The world is widely inhabited by creatures that we call Pokemon. They range from all sorts of sizes. Big to small. Short to tall. Some people choose to keep Pokemon as pets; others choose to trainer them and enter contests and gym battles. Some choose to breed them. In the world of Pokemon, only you can decide what happens. That is the world that was familiar to most, that is until one day about five years ago something happened. The earth seemed to tremble, and the pokemon we had come to live harmoniously with changed. The pokemon became violent and even deadly. Those that weren't trained well attacked their trainers, and then escaped back into the wild. Daycares and gyms were left in shambles. Everything had changed in the blink of an eye. People began to fear the pokemon they had once loved. Some were even to afraid to leave their homes. Tourism was on the decline and some of the larger cities suffered. No one wanted to travel, the forest roads were far too dangerous. A lucky few managed to keep their pokemon under control. The trainers of old and the pokemon who had been at their side from the beginning. Some tried to just live peacefully, while others decided they needed to take action. Those that missed the thrill of pokemon battles became exterminators. Hunting down violent pokemon for a price. Meanwhile others became hunters, capturing pokemon and forcing them into submission by using violent methods. Trained pokemon were rare, so they were quite valuable. A hunter made a good living by selling pokemon whose spirit had been broke. The old days where young boys and girls could embark on their own journey of self discovery with their pokemon seemed to be over. However, there are still those who refused to let the old days die. Stubborn kids who believe that Pokemon could still be tamed and gentle. These are the kids that grew up thinking of nothing but training their own team. They wouldn't let their dreams die so easily, even in these dangerous times they would find a way to become the very best...Like no one ever was.

_____My name is Red, I’ve lived in the sleepy hamlet of Pallet town all my life. The verdent fields stretch on for miles and until several years ago, Pokemon could be seen dashing across the horizon and flying through the skies passing by the electricity producing windmills. Time was, when you turned ten years old you were allowed to venture out into the region with a partner pokemon as a right of passage. Then, on a clear and starry night, my tenth birthday to be exact, the sky lit up with fire as three balls of flames came crashing down somewhere on our planet. After that, all the pokemon started to disappear into the forests and tall grass. As if the very planet were crying out and every pokemon answered it’s cry with agitation and then violence. After that, all the pokemon that I had come to know and all the rules governing our coexistence changed. I wasn’t allowed to venture out of the town without a trainer escort, no one was. Pokemon no longer ran freely through the fields and Old professor oak’s research centre fell into shambles as the many pokemon he kept there rampaged and escaped into the surrounding area. A new breed of pokemon trainers appeared after this. Adults, and with long tamed pokemon by their side they proceeded to exterminate any poke threats in the surrounding area. The cries I heard in the following weeks would haunt me.
_____Almost three years later was the next time I saw a wild pokemon. A small pride of Growlithe were resting on the outskirts of the town. I was the rebelious teen, ignoring all the warnings, all the orders and just about anything else I was told. I went for a look see and, and they looked normal. Travelling together with an arcanine, taking in food and water as they travelled the fields. I watched with fascination, inching ever closer. Wanting to be part of that world that was forbidden to me. Though I never wold have actually thought I’d get my chance. The Arcanine of the group turned it’s head, it’s pointed ears strained to hear the grass parting as someone braver than I approached. Well, I wouldn’t say braver. More prepared, but the only people who were prepared were either trainers or exterminators. A lanky man, dressed in leather and sporting a purple mohawk and tons of peircings. He threw a small ball that erupted with a flash. A fierce dragon like pokemon slithered about the ground, it’s jaws looking as if they could crush steel and it’s terrible lashing was knocking trees about as if they were twigs. _____“Gyrados, Rain Dance!” the man called out. The gyrados loosed a thunderous roar and dark clouds began to circle. The rain fell in buckets, the Arcanines powerful flames seemed to do nothing but irritate the water pokemon in the rain. The trainer stood behind his pokemon, an umbrella on hand with a malicious grin over his thin twisted lips. The arcanine, knowing it was outmatched, stood between the gyrados and the growlithe and took blow after blow of violent water attacks until it could no longer stand. The firece pokemon, in a lastditch effort for victory, used it’s remaining strength to lunge at the trainer, it’s fangs blazing red hot. The gyrados was too quick as it spun around the great dog pokemon and began to crush the breath from it’s lungs. I...I couldn’t watch after IU heard the first snapping noise. After that I heard the small growlithe whining in pain, and again I did nothing. I was too afraid to even move in the face of that pokemon. I don’t know if I could have even helped, but doing nothing didn’t seem right. After the rain started to clear and sun of the day came back, a walked into the battlefield of the two pokemon and I cried in the dur of the now still arcanine.
_____Twenty minutes later, after my tears had dried. As boys are meant to be tough even the saddest and most distraught of times. I gathered up the tiny growlithe and placed them next to the arcanine. As I moved the bodies, underneath one of the growlithes I found the tiniest of eggs nestled underneath it. Already feeling terrible, I had no other choice but to take the egg with me. I’m sure anyone would have done the same....well, except maybe that...exterminator. I hated him, resented him. What had the world come to and why was no one trying to fix it. That thought had fostered in my mind for two years, until I decided it was time to do something about it. With my pokemon, a Growlithe named Sunny.
