"Ah, thank you."
Adeline replied quietly, slipping into the room before another look could be cast even in her general vacinity. It was for his words and his chivalry, and she mentally slapped herself for not making it sound more meaningful. Any encouragement was worth something to her.
She was sure that Pedro's tragedy was probably worse than hers, and as far as she became tempted to ask him what had happened, she didn't want to impose. Being she was practically a stranger, it didn't make much sense to question the most personal aspects of his life. She was thankful to be blessed with a room mate so understanding, and she swore to herself she'd try her best to be non-superficial as well (Which, to her, was alot to ask.)
The room itself puzzled her. It was bare, containing only two keys and a small sheet of paper. Adeline cast a confused look towards the items, before looking towards Pedro.
"What do you think this is for?"
The keys had obvious purpose- what could you much do with a key than open a door? One had her name, one had his, and she stuffed her own in her cardigan's pocket and outstreched the other towards him, using the hand left over to flip the paper over. The entire sheet, infact, was blank.
"How strange."
She murmured, referring to the blank paper she couldn't stop examining. Adeline always seemed to miss something

Pedro shut the door behind him, cutting off their whispers and jeers of disgust directed towards the girl who was supposedly a witch. He found it odd they were talking about her, calling her a freak. After all, they also had powers, making them freaks too. He shook his head, muttering something about '******** hypocrites'. Before he could walk off to the balcony for a cigarette, a question disrupted his entire system. He turned to Adeline and looked at the paper.
"I think you're supposed to write down whatever you want in the room... Basically, it's an easy form of interior design. However you want the dorm to look like, just write it down."
It was as good of an explanation as he could give. For Pedro, explaining things was never his forte. He was more of the kind of person who taught through demonstration. Gently, he took the pad of paper from her hands and, with hands that always felt numb, wrote down something simple in neat script, which was a surprise to most people.
'72" plasma TV'
He moved over to look in the lounge room, and sure enough, a TV was morphing seemingly out of existence. Though with no explanation, not that he was complaining. Smiling, Pedro placed it back into Adeline's hands.
"Here you go, chica. Design the room however you want."
And with that, he strolled off to his room to change his clothes and then smoke, interested to see what she was going to do with the dorm.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 16, 2008 12:20 pm

She nodded in regards to his directions, as he dissapeared, she assumed, to go change.
I should probably change too...
The thought was played around with in her mind for a couple seconds, before she decided instead to decorate first. Spaces lacking style irritated her, as stuck-up as it sounded. Adeline took the pen and began to write furiously fast, satisfied knowing the items would appear around her as she raised her pen. In less than five minutes, the room emitted a modern, edgy vibe. She flashed her brilliant smile at her work. It had elements of class braided in with certain pieces, considering there were things she didn't think any room should be equipt without (Like an espresso machine.) The rest was improv, guessing at Pedro's taste and doing all in her power to combine it with her own for a happy medium. It was opposing her room at home, which was understated, theme only light pastels and lace. Making a furniture statement felt like winning some competition, and she shed the former graceful walk she used for a much brighter, skip/twirl sort of routine.
"When you're done changing, tell me. I need to get on diffrent clothes, too."
Exploring the school would be uncomfortable in the same soaked threads that hung on her frame right now, but since she respected privacy, Adeline refrained from walking in and just taking one. Instead her funny movements lead to the bathroom, where she flicked on the light before extracting a squirt of some hair product from a bottle sitting nearby. She rubbed it through her long, raven locks, needing multiple squirts to reach the flowing end. Then she picked up the blowdrier, and began the irritating and time consuming task of drying her hair.

'Dear Tirza...'

