I don't have photoshop, sadly it kills my comp, so when I make banners (and just about anything I'd do art related) I always use Microsoft GIMP. It's similar, but a lot easier to get a hold of.

I used photshop for the ones I made.

But, the characters aren't brushes. Their cut out of the original pictures and pasted on. I blend to make them look right. <3

Like the one I did for Sairensa, the only brushes used were for the background and the wings. <3

I download a lot of my brushes from deviantart. They have a lot of good ones there.

I hunted down a tutorial to make my own brushes.

All ya have to do is find a picture, cut out the parts you want, desaturate the picture, select the area you want with a marquee, and then select 'define brush'.

Well, that's how you do it on my version, anyway.

Jessie's way is probably easier, though. <3

Haven't tried that myself but I'd imagine they would just use the line and fill tools on another layer and just tone down the opacity? *guessing*

None of the brushes I download stay in my program and then i can't get it back in there. Mine program is old, I believe.

They're very, very nice.

And yeah, I just use the rectangular marquee to make the line, make a new layer, fill the marquee on that layer, and then change the layer opacity.

I have Photoshop 5.5. You might have to use the 'Save brushes' option if it's deleting them like that.