_____I heard from my father that every trainer needs a rival to truly excel. I had a rival, she was the biggest bully I’ve ever known and then the best friend I ever had. I say had because the two of us had a falling out over the egg. I don’t know if it was concern, jealousy or some other reason. But I refused to let her send the newborn growlithe away and I took care of it instead.
_____Sunny hatched from his egg on the sunniest day in mid summer and the name just seemed to fit. The pup thrived in the sunlight, bounding through fields with me lagging behind, his tongue hanging from his mouth as he ran. I couldn’t imagine how I lived without a best friend like that before. It was a breath of fresh air for the town as well, the neighbours grew fond of the one pokemon that didn’t seem to scream and attack on sight. She was the only one who never seemed to make friends with sunny. After school each day, Sunny and I would head out into the green fields and train together. Though, even after 2 years of training, not a lick of fire would come from Sunny’s jaws. That fact never seemed to bother me though, what would everyone think if a tree out in the fields suddenly burst into flames. Would they begin to alienate sunny, hate him. Would they hire an exterminator once again. Speaking of the exterminator, the one who robbed sunny of his first family. He was hired by the town to take care of a “Dangerous” Fire pokemon claiming territory in the fields. He was an ex Orange league trainer turned exterminator and he was hired, and paid a bonus for elminating the growlithe.
_____On my fifteenth birthday, I received a special present in the mail. A pokedex and a signed letter.
_____“In the world which you are about to enter, you will embark on a grand adventure with you as the hero. You’ll speak with new people and find interesting things wherever you go be it towns, roads, or caves. New paths will open up to you by helping those in need, overcoming many challenges and solving the mysteries surrounding.
_____At times, you will be challenged by others like you and you will most definately be attacked by wild creatures. But you have your reasons in which you must be brave and push on. Through this adventure, I have the fondest hope that you will interact with all sorts of people and achieve personal growth. But above all, remember this isn’t the romantic world from ten years ago. _____________________________________________Sincerely, Professor Oak.”
_____I honestly couldn’t help but smile as I read the letter one last time before stepping into the tall grass.

[x] My name is Yuzuki Fudori, and ever since I can remember I’ve lived in Pallet town. It’s a quaint little town, but there have been some pretty amazing people who have come from it really. And my dad is one of them, Arashi Fudori. In his younger years he was a trainer with endless potential. He loved to tell stories about the adventures he had while earning his gym badges. I would always sit on the edge of my seat when he talked about those days. He was my idol, everything I wanted to be, a great trainer with an extensive collection of badges and stories to go along with each and every one of them. My father probably would have continued to travel and train his team after I was born if it weren’t for my mom falling ill. She had never been in the best of health to begin with, and she only seemed to get worse. I still remember being called to her room one night before bed. She kept saying things like I was going to grow up and be the most beautiful girl in the whole town. She sounded as if she was imagining it, like she wasn’t going to be there to see it for herself. I was pretty young, and probably didn’t realize this was a goodbye. It didn’t hit me until the next morning, cause dad was crying, and mom was no where to be seen. The next few months were a little weird for me, people always looking at me with sympathy. Dad cried sometimes, but I found that if I asked him to tell me a story...he stopped and would smile again. After some time passed he began to smile more often. He didn’t travel anymore, instead he stayed with me. I grew up around his stories and his pokemon team. Our love for pokemon always seemed to make both of us smile. And I knew that someday I would find a partner of my own, and be just like my dad.
When a kid turned ten, they were supposed to find a partner and begin the process of becoming a trainer. My dad did it, so I planned to as well. However I would never get that chance. Before I even turned ten it happened, the pokemon turned on the humans. Something happened to make them go berserk; they would assault people that they came across. Some of them even attacked the town itself. Everything was thrown into chaos, even old professor Oaks lab was deserted. He couldn’t control the pokemon he studied any longer. Although there were some previously tamed pokemon that kept there sanity. Like most of my fathers team. None of them dared to raise a finger against my father or myself. Despite their species going crazy, they remained loyal to my father. However they were not the only ones, many trainers kept control over their pokemon. Thus was born the exterminator. A trainer who used his team to ‘protect’ the people by killing off rogue pokemon. People thought of them as saviors, I though of them as murders. I could not deny that pokemon had become dangerous, I had seen many people hurt by them. I myself had been attacked by a fearow once, managing to escape with the aid of my fathers scyther. However I still didn’t believe in a complete poke genocide! And it wasn’t just the exterminators, there were the hunters as well. People who captured pokemon, only to thrash them into obedience…then sell them off like they were merchandise. I saw a handful of them, always coming to my door asking for dad. However I always asked them to leave, all of them wanted one thing and one thing alone…my dads pokemon. Trained pokemon were worth a fortune now that a majority of them had gone wacko.
