Who here is super stoked about it?!
I'm going to watch the entire Olympics from soccer to basketball, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball. But most importantly I'm going to be glued to the Track and Field. It's going to be great.
For the first time in many many years, an American has a chance to place or possibly win some of the distance events. Ryan Hall in the Marathon, Bernard Lagatt in the 5k, Alan Webb and Lagatt in the 1500.
Not to mention on the women side we're loaded in the 5k and 10k with Flannigan and Goucher. Although it will still be very hard for either of them to win against whats her name from kenya. (too lazy to look it up right now).
I'm not a big fan of the 100m but at the olympics my god... it's going to be an amazing race. Tyson Gay's 4.1 wind aided 9.68, Bolt's WR of 9.72 and Asafa Powell's previous WR of 9.74. All performances in the past 9 months!!! Something big is going to happen at the olympics between the three of them. My personal Prediction is that Powell is going to win it in about 9.76, Bolt will finish 3rd with a 9.86. Gay will have a great race but fall short at second in 9.80. But that's only if Powell recovers in time and can still be in top shape for the olympics. If not Gay will win it.
One way or another, this Olympics is going to be huge! I'm not looking forward to the swimming too much. There is way too much controversy going on about the Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit. It has caused way too many world records and I feel like for now the sport is slightly tainted. More so then Track and Field. I look forward to watching some new athletes as well as some old favorites. We got people like Tom Pappas in the Decathalon, and then in the 800 3 fresh new faces.
It's going to be AWESOME!!!!
I heart the Olympics and Track and Field biggrin
