I'm confused about Tamama too O-o; I'm not 100% sure if he's really gay, but he really does have a crush on Keroro xD I remember I was reading the manga once and he was like, "No matter what, I WILL have a love affair with Keroro" or something along those lines confused Yeah, that would be Vol. 4. In fact, the manga is rather explicit about his feelings about Keroro in general, but Vol. 4 is full of it (*cough*NewYears*cough*).
The anime definitely displays the affection but doesn't really elaborate, which in my opinion is a bit of a shame. People spend a lot of time arguing and debating Tama's sexuality which gets kind of messy a lot of the time because sexuality isn't really that clear cut in real life.
Personally I think he's gay, he could even swing both ways, but I find that so refreshing about him. Unlike many potentially/established homosexual characters, Tamama's personality isn't built around it. He just IS, you know? I think he was wonderfully conceptualized - as much as I think it's too bad that the anime only dances around it (whereas the manga is so much more explicit), I do appreciate that they've made him so much more than just a character defined by who he loves/wants.
So, yes, I definitely think he's a man-lover, to what degree I don't know (nor does it really matter in my opinion) and I definitely think he's a stronger character for it.
(note: I studied gender anthropology in university so if this seemed a bit rant-ish, I'm sorry! If KG had come into my life any earlier I could have written an entire essay on Tama but I won't bore you with the academic mumbo-jumbo. I hope I didn't come across as being high-and-mighty!)
I like your take on it, Tonsei
