The true hilarity in this little practical joke is that it not only screws with someone's mental wiring, but it also has something like 95% success rate.
Here's how it goes: 1. Walk up to a friend/co-worker/family member/j-random stranger on the street. 2. Point to 4-6 white objects in quick succession saying as you point to each one "What colour is this?" and letting them answer "White." 3. Once you've got them rolling, suddenly ask "What do cows drink?"
I can almost guarantee you they'll say "Milk."
Here's what I want to know... why does this work? Is it just linear thinking or what?

Another:
Write "carrot" on a scrap of paper and set it aside so your "mark" can't see it (fold it, put it face down, whatever.)
Ask them in quick succession, telling them to answer every question without thinking: What is 5+10 (let them answer 15), 10+5, 7+8, 8+7, 5+10, 10+5, letting them answer 15 each time, do this for several moments, then ask "name a vegetable" About 9 times out of 10, they will say "carrot". Hand then the scrap of paper with "Carrot" written on it.

Because the brain associates "15" or "5" with orange. I have actually had people say "orange" instead of "carrot"

I have actually had people say "orange" instead of "carrot" I wonder if it would work on a synaesthesiac o.O Most of us have very odd colour/object associations. Then again objects/letters don't have colours for me, I just taste colours, lol. I can smell light too, it's weird. Like sunlight smells different from fluorescent lights. Yeah... I'm kinda strange sweatdrop

Either because milk's white or because cows create milk and it's the first association we make with them (Or a mixture between the two). @ Duke Roya: I don't see the connection there.

The connection is mostly just between the first drink that comes to mind when one thinks, "cow." Incidentally, it's also white. Regardless of what is known, it's the first thing the brain connects.
As for the other puzzle, there are a bunch of those. It's really bizarre, though; I've been subject to a great many and come up with out-of-the-ordinary results. My mind makes different connections, and it's hard to say why.
I'd like to test these on someone who speaks another language, though, and see how the results would vary.