Pedro began mentally, tossing his wet jacket over a chair and pulling off his two shirts and replacing them with a simple, loose tank-top of equal red persuasion. He switched out his basketball shorts for a pair of black jeans that were, surprisingly, only slightly baggy. Turning to the full length mirror, a vat of hair gel in his hand, Pedro let out a forlorn sigh. Eyes still blackened.
'Willow bailed me out of jail yesterday. And he's still insisting I go here to learn better control of my powers...'
It was always like this, these unwritten, never spoken of letters to the girl he couldn't help but love. They remained inside of his head, as well as the diary. Looks deceived and no one expected him to be the sort of love letter, secret diary kind of guy... Which was exactly why he kept it in his head.
'I went along with it, but, the real reason I came to the academy was to be near you... Well, you don't know it yet.'
As he fixed his hair back into it's usual spikes, Pedro began to wonder an overused thought. What if would the letters look like written down? Read out loud? It would be too much and he couldn't grasp the feeling if Tirza were to reject him. Oh, the damage it would do to his heart. His heart so fragile, yet, no one seemed to know at all. Except for her. She only understood.
Softly, he sighed, putting the gel back down on the nightstand and sitting on his bed, which was neatly made with sheets of red upon a water bed. He sunk into it, setting out a socked foot so that he could put on his converse, that equally matched the vans which were now soaking wet.
'I'm coming to see you soon. Don't worry. Maybe this year... You'll be mine.'
Maybe this year, he needed to move on. Tirza was so oblivious... So sweet and innocent... Just another something he could never have. Pedro shook off the blackness in his eyes and exchanged it for green as he went out of the bedroom, into the lounge room. "Wow... This place looks nice." He gasped, a smile of sincerity to Adeline, whom he nodded to before heading out to the balcony, where, he only opened the door and stood, not wanting to get wet. He was completely lost in his own thoughts.
'Love, Pedro.

Love, Pedro...
'

His statement probably meant he'd finished changing, and she turned off the noisy dryer, setting it down on the bathroom's countertop and checking herself once in the mirror. The onyx locks were poofy, a case easily cured by a brush. For right now, she didn't mind much, and started her quest to the bedroom.
Pedro appeared devoured by thought and she skipped the thank you, knowing that any sort of conversation while you were thinking was simply annoying.

Her wardrobe seemed empty. Every piece she owned was high-style, and the attention it grabbed as it hung from her body wasn't quite what she was looking for. Especially not since one of her more modest outfits (despite being wet) captured looks when she wasn't trying. Adeline had no doubt in the world most of the clothes were built to scream for attention, but had she packed one more timid? In her pajama drawer, she discovered a plain cream top, with a V-neck, so it wasn't totally lost for style. Donning simple ripped jeans and a headband after brushing out her hair, Adeline felt prepared to face the crowds.
"Pedro, I'm gonna go now. Catch you later."

He nodded, barely listening. All Pedro knew was that he was alone again. Finishing what would eventually lead to some form of cancer later on, he flicked out the cigarette and stood, shutting the balcony door and cutting off the coolness and unwelcoming splatter of rain. Eyes dark once more, he only had one mission in mind now. If all went well, blackened eyes would surely become but a rarity.
'Time to start a reunion.'
Pedro told himself as he locked up room Fourteen's door and headed down the hall, instinct telling him Tirza's room was nearby. He passed each door with but a glance, the fancy gold-lettering not at all catching his eye. Until he finally came across the five-lettered name of the girl he... Pedro gulped, knocking. Waiting. A minute or so passed in silence, indicating that the owner of the room was not present. He frowned at the sight of her name wedged between to other guy's names.
'They better not try to mess around with her.'
Oh how little the easily jealous Mexican knew. Mindset to a new mission, he decided that she was likely with Justin and headed down the hall, stopping at Dorm three where he saw his homeboy's name. Fist lifted, a familiar patterned knock that only Justin would recognize and not mistake for anothers. A smile on his face, Pedro braced himself. Things were finally going to start going his way.

For once.

Ah, yes, the dormitory. She opened the door, wide enough so she wouldn't have to hold it open for Sean. Hopefully he would enter on his own account- she couldn't stand it when people stood even with the doorframe and gawked, awaiting an invitation in. The interior decoration still looked good, which was reassuring. It happened from time to time, she'd decorate a room and enter a week later despising what she'd done. If that was the case, Adeline guessed redecoration was always an option. There was complete silence, besides the sound of her bustling and her footfalls, meaning there was also a good chance her room mate was out still. A complete relief, since she wasn't quite in the mood to introduce herself to his old friends, acquantinces, whatever. They could infiltrate the dorm when she was gone. Walking into the bedroom, she quickly dug into a drawer, pulling out the pink digital camera. It had been a perk from one of the spreads she had done earlier that year, and was barely used. Photographs of hers were always captured professionally. Looking at the buttons, totally clueless to how they worked, she walked back out to where Sean stood.