Despite al the chaos, my father maintained his love of pokemon. Perhaps it was a reason he refused to exterminate those that were a threat. If it was necessary he would fight a belligerent pokemon, only until it was too tired or passed out. Never in a million years would he deliberately take a pokemon’s life. And that’s when it all began. My father was once a revered man in the town, but now, be was looked down upon. Many people thought that he was wrong not to exterminate the pokemon that threatened the town. They seemed to think he was betraying them in a sense. The Furdori name was no longer as honorable as if had once been. Now people said it with bitterness and disapproval. Perhaps that was around the time I became to be known as a bully. I was only about ten, almost eleven. The kids at school were anything but kind. They liked to talk crap bout my dad, and I wasn’t going to just sit back and take it. I began to engage in more fights, making threats and all that. Basically I was just instilling fear into the hearts of my classmates so they wouldn’t even think of ever talking about my dad again. So call me a troublemaker if you wish, but I was only doing what I felt I needed to. One person seemed to understand that, and that was Red. He managed to ignore my temper and get close enough for me to call him a friend. He shared me and my dad’s ideals, which made him okay in my book. He was probably the only real friend I ever made.
Although, I even managed to go and mess that up as well. When Red and I were thirteen, he showed me something, something that shocked me to the core. It was an egg, a pokemon egg. I was flabbergasted, it was rare to find one because it was dangerous to go anywhere near a pokemon’s nest. I had really mixed emotions about what he had to show me. He was clearly excited at the possibility of having his own pokemon. I on the other hand was jealous and maybe a little afraid. I mean what if it hatched and was already vicious, it could attack him. Also, if he had a pokemon it would be like he had a new best friend. He would spend more and more time training it, and then what? What would become of me? Okay I know it sounds completely selfish, but I couldn’t help it. I was thirteen and felt like there was a chance I might lose the only friend I had. So I did the only thing I could think of, I urged him to get rid of it. He seemed shocked by my reaction, most likely thinking I would be as overjoyed as he was. Needless to say I blew the whole thing out of proportion and create a huge fight. Red refused to get rid of it, and he is about as stubborn as I’am so I knew he wasn’t going to give in. So I did the only thing I could think of, I cut ties with him. I didn’t want to be around when the pokemon hatched and took my place, For some reason I felt it would be easier for me to just end it before I could really get hurt. Heh, some genius I was. I went back to being the punk, causing trouble for people who gave me trouble. Dad saw the sudden change in my behavior and knew something was up. When Red was around I was more level headed, probably because I knew he was someone I could count on to back me up, or stand up for me and my family. In a sense, he made me feel like I wasn’t some outsider. And with us not talking I was alone again. And I had forgotten how much I hated being alone…..
I saw Red and his newly hatched Growlithe around quite lot. The thing was just so darn adorable, and seemed to be harmless. It just followed him around constantly; there was a bond between a pokemon and its trainer that only another trainer could understand. I couldn’t help but feel a stab of jealously knowing that Red got to know that feeling, and I didn’t. He had his new best friend, and all I had was a lot of detention. Sunny as loved by the entire town, and my Dad finally sat me down to talk. When he got into super dad mode it was kinda funny. He always tries to be real serious, yet at the same time he is a little afraid to push his point across. He had never been good with lecturing it seems. Well basically all he had to say, was that I shouldn’t be so stubborn and I should patch things up with Red. Obviously I had been wrong about the egg being dangerous, so there was no real reason to keep fighting right? Well that was partly true, but I wasn’t going to tell him the real reason why I cut ties. Damn me and my insecurities…damn me and my stubbornness. There was no way I was going to tell Red that I was afraid I would be replaced by a ball of fluff. It was just much easier to keep a distance and get on with our lives.
And that’s what we did. I saw him at school and that was it basically. Cause after school he and Sunny would go off to train, while I was stuck in detention hall for threatening another student. Life for me in Pallet town was going nowhere, and all I wanted was to get out. I just wanted to get away from everything, go somewhere where no one knew me, where no one whispered things about me or my family behind my back. So I decided I was going to leave, I must have been crazy now that I think back on it. When I got home I found my dad asleep in his chair. I left a note, packed my things and left…probably not the smartest thing in the world. A fourteen year old girl trying to make her way through the forest to the next town without any protection is just a recipe for disaster. Yeah, probably the stupidest thing I ever did, yet one of the best things. If it weren’t for me trying to run away, I would have never found Spike. I had gotten pretty far without incident, and thought that just maybe I could get to Viridian city without any trouble. I spoke a little too soon though, I heard a frightened squeak from somewhere in the bushes. Although I knew leaving the path was more dangerous, I did it anyways. For some reason I just had to find the source of the noise. I parted some bushes and saw something awful. It was an Ekans, and wrapped in its coils was a tiny yellow mouse, eyes closed and body limp. I’m not sure what came over me, but before I knew it I was leaping at the Ekans with my backpack swinging in one hand. I think the Ekans was just a little shocked to see a girl come charging out of the bushes, seeing as he didn’t attack right off the bat. I just came at him swinging my back pack, I don’t know why I was fighting so hard…the little Pikachu look like it was already dead. Yet I kept right on hitting the snake, who seemed none to happy about being interrupted. He didn’t seem to be letting go of the little mouse, so feeling desperate I wrapped my arms around the snake neck after dodging its pointed teeth. I think I was hoping to get a good sleeper hold or something, I was a woman possessed. Although while I had my arms wrapped around the snakes neck, the little pikachu came too. Well lets just say, both the Ekans and I were shocked at how the fight ended.
