not a book, but a good read by an author i admire:
The Flying Woman, by Meg McCarron. fiction.

also worthy of mention is Mark Haddon's novel, "A Spot of Bother", which is, again, a work of fiction.
it's a lovely little insight to humanity through the story of the family of a man struggling to politely lose his mind.

and if you're just searching for something funny to pass the time, i am wholly reccomending
Joey Comeau's series of works in the form of cover letters sent to various companies, titled Over-qualified.

I highly suggest the Gemma Doyle trilogy, by Libba Bray.

It's incredibly awesome, and I love it so much.
It takes place in 189O's London and also a little in India.
It's great and I know you will not regret reading it.
If you don't love the story itself, you might like Libba Brays writing style.

I thought the EXACT same thing. XD The song started playing in my head.

But in any case, on topic, I saw the BBC presentation of Tipping the Velvet, and it was pretty good. I didn't know there was a book, but I'll bet it was better. I think I'll pick it up. Thanks. ^^

Clan of the Cave Bear (series) by Jean M. Auel (nature/historic)
The Hallows Series by Kim Harrison (supernatural)

I have many more that I love but I can't think of them now.

Oh, Karen Marie Moning, she does a Highlander series that is a supernatural historical romance series. You can read the books in whatever order, they only subtley go together but they're great. She also has a "Fever" series (Faefever, Darkfever, Bloodfever, Dreamfever, etc.) that is mainly supernatural adventure with some romance thrown in. She's one of my favorite authors, I can't believe I forgot about her razz

Hm. Got to love any time people ask me what books I like every title I've ever read disapears from my brain. I really enjoyed "One Flew Over A Coo-Coos Nest"
But I'm not even sure if I spelled that title correctly, let alone do I know the author.
I'm pretty sure that and Tom Sawyer are the only two classic books i've ever enjoyed.

Oh, wait.
Farenhieght 451. That book is amazing, but you have to be able to understand its true meaning to get anything out of it, many people cannot grasp it. Drives me crazy.

Orwell's books are potent. Sometimes hard to read, but good. Animal Farm was enjoyable.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is by Ken Kesey and Farenheit 451 is by Ray Bradbury. Hope that helps.

I'm going to take a moment to brag and say that my copy of Farenheit 451 is signed, and that Ray Bradbury spoke at my local library. He's amazing.