"Alright, tahdah, here it is." She held up the camera. "I hope you know how it works, I don't. Let's get going."

Sean walked into her dorm and looked around as Adeline looked for her camera. It looked nice. He was quiet until she found it. "Yeah I know how to use it." he said after seeing the camera. Had she not used it before for anything? Oh well he knew how to use it because he had once had one. "Ok." he said as he walked out of the room and into the hallway waiting on her. Seeing her room made him remember he had to unpack and decorate his room or at least his side. That could be done later. He smiled as he reached out for the camera seeing how he would probably be taking the pictures unless he showed her how. He walked down the hall to go to the Library.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 3:13 pm

Adeline entered the dorm, completely exhausted. Avoiding glares had consumed all of her energy, as well getting tripped and then nearly stampeded on. She was thankful she'd been born agile. Atleast everybody she'd met today seemed nice. Her arms raised above her head as she yawned, completely aware of the emptiness surrounding her. Pedro was still off having a reunion, or whatever the meeting was to him, and that was completely fine with her. She didn't quite feel like putting forth effort into being graceful and perfect, her tripping over the coffee table made that much evident.

She tumbled her way over to the door leading outside, staring up at the midnight-blue sky. The rain couldn't be detected with a simple glance out the window, but it was still making small rivers down the glass. And what else mirror the pitter-patter so well? Adeline turned away, rapidly walking to the bedroom and changing almost as fast. Her pajamas were simple, shorts and a tank top. Onyx locks were pulled back into a high ponytail, and swung against her back as she crawled into the bed. She should of suspected that the sleeping conditions would be perfect. With a tiny sigh of happiness, she lidded her eyes, and eventually faded into sleep.

Pedro was spent. Emotionally and physically. Yawning, he shrugged off his jacket and made his way to the room, where by the sound of heavy breathing, he could tell his roomie was asleep. Fast asleep. Flicking on the dim desk-lamp, he pulled his most prized possession from its nest in the drawer. Holding a circular music box with a lamb on top, the boy opened it, sifting through the valuables. A small, gold bracelet that still fit him as a child, a ticket from a movie with the name long faded. The music box was the only memory Pedro truly had of his mother, whom to this day even, was a mystery to him. He wound the box p and nestled into the covers, allowing the song to play all the way through. Near the haunting end, he was already fast into dreamland.

Adeline was a little dissapointed. Her dream the night before hadn't been anything special- it was one of those reoccuring dreams that were exciting the first three times you had them. This was probably the fifth time, atleast, and she could recite the events. Firstly, she was walking home from her language tutor's house, when she opened her mouth to speak, and BAM, everything around her burst into flames. Then she started to see eerie faces lit by the flames, murmuring insults and profanities as she tried to ignore the off-the-charts creepy factor. Oh. And then her house exploded. If it was going to be reoccuring, it should atleast have a nice plot. As was custom, she tensed all of the muscles in her legs and arms, making sure the blood was flowing properly through her limbs before she pushed the covers from her lap. Pedro was still asleep- or so it appeared. He looked like he'd just crashed the last night, and may not be awake for another couple of hours. That was okay, as long as he wouldn't be irritated when he did arise.

She was doing her best to be subtle and quiet with all of her actions. Changing and even showering were done discreetly, in best attempt not to awaken her room mate. Of course, she had to leave her shoes by the porch door, and ended up tripping over the pair of flats and crashing into the glass. It was a single 'THUD!', but it was fairly loud. "Yeouch." She murmured. That was about when her cheek began to feel funny- an odd combonation of complete pain and stinging that she lifted a hand to make sure nothing had happened. Lucky for her, something had. Blood was gushing from the gash, and she tried her hardest not to squeel in fear as she ran (on her tiptoes) to the bathroom, inspecting the damage in the mirror.
After cleaning up the blood, temporarily, she could see the nearly perfectly straight line pulled across her right cheek. Her face must have skimmed on the doorhandle as she'd fallen. This had better not scar...
Melancholy, close to tears, and in complete pain she quickly bandaged the cut, crossing her fingers the incident still hadn't been a disturbance.