When I came to all I smelled was smoke, I seriously thought my hair had been singed away. I felt shaky and just a bit frightened. The last thing I had remembered was putting the Ekans in a head lock. That was when I felt a weight on my chest that I hadn’t noticed before. I lifted my head up and saw a little yellow mouse sitting on me, looking at me with its head tilted to the side. It looked curious, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t be vicious in the next minute. I slowly tired to get up, and the little pikachu jumped off and scampered off the side. The Ekans was still lying there, if it was dead or not I don’t know, I never really checked. The electric mouse didn’t do anything; instead it just kept watching me. It was really kind of weird at first, but it didn’t seemed hostile or hurt, so I left it. Then I started to walk. I got back to the path, still finding that my legs were still a little wobbly. After awhile of walking I kept hearing noises in the bushes and behind me, but every time I checked there was nothing there. I had my suspicions, so that night as I hunkered down up against a tree, I left some bread nearby. I pretended to sleep, keeping one eye cracked open and focused on the bread. It didn’t take long for the bushes to rustle, and reveal her little stalker. The little mouse pokemon scampered up and took the bread, nibbling it happily. Then when it finished it retreated back into the bushes, I remember thinking what a funny creature it was. The next morning I continued my walk towards Viridian City, I should be there before sundown. I still heard the bushes rustle every now and again, and I just smiled knowingly. Although things took a turn for the worse when I decided I needed a rest. I rested in the shade of a large tree, until I heard a frightening buzz. I looked up to find a swarm of Beedrill. I remember thinking to myself that I was screwed, even before the pokemon went nuts Beedrills were set off easily. They were very territorial and were known to attack anything that approached a nest. I would have made a run for it, if it were not for the weedles around me spraying me with that sticky string. It wasn’t long before I was securely bound to the tree, I remember thinking how stupid it was for me to leave Pallet town without an escort. Although it was a little late for regrets, the Beedrills were going to kill me no doubt.
And they would have, if it weren’t for my fuzzy yellow stalker. Before the Beedrills could pump me full of their poison a little yellow flash jetted out of the bushes. With a funny little cry the Pikachu jumped into the air and fried a few of the Beedrills, causing the others to retreat. I was astounded; the little mouse had just saved me. Was it just paying me back for trying to help it? I wasn’t sure what to think as the little teeth gnawed at the sticky string that still bound me to the tree trunk. When I was free, I remember we just stared at each other for a long time. The Pikachu was a strange one, I found it odd that it was all alone. Most Pikachu lived in groups, like little communities. However, he seemed to be on his own. That kind of made me think, maybe he was an outcast to…maybe he left because he didn’t feel like he belonged. Perhaps he and I were both more alike then we could ever guess. I was the first one to break the little stare down, going into my pack and pulling out another piece of bread. Surprisingly the little fellow took it right out of my hand; to me it was kind of like our own silent agreement. An agreement to look out for one another, and to be each others company. So for the rest of my journey to Viridian city I had a companion at my side. I don’t want to sound weird, but looking down at him kind of made me feel…whole…like I had found something I had missing. Spike was just another absent piece of the puzzle that is my life I guess. Well when I finally reached Viridian city, I didn’t really know what to do next. I didn’t want to go back home, but I wasn’t really sure how to live on my own. I didn’t have a lot of money….and I did the only thing I could think of. I used whatever change I had to call my Dad. When he answered he sounded exhausted and I knew I had probably caused his sleepless night. Although he surprisingly didn’t scream at me, he just told me he was relieved that I was alright. I told him everything that happened during my two days on the road to the Viridian city. And he seemed unsurprised; he then told me that he knew that I would find a pokemon of my own someday, even in this kooky new world. I was a Furdori afterall! I couldn’t help but laugh at that, Dad always understood me better then anyone. So he knew that I wasn’t anywhere near ready to come back to Pallet. So he told me that they had relatives in Viridian City, ones they rarely spoke to. My mothers parents…
I never really even thought about the concept of having grandparents. My dads parents lived all the way in Saffron city, so they were pretty much strangers to me. And my mother’s parents were not spoken of much. Dad explained that they had never really gotten along. The idea of their daughter marrying a trainer who was gone most of the time didn’t sit well with them I guess. So when she went against their wishes and married him anyways, they cut ties with the family. Well that wasn’t going to be awkward, just showing up at their house and saying..”oh hey, I’m your granddaughter that you have pretty much never met.” However if I didn’t want to go back to Pallet I had little options. So I sucked it up and went to the address my dad gave me and knocked on the door. The minute the door opened the little old woman in the doorway just smiled wider then you can ever imagine. She ushered me in, no questions asked. She told me that she knew who I was, that there was no way I could be anyone but their granddaughter. It seems I look a lot like my mom..heh…who knew? My grandfather seemed just as excited, it seemed they had wanted to contact me for years after mom died. However they had this weird idea that I wouldn’t want to talk to them, just because of how they drastically disapproved of my parents union. Needless to say they were overjoyed that I wanted to stay with them, and get to know them. Things just worked out in my favor I guess, I got out of Pallet town, found a pokemon of my own who doesn’t want to kill me, And to top it all off I met my long lost grandparents. For a year I lived with them, Training Spike with every free moment I got. Funny, we were so alike…both a little eccentric, and both a little scrappy. I couldn’t imagine ever having a different pokemon then Spike. We were always careful with our training though, the last thing I wanted was to draw a ton of attention. I mean people were afraid of pokemon, so she didn’t ant anyone thinking Spike was a danger to others. She may have found him in the wild, but that didn’t mean that he was a threat to anyone. So I kept training pretty low key. Then on my fifteenth birthday I received a package in the mail. I opened it to find what looked like a Pokedex! Along with it was a letter.

