PSST ZIRCA I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO PUT THIS SO MOVE IT IF I'M POSTING WRONG.

If you think throwing Golden Compass, pirates, and steampunk in a blender will make you two 8-oz servings of AWESOME then this is probably the right place for you. I am trying to devise two pirate crews, a sea-faring ship and an airship.

NOTE: I can make Dæmons for people separate of a steampunk character, and you can add it to your cert. However, I have to do some stuff before that happens. So don't expect a Dæmon to be drawn up immediately. Also, Dæmons are only for accepted crew members.

*** Dæmons ***

In the steampunk world, a Dæmon is an animal companion, most of which are highly trained. The animal in question is meant to be a reflection of their personality, hence not everyone has a brave lion companion or a fierce wolf companion. The expressions of self are as varied as the animal kingdom is.

Fish and Insects are most likely not to be allowed as a chosen animal due to not being realistic to train in a non-GC world. Most everything else is fair game.

*** The ranking system ***

Mysterious overseer of both ships is mine, I haven't made her yet. YEP IT'S A LADY CAPTAIN. More info on her later.

Ship's Captain - A ship's captain oversees everything. They take orders from only one man, the mysterious true captain of both ships.
Lieutenant - Second in command, job similar to that of the captain.
Quartermaster - in charge of discipline and punishment on the ship. Voice of the crew.
Navigator/Pilot - must have an excellent eye for the weather, and knowledge of the geography.
Surgeon - Hardly what you imagine. In this time period, a surgeon's most important skill is proper amputation. Metalsmiths and engineers can create new metal limbs and parts for those who have lost something, and a surgeon can then attach for them. It's hardly a rewarding job, but without a surgeon everyone could easily be going to pieces. Surgeons are sometimes unwilling members of a crew, another pirated asset from another ship.
Metalsmith/Engineer - It's no good taking a ship out to sea or sky without someone on board for repairs. Valuable members to a crew, but on a pirate ship they'll have to be able to hold their own in a fight as well. They maintain the ship's hull, engines, and build new parts for injured crewmates. (They are equivelant to carpenters on a wooden ship)
Gunner - They man the long-range weaponry on the ship, and keep it maintained when not in use.
Sea/Sky Pirate - Most of the crew is made up of pirates. They fight, board ships, plunder, and kill. Specific to ONLY the GC ships, a sky pirate can sometimes be referred to as a "blade", and a sea pirate can sometimes be referred to as a "bear". It's a lot easier than trying to shorten down either of the ship's names.
Sailmaker - Makes and maintains anything cloth aboard a ship. This includes repairing and creating new clothing for crew members as well.
Deckhand/Deckswabber - if you can't sail and you can't fight, you can keep the deck of the ship nice and clean. Maybe if you show some promise you can REALLY be a pirate.

--- The Panserbjørne ---

The Panserbjørne is waterborne tank, a large metal monster of a ship built from scrap and stolen parts, and belching noxious smoke from its engines. Most any animal is a welcome partner on this ship. Most sea pirates are Mench, half-Mench, or Baylk. Koshka are welcome, but would probably not be so confident on the water.

--- The Æsahættr ---

The Æsahættr is an airship, lightweight but armed and ready to board unsuspecting ships. Its engines are powered by stolen crystals. For obvious reasons, large animals and water animals are unwelcome daemons on the Æsahættr. Anything that comes up higher than about the waist is unsuitable for air piracy. Most air pirates are Mench, half-Mench, or Koshka. Baylk are welcome, but would probably not be so confident in the air.

Species: Mensch (with Koshka recessive genes)
Age: 13
General appearance: Vivica is young, and she looks young. Alternatively, she looks sick, because she generally is sick. Although both of her parents would be considered pure Mensch, recessive genes on both bloodlines combined unfavorably with her, cursing her with asthma, a weak immune system, and pointed, tufted ears. In order to cope with the dust in the air and protect herself from contact with airborne germs, she is never seen in public without a paper mask over her nose and mouth. Her clothing is typically modest, practical, and freshly laundered, and despite a common lack of energy, she always does her best to straighten out her hair and keep clean.
General personality: Vivica has been raised to be well-mannered, respectful of authority, and all the things that a good pirate does not make. She spent most of her life interacting with few people outside of her family, in large part due to the fear of contagions, and is shy and indirect around strangers. Both of her parents were highly intelligent and book-learned people, and she has followed their example to study biology to the extreme that is available. She understands medical theory to a surprising extent, given her age, but her actual skills are unpracticed and raw. She has difficulty tolerating those with extreme or pure Koshka lineage, somehow hypocritically given her own appearance. Her immune system problems have lowered her tolerance to stress, so Vivica is far less willing to take risks and place herself into difficult situations, for fear of growing ill.

Why this animal: Because that's what the official site said she ought to have. Accursed site!

o/! Huzzah, I haven't even started RPing her and already my character has a million reasons to hate on me! *cackles and gets to plotting*

Age: around 30 ish
General appearance: Ryoko Done
General personality: Ryoko is beleived to be some sort of demon, with her insane skills with a blade and her never say die out look on life. She has never entered a fight she hasn't won, she has much love for the plundering pillaging and the odd ransaking of ye olde villaging XD! Ryoko puts accross a strong, arrogant and rather cocky exterior though deep down she has a soft spot for chilluns and blokes, she treats her ship mates like family (if they like it or not XD!) and she will protect her family with her swashbuckling life!

Why this animal: A simple house hold moggy, intencely independant and sometimes lazy, they have natural navigational skills able to read the stars in the sky. Quiet and docile tho those they know and tolerate (you could call it love if you want to get scratched!) yet as brave as their much larger cousins. The cat is a beast of leisure and independance with love in it's heart, showing it's strong front the perfect companion for the independant pirate.

Well-muscled, more on the curvy side and a bit short. Dark-skinned and wiry-haired, eclectic and functional wardrobe.
General personality: Tends to prefer the company of machines to people. Spunky, sharp-witted and a bit of a smart-mouth, she tends to remain positive unless things go completely snafu.
