I have my doubts about this making it's way stateside, but I'm VERY fascinated. Looks like a "Ring" sorta deal.

God bless them. It's in first person! And on DS. And it's Square-Enix. 3 reasons why it's a lost cause for me.

Akira Yamaoka said that he wants to start a new horror franchise, I'll just wait for that.

It looks like a visual novel/graphic adventure. Those are traditionally 1st-person or a series of talking heads. Or both if it's like Hotel Dusk or most dating sims.....not that I, uh, would know all that much about the latter *cough cough*

Well, if this is indeed a "Horror" game, then no doubt there will be some enemies you'd have to fight off. Without enemies, it'd be a suspense thriller, which is also a very awesome genre.
I mean, if it's strictly adventure, Myst style, then yeah, First Person works in cases like that.

I'm still not digging the DS aspect of it though. When they try to make the two screens act as one, it kills it for me. There's a big gap between the two screens, and any kinds of gaps annoy the hell out of me.
Before the PS3, I couldn't even keep my console on top of the TV, because the wires would droop down and block a part of the screen, and I couldn't stand it.
This looks like it could be good on the PSP, though. I'd prefer a ONE wide screen over two screens and a touch pad.
But hey, that's why I didn't buy a DS.

I don't personally mind. The only time that's ever been a distraction for me was probably Metroid Pinball. I hear it's a bit of an issue in Contra 4 as well, but it's kinda uncommon for most games to even use both screens in that particular manner.

Oh, I know that. But when they ARE used that way, I just see it as kind of.. Bad game design. Which is the developer's fault entirely.

But even with this game. I mean, we've lived through many full screen first person shooters. Is there really a need to add that little extra to the screen, when they would've made it on one normal screen and did the usual, use the other screen for a map, or something of the sort.

People who have played the Japanese release say that it's rather easy and linear, but it still sounds neat. Having an 8bit game that parallels what you're doing in the real world is a pretty cool idea.