_____Sunny and I bravely moved fourth through the small grass. It’s a days walk down Route 1 to reach Viridian city. As sunny and I brushed through the tall grass, we saw some carefree caterpie brushing along the ground simply taking no notice of us. The odd metapod hung from trees and there was a time when butterfree would have lined the sky line. But unfortunately butterfree no longer lingered in Pallet town. Sunny walked at my side obediently, his sky blue eyes shimmering in the afternoon sun as were mine. My red Ball cap would have been put to better use shielding my eyes but it was much cooler to be wearing it backwards and walking around with my eyes half open and unprotected from the so called dangerous UV rays. Sunny’s fluffy fur was blowing in a glorious early summer wind and his tongue was hanging from it’s usual left side position from his mouth. He pretended to lead the way, but never got too far ahead, even when I stopped for several minutes, the pup never looked back. Any other trainer might think I was the pokemon. Sunny was just excited to leave Pallet town I think...and So was I. The ground was set high with tons of hills and many patches of long grass to stride through to reach a proper climbing point. I’ll never forget our first pokemon encounter as a team.
_____A wild rattata appeared from the bushes, glaring it’s teeth at sunny and I. My training kicked in and I jumped back, avoiding the rattatas preemptive strike on the trainer and Sunny came in from the side and swiped him with the full force of his body. The rattata bounced across the ground and seemed to have trouble standing afterwards and thats when I noticed the pokedex in my pocket making all sorts of odd sounds. I flipped open the screen and an odd light flashed over the battlefield. A picture of the rattata appeared on screen. _____“Opponent Rattata is Paralyzed, Health down at 30 %....” The pokedex read. Red looked up at the phazed rattata as it loosed out a far reaching cry. That had me somewhat worried as the bushes surrounding sunny and I all started to rustle. The pokemon weren’t fighting one on one anymore, a completely different game from the stories of old Mr. Furdori. I fumbled around with my pokedex, scanning growlithe and the mass of rattata when I saw something much large pop out of the grass. _____“Raticate...” I said in a hushed voice, Their teeth were strong enough to split steel, what would they make of my bones ? What would they make of sunny ! Thoughts like that raced through my mind as a scowered the pokedox for some kind of answer or way out of the situation. That when something reassuring happened, Sunny raised his head to the sun and proud howl of it’s breed rang through the hilly meadow. It was inspiring, as if my spirit and his raised at the same time. After that, Growlithes attack’s were that much stronger. With his spirit at full strength, Sunny’s roar rang through the ears of the rattata and they scattered back into the bushes. But the Raticate remained on the field unfazed. _____“Sunny! Body Slam!” I cried, Sunny immediately sprang into action, his speed far superior to that of the spherical Raticate. Man did that thing ever roll. As it was Rolling on the ground, sunny ran after it and I after sunny. The battle was ike poetry in motion, the raticate got off the odd tackle but couldn’t seem to get a firm latch onto Sunny. Sunny barked as the battle neared it’s end and lunged at the Raticate, his fangs beared down and I heard a harsh crunching sound. The move crunch, being dark turned out to be overly effective against the raticate. _____“Sunny No!! Oh no...” I cried as I looked at the wounded Raticate, it was bleeding terribly from the crunch attack to it’s back. So I did the only thing any compassionate person could do, I tossed a pokeball at it. It was of coarse caught and had no strength to resist. But that was no way to catch a pokemon, I knew and sunny knew it.
_____For the rest of that long day we jogged towards Viridian city which had the closest pokemon centre we knew of. I’m serious, I must have sweat five pounds of water off that day. If I hadn’t been training along side growlithe’s excersize then I probably wouldn’t have lasted ten minutes. Sunny and I didn’t have any time for other battles, the odd pokemon tried to halt our progress but with the “Roar” Attack that sunny had displayed earlier, not one of the pokemon stayed in sight after hearing it. It was kinda cool, things didn’t seem so distant, so dangerous anymore with Sunny at my side. The stories of ravenous blood thirsty creatures just left my mind. As the sun set on the day, Sunny and I fell into the pokemon centre exhausted. The Nurse Joy that was attending seemed to be napping behind the counter. I interupted that nap when I slammed my hands and a pokeball onto the counter. _____“Nurse !! This raticate is Hurt, It’s caught and I need you to fix him!” _____“Huh...oh...uhh...” She said as she stumbled awake, fumbling with her words. She took the pokeball and released the ailing raticate onto the counter. She looked at the wound and smiled at me. _____“No worries. It’s not very deep and it’s only a flesh wound. An hour or so in the in healing machine and he’ll be fine. Are you willing to leave him wiht me then for a short time?” She asked. I of course nodded with enthusiasm before turning to the couch and passing out next to an already comatose Sunny.