Dreams no longer meant anything as they simply portrayed no meaning. It was merely a phantom of horror and memory summoned together from the endless days back when. He could only be reminded, only be frightened, when he came to see sleep wasn't in his favor much like Tirza's. Pedro's eyes were always amber when he woke and his body always ached. Through the night, he twitched violently and his body always spasmed, causing him to hit a wall or something of the sorts. This night was no different, of course. From facing the wall, he rolled to face Adeline's bed, which was now empty. For a while he listened to the silence, only to have it shattered by a thud and an exclamation of pain. An eyebrow rose and he pulled himself off the bed to a heavy feeling of melancholy. Was his roommate sad upon awakening or was it because she'd harmed herself? Only one way to find out.
Yawning and idly scratching his stomach, Pedro came across an open door in the bathroom to see Adeline with a bandage on her face. Closing his eyes, he allowed himself to feel some of her pain signature. He said nothing afterward, only turning to the balcony which held a carnival of plants and flowers. From this, he cut off the tip of an aloe vera plant and brought it back inside, wordlessly, until he reached the bathroom. "Here. Use this on the cut. It'll heal it faster and lessen the impact of a brutal scar." He held the green, dripping piece out to Adeline, expecting her to take it and use it, though, there was a more probable chance she'd expect him to do it for her. Not that he quite minded.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 11:45 am

Adeline was ready to make the great escape into the hall, where she could feel free to cry out in pain as the cut continued to sting. She hadn't hurt herself in forever. The crimson of the blood soaking through the make-shift bandanging was alarming to her, especially the rate at which it spread. Suddenly, she noticed Pedro standing in the doorway. He was making an offering of the tip of a plant, informing her of how it would contribute to the healing of her cut. She didn't know what it was, the snippet had a clean cut across the top, probably meaning he had retrieved it only recently. Adeline felt bad, almost guilty as she took the fresh piece from him. She had woken him up, and was now making him take care of her own clumsiness. Wait, he'd mentioned something about scarring.
s**t.
Her parents wouldn't be thrilled to hear about probably permanently marking up her award-winning face. No, they'd be pissed. Adeline was hesitant to tear off the piece of gauze and tape that she'd used. The sterile white was already almost completely covered with blood. Wincing, she quickly stripped her face of the bandaging, dropping it in the garbage. Rapidly she grabbed a towel to stop the blood that was already collecting around the opening. "Listen, Pedro, I'm really sorry if I woke you up." Her voice was exassperated and concerned at the same time, eyebrows furrowed as she swiped away a fresh flow.
"And thank you for the help." She wasn't quite sure how to to apply the herbal medicine, therefore simply shed the towel and quickly replaced it with the plant, rubbing it over the cut quickly. "I hope I'm doing this right. To be honest, I haven't cut myself like this in forever." She laughed, but it had anxious qualities. It wouldn't scar, it wouldn't scar, it wouldn't scar. Adeline felt vain, willing the cut to heal so her apperance could become regulated again. Cover-up wouldn't suffice. "Y-you can go back to bed, if needbe. I'm really sorry, again, that I woke you up..."
She felt humbled by his willingness to assist her, and naturally shy. Her posture perfectly portrayed her feelings.
Eyes were cast towards the floor, neck bent so her face was turned downwards, one arm clutched to her chest. Her face was even tinted red from the humiliation. She'd never showed anybody the side of her that wasn't a model- the one that was just a normal, klutzy teenager. Now the alter ego was peeking out from under the thick mask- dressed in her pajamas, makeup-less, hair undone and now displaying her uncoordination.
Gah, she hated impressions.

"Estas nada."

Came his reply as Pedro gave her a weak smile, feeling his intentional cut from last night burn all too suddenly with resurfacing of memory. Pedro winced and turned from Adeline to head into his room, deciding to pay his friends a visit for breakfast. Hopefully, Justin was going to make pancakes. He disappeared for a moment, but, came out wearing ripped jeans and this. Trying to ignore the pain on his hip, Pedro went back over to the bathroom to collect his hair gel, deciding this time to slick his hair back, which, decidingly, looked much better. "Listen, I'm about to go to my friends dorm for breakfast. Wanna come along with me?" He asked, staring into the large mirror before picking up the tip of the plant. Wondering if he should take his own advice instead and rub the goo on his cut... No, mistakes deserved to heal all by themselves.

He picked up new bandages from the cabinet, he placed them in front of Adeline before heading to the threshold of the bathroom door and leaning there, looking at her. She looked completely different then yesterday. Less like a China doll, more like a human girl.

And he liked it.
