Bordertown GeographyThe following information is taken from
Bordertown Hype website.
Living QuartersNow that you have made it to Bordertown, it's time to think about the practicals. Where to find a roof over your head where to eat, and where you can work to keep the roof and the food.
Bordertown is a very large place (more like a city than a town) and is home to a variety of areas and districts where you can live and hang out.
Slums Every city's got one. Abandoned buildings filled with homeless, squatters and some rather shady practices. Best to be avoided unless you have excellent street cred or a large group with you.
The Warf & Mad River- The Mad River is a crimson-red river that starts in the Elflands and runs all the way through Bordertown and to Earth (though it dissapears quickly after entering). The Rusty River is an old brige that runs over the Mad River and into the Elflands.
The name comes from the effects it has on half-elves and humans: one drop causes instant lifelong addiction to the waters. The Warf and the River are best to be avoided, though this area is the home of the Warf Rats (See Who's Who for more information), one of the city's many gangs.
Soho- Downtown Bordertown. This is the place to go for entertainment and most of the city's best restaurants, taverns and nightclubs can be found here. Many newcomers to Bordertown make their start here. And if you aren't a heavy sleeper yet- you'll learn. There's always things going on (and playing loud) in Soho.
Dragon Tooth Hill- The Beverly Hills of Bordertown. Here is where the upper crust and the wealthiest of the rich (human and elf) live. Unless you managed to inherit or steal one heck of a fortune (or mommy and daddy already live here) don't expect to make it here unless you are very very lucky. As rare as half-elves are in Bordertown (see Who's Who entry) they are rarer still in Dragon Tooth Hill.
Castle Pup- stone business building that looks closer to a fortress than the buisness skyscrapers typical of Earth. Elves, humans and half-bloods all live together inside in an uneasy harmony. Don't go looking to drop by for a visit, though. This place is just as elite as Dragon's Tooth Hill. There you have to have money, here, you have to know someone on the inside and maybe (just maybe) you might score a place. Castle Pup is located on Market Street.
Feed and FuelHey, a roof over your head is only half the battle. You have to have something to put in your stomach. Here's some of the local food dives. Most are located somewhere in the Soho district.
Wu's Wordly Emporium -Oriental grocery store owned by Mrs. Wu. In addition to food, Mrs. Wu also offers fortune-telling a a bit of magic. Wu's Wordly Emporium is located right next to Elsewhere bookstore on Mock Street.
Godmom's- Pizza parlour and popular hangout owned by a woman known only as Godmom. Said to be the best pizza in Bordertown, and perhaps Earth as well.
Taco Hell- Does any more need to be said? Cheap and slightly sketchy Mexican food served here. However, the coffee is pretty decent.
Entertainment and Night LifeHey, everything can't be about the bare necessities. You're in Bordertown! Sometimes you need to live it up a little!
Elsewhere Bookstore on Mock Street next door to Wu's Wordly Emporium. Here you can find books from just about every available era, place, author and genre imaginable. There is a Free Book Bin, but to get the good stuff, you'll probably have to fork over some cash. Owned by a woman named Mickey
The Magic Lantern-The loacl theatre. But don't go here if you want the latest Hollywood Blockbuster. This place is strictly a B-movie theatre, featuring old black&white, kung-fu, and artsy underground films, just to name a few.
Mock Avenue Gallery- Bordertown's bohemian art gallery for both humans and elves to express theirselves and show off their work.
NightclubsAn almost endless amount of these, especially in Soho. Some of them include:
*Danceland
*The Dancing Ferret
*Homegirl's
*The Factory
*The Dreamery
*The Lightworx
*Saw Flaming Fairies
*Starch Rabbits
*Drunk, Not Stupid
*Poxy Music
*Ground Zero Tailgate Party
The Endless RaveNot really a place, but an event that occurs at the end of the Soho district. According to local legends, the first humans to return to Bordertwon were so ecstatic that they celebrated by dancing and since then the dancing has never stopped. Dancers and music come and go over the years, but if you venture to this area, all the locals swear you will find, without fail, at least one kid dancing the Endless Rave.