_____What woke me up was the ding of the healing machine finishing and a hard pokeball hitting my capped skull. “Oww..What the big id....” I started saying, but having the pokeball back in my possession I could only find it in myself to smile up at the pretty nurse. I yelled my thank you’s as I ran out the pokemon centre doors and past someone familiar. Though I didn’t exactly take notice seeing that I was nearly halfway back to the entrance to route 1 before she could get a word in. Sunny and I came up to the first patch of tall grass, an eager rattata jumped out at us. But I was on cloud nine and unflinching at the moment. I took the ball containing raticate off my belt and tossed it onto the ground. It flashed open and Raticate popped out looking bright and chipper. It turned and looked at Growlithe and I, sizing us up. It took another look at the pokeball and then back at me. I took the ball in my hand and pressed the release button on the inside. _____“There you go Raticate. It was a good fight....But I’m pretty sure the rattata around here need your help more than I do...” I spoke sincerely from what I believe and the raticate seemed to respond by not trying to bite my face off. It listened intently actually. _____“Though if possible, could you not...like...attack random people ?” The raticate didn’t make any movement or notification of any agreement to my demand, it simply turned to the bushes and left with the Rattata. I looked to Sunny and smiled a wide grin. It’s not often that I feel like a make a difference, but maybe if I’m lucky people might be able to travel safely now. _____“I think we did good buddy. How about you ?” Asked, Sunny replied in Bark. By now the sun had set and the moon was in full light. Sunny and I were still far too excited to sleep though and we decided to take a walk around town . We took a stroll and saw the entrance to viridian forest. A most dangerous place for travellers these days. Even now, as I stand here looking at the dark tree line I can see the sparks of battle going on. Dashes of electricity. _____“You know sunny....this Forest used to be famous for a pokemon Called Pikachu. It’s a tiny little Mouse that can generate electricity. A lot of them were super friendly but...I heard there haven’t been any spotted for a while now....” Sunny and I sat in the cool night grass and looked up at the bright moon. We could only imagine what adventures would come considering our first day was already this enthralling. I turned to look at Sunny, but I didn’t see sunny. _____“Mun ?” The pokemon said with a lazy expression. _____“Holy Hell!” I cried as I jumped from my laying spot. The pokemon sat up, looked up at me with it’s half open eyes, opened it’s mouth and pulled a sandwich from under it’s fur and it without even chewing. I watched dumbfounded as the pokemon smiled and waddled off into the forest waving goodbye. _____“....huh....Sunny ?” I asked looking at the growlithe who seemed just as confused as I. We both smiled and started laughing.
_____That night, Sunny and I bunked in the pokemon centre on the couch. We stayed up late talking of the places we’d have to visit tomorrow. First stop was definately going to be the entrants entrance for the pokemon league. Only those with all 8 badges could enter. I talked about how it would be inspiring for us and all that to walk the path of great trainers before us. Though Sunny had already fallen asleep and not long after I fell asleep to.
_____The next morning came early, the rather crass nurse joy provided us with breakfast and a frown. Sunny refused to eat pokemon food ever since mr. Furdori started feeding him special chow every night. Every night damnit, Now he won’t anything other than that or something that I’m eating. Or else it’s not good enough for him, snobbish little pup. _____“Picky little pup aren’t you Sunny ?” I said as I brushed back Sunny’s fur. He only gave a slight yelp iin agreement. We finished breakfast in record time, thanked the nurse for the room and board and rushed out of the poke centre towards Route 22. We tread that hallowed ground, it was is if generations of great pokemon and trainers were flowing their courage and experience into us. Looking at the stalwart gates that opened only for the worthy, a sense of longing and ambition was lit beneath our wing and we felt we could soar anywhere. _____“Next stop, Viridian Gym! Lez Go!” I cried and the two of us ran off towards the gym.
_____As we ran through the streets we got the odd glare from the most of the adults, But from the elderly there was a look reminiscent of themselves as youths. Memories were all that they had of their pokemon now. Sunny and I came up to the gym, thought ot our dismay it looked a little run down and it was boarded up. _____“Wait...this can’t be right...Sunny. How the ******** are we supposed to get into the gym if we can’t get all the freaking badges !” I cried out. _____“OH...no worries sonny.” Somone had approached from behind me, an old man sporting thin sun glasses, a white lab coat and a very stylish white goatee. _____“The gym leader still keeps tabs on this old place. He’ll be here when your ready” _____“What does that mean ?...Old guy ? Hulloooo ?” The old coot vanished into thin air. Thin ******** air, how do things keep doing that ? Isn’t it like against physics or something ? ....physics...pokemon....yeah. I promise not ot bring physics up again.
_____So after that I decided for Sunny and I that it was in our best interest to finish up in town. We took a trip to the pokemart and stocked up on potions, dusty old pokeballs and some antidotes and paralyze healz. Viridian forest was supposedly a rough and tumble place, but to us, it seemed more the perfect field to begin our training. What place better to train a fire pokemon than in a place littered with plant and bug type pokemon ? Even if my partner didn’t know how to use it’s fire attacks....yeah, so confident.
