Okay. You guys know by now that I have assumed management of HSH.
To get things going a bit, I'm going to do some restructuring. To that end, I have created a new subforum dedicated to pastiche, so that I can clean out the main forum a bit and make room for a bunch of new topics. My idea is that a total overhaul will make people at least want to look around before blowing off this sad little guild.
I really, really would like you people who may be lurking to reply to this topic and tell me if there is anything specific you thing would revitalise HSH. Talk me into it. I am willing to pour time and effort into this guild, and I would really appreciate it if you guys would pour a little bit of brain power into it. Thanks ever so.

Nothing specific, I don't think.
Except maybe you could make official discussion threads for various adventures. That would boost the post count quite a bit, and it would give us all something to talk about. I just need to find my old copies of the books and give them another once-over so I'll be up to par.

I don't write Holmes, but I love reading! whee
I hope you'll keep the informational subforum Holmes created. It has a lot of good links for info on Victorian England, London, fashion, slang, etc.

Yeah. I'm digging up links for some of my old favourite Holmes fanfics that I can post, and I'll be making a special Mary Russell thread, because I'm obsessed. <3
And I'm definitely keeping the informational subforum. I use that info a lot in some of the works I'm writing myself, and it just is really great stuff.

I'm on it. More subforums will make the guild shinier anyway, so lurkers will have more incentive to join.

This doesn't seem like a guild that needs many major changes. It's got good bones. Just needs a bit of life.

Yeah, Holmes made a good guild--it did get pretty random & off-topic sometimes, but it was still good. smile

...What do you people say to the idea of a forensics/true crime/investigative method subforum? I'd had an idea for it, but wasn't sure whether it could actually be pulled off. I was sitting and thinking about some of the chemical reactions and stuff the Master used, and found it an interesting topic. Like the reagent that reacts only to the presence of haemoglobin. It might get technical in places, but it might be fun speculation nevertheless.

I think it will be a very slow & quiet subforum, but sure! That's what Holmes is all about, after all.

You might also want to create a subforum in which to tuck away threads that are dead but you don't want to dispose of--like Holmes' "I Has A Nose" thread. smile They can still be looked back on when you wish, but they're filed away.

Oh, yeah. You just wouldn't want to see this nightmare warehouse of piled-up books, magazines, comics, art stuff, DVDs, old VHS tapes, etc. etc. etc. I live in.... gonk WAYYY too small for my heaps of stuff.
