible song writer, every single one of his albums is a well crafted story. His stories however, are not exactly fairy tales as they involve murder, death, psychosis and supernatural events and if you don't have a tolerance for this sort of thing, it might be a little disturbing. Like his voice, the lyrics are more of an acquired taste. Music wise, he is very melodic and just as well crafted as his music. I suggest you consider listening to him an honest listen before you shun him. Oh, and I forgot to mention, at the 2008 Grammy Awards, he was nominated for "Best Metal Performance" for his song "Never Ending Hill". He didn't win, but he should have.

They are. Songs are a little creepy and his voice can seem very unnatural, but if you listen to all the songs, you see that it makes up one hell of an interesting horror story.