_____Sunny and I packed up our camping equipment and set out into the forest. This was the beginning of a series of somewhat humiliating and unfortunate events. I took some thirty steps into the thicket of trees and stepped on the business end of a weevile. The bug ran off wimpering and I hopped around on one foot for the next hour. Lucky that the pokemon antidote worked on humans as well, though it didn’t help much for the gaping hole now where my heel once was. Sitting on a log where the light shone through the trees, sunny and I basked in it’s warmth. It was a rarity in this shadowed place. As if the sun did not exist, the temperature was easily 10 degrees colder than outside the forest and the sound of territorial battles went on everywhere. The kawing of pidgeotto over Beedrill, Ekans hunting any lingering rattata or pikachu. A silent beast slipped through the grass behind us, slowly approaching without a hint of presence. I may not still be around if not for Sunny’s nose seeing as he smelled the stench of rotting flesh on the breath of our attacker. I leapt off the log just as an Arbok lunged, snapping the log in twain. I shielded my eyes from the splinters just as it lunged again. Sunny, without a seconds hesitation leapt into the path of the Arbok’s fangs. And without a second thought, I put my arm in between. A blinding flash of burning pain coarsed through my arm and I felt the warm sensation of the Arbok’s paralyzing poison seep into my veins. I don’t quite know what acid felt like, But nothing has ever burned me quite as much as that did. Sunny Barked his mouth off as I dragged him by the fur away from the battle. An Evolved ekans was most liekly more than we could handle with our strength. My thoughts were strained by the effects of the venom as we stumbled through the dark forest.
_____Just as my legs gave way, and the Arbok lunged in for it’s easy meal, I shoved Sunny underneath my chest in hopes that he would at least escape this alive. I could only imagine that this must be deja vu for Sunny. The same things happened while he was still inside his egg. I thought this was it, my adventure was over before it even started. But it didn’t come, the now familiar piercing fangs failed to find his my skin. I Pryed my eyes open and saw that fat little hair pokemon holding back the arbok’s fangs with it’s bare hands. The once sleepy face was determined and his talons gripped at the grass beneath it’s feet. Articles of food fell from the Munchlax’s fur, and then my strength left and Sunny escaped to fight the Arbok. Sunny leapt in and tackled the Arbok from it’s flank, the great snake rolled on the ground, whipping it’s great tail about. Munchlax prepared it’self, it looked as though it’s ski nand fur grew stiff, while Sunny’s howl echoed through the trees. The arbok leapt back from it’s momentary stupor at the two, Munclax taking the full brunt of the hit and barely flinching. The darkness of the forest seemed to come alight with fire as I watched sunny. His entire body began to erupt in flames as he cried out in the forest. The brave puppy charged, enveloped in flames and spinning striking the arbok square in the chest. The great snake was knocked back and through the trunk of a large tree. Munchlax and Growlithe came to check on me, I looked at the two of them and smiling I talked. _____“It was really....epic. My fire pokemon, who had never show a hint of fire to me, blazed in the darkness and saved me. And a pokemon came to my side when it had nothing to gain. Maybe...maybe this world can be fixed. I’m...I’m sure of it.” The sense of relief disappeared as I saw the face like symbol crawl up behind the two pokemon, I tried to cry out but My mouth stopped working. _____“Volt Tackle !” I heard someone cry out and a great yellow flash erupted from the Arbok’s side. A tiny pikachu stood victorious over the great snake. It’s fur had a defining spike like cowlick on it’s crown and it was kicking dirt at the defeated snake. _____“Fine mess your in red.” The bodiless voice spoke, by this point I couldn’t see. But I felt myself being carried off, well more being dragged by the ankle. Munchlax certainly wasn’t one for sympathy.

“Chu!....Pika!!!!!!” came a shrill cry. Never in my life had I ever had to wake up early, Furdori’s had a habit of sleeping late. So father had never bothered to wake me when I lived at home, seeing as he was usually asleep to. However Spike was a different story, it figures that an electric pokemon would be buzzing with energy. The awful thing was, he didn’t like it when he was the only one awake. So he insisted on bugging me every morning to get out of bed. I just moaned in protest and tugged the covers up over my head and rolled over onto my other side. Although I knew ignoring the little monster wouldn’t make him go away. He was as stubborn as I was, and that wasn’t always a good thing. My eyes began to grow heavy again and I smiled, thinking I would just get to fall back asleep. However just before I slipped into sweet slumber, I felt something burrowing, working its way underneath my covers. I cracked one eye “Five more minutes” I whined. Unfortunately Spike was tired of waiting, he wanted to start his day and he wanted to start it NOW! So what did he do, he fricken shocked me. I heard the dreaded ‘chu’ call and knew that I was in for it. I cried out in shock as Spike’s nice little wake up call sent me off my bed and to the ground twitching. God he was such an impatient little rodent. My eyes opened and looked up to see Spike peering down at me from my bed. I had every intention of just yelling at him, but for some reason I stopped. It was sad, but that little face of his made it so difficult for me to scold him. The way the hair between his ears sprang forward in tufts, and the way he looked at me mischievously was all too perfect. The scrappy little mouse was my double, everything that I dreamed of in a pokemon. I just sighed and sat up…”I’m up…I’m up…no need for any more shock therapy” I muttered as I pulled myself to my feet. Spike just bounced on the bed, excited to get the day going. Well he was going to just have to wait; I wasn’t leaving the house in my pajamas.
My plaid skirt and black and red shirt were hanging on my door. Grandma must have brought them up from the laundry room while I was still asleep. I quickly got dressed then moved to my mirror. Pictures were taped around it, making almost like a frame. Most of them were of me and my father, or me and Blade, my dads scyther. I didn’t have pictures with friends, because I hadn’t ever really had any. Well except for one, and well that got all messed up. All those pictures were stuck in a box somewhere in my closet. Funny how different I look in those pictures. I had shoulder length black hair and I was always wearing baggy shirts. My dad wasn’t really skilled when it came to shopping for a girl. So I always ended up with clothes that were too big, or I just wore my dad’s old shirts. Now I looked like a different person, my hair was cropped short in the back but pieces were left longer in the front. Also the ends were dyed a deep blue. And then there was my obsession with my piecing gun. I had a bar in my eyebrow and 5 holes in both my ears. Funny thing is that even Spike had piercings, I guess we really are birds of a feather. Both of his ears had the industrial ear piercing, the long barbells definitely made him stand out from other pokemon. “Piiiiiika!” I heard a cry from behind me. I turned to see Spike giving me an impatient stare. A stare that said stop staring at yourself and lets GO. I just returned his little glare…”We will go when I’m ready to….geez” I said with a shake of my head. “Go get some breakfast from grandma, I bet she made butter rolls” I said in a teasing manner. To Spike, there was nothing better then Grandma Aggies butter rolls. That seemed to get him out of my hair for a few minutes. Before I even finished my sentence he was out the door, hopefully he didn’t tear the kitchen apart looking for those damn rolls. I just shook my head and grabbed my backpack off of the bed post and left my room, not before glancing back longingly at my very very inviting bed.
Walking into the kitchen I was assaulted by all sorts of smells. For some reason Grandma Aggie got up at ungodly hopurs of the morning and just started to cook. I swear she has a problem, all she ever did was bake goodies or cook nice meals. Not that I’m complaining or anything. The table was covered with food, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs, and of course Spikes kryptonite…buttered rolls. I just rolled my eyes as the little mouse who had just stolen the entire basket. “Oh good morning Yuzuki” said my grandmother once she noticed I had finally emerged from my batcave. “ Morning” I said as I walked over and grabbed a handful of bacon. I rarely actually sat down and had breakfast, I tended to just eat on the go. Not to worry though, the food never went to waste; when she wasn’t cooking Grandma was pestering the neighbors into taking some of her good home cooking for themselves. “Where are you off to this morning dear?” I looked to my grandma and just smiled “Same as always Grandma” I said before motioning to Spike that it was time to go. “ Well you be careful, I heard that Arbok is back, causing trouble again it seemed…scared my poor friend Greta almost to death the other day, she came out and found it slithering around in her backyard” My grandmother just gasped “I couldn’t even imagine stumbling across such a thing in my garden!” I just chuckled “Don’t worry grandma, I’ll keep a look out for it…I’ll see you guys tonight” I said as I walked out of the kitchen and towards the front door, Spike hopping along at my side. So the Arbok was back, or maybe it was a different one. Viridian city had quite a bit of trouble when it came to pokemon, seeing as the Viridian forest was just steps away. It seemed awful for some, but it was great for Spike and I. It was a great place to train, and at the same time my and Spike tried to run off any pokemon that may be threatening to people. Like the arbok grandma Aggie had mentioned. We had a troublesome arbok a while back and when training Spike and I encountered it. Despite his size Spike was tough enough to run the snake off after their short fight. And after that there were no more incidents. I sighed as we walked out the door “ well I guess were going to keep a sharp look out for that Arbok while training today, maybe even try a little tracking..what do you say?” I said looked down at the interesting pikachu who was always seen following me. Spike just looked up, gathered his legs underneath him and leapt up onto my shoulder…”Pika!” he chirped in approval. It was better that they ran off the Arbok before someone hired an exterminator. Man how I hate it when people did that! Talk about drastic!
I got a few greeting as Spike and I made our way to the forest. I had been in this town for about a year now, but pretty much everyone knew who I was by now. Things were different here, people greeted me kindly and genuinely seemed to like me. Sure I was a bit, eccentric looking and so was Spike but that didn’t seem to bother anyone. Viridian City sure had been a breath of fresh air for me; I never had to worry about what people were whispering about behind my back. The only downside was, my dad…I did miss him something awful. At least I got to talk to him over the phone everyday. He liked to be kept posted on how Spikes training was going. And I frequently sent him pictures, he probably has some crazy collage in the making by now. The forest was just up ahead, and I quickened my pace. Spike jumped off of my shoulder and we both broke into a run. We were both always eager to get to out spot. The town was great and all, but nothing beat being out in the real world….pokemon at every turn, the thrill of being on your own, the adventure….I laughed as we tore off of the beaten path, jumping over fallen trees and dodging the weevil that got in the way. Spike kept up easily and just kept squeaking happily. There were markings on a few trees that indicated we were going in the right direction. And before long we were there, our little haven away from home. It was a decent sized clearing, fallen logs lining the forest line. Empty cans were hung from the branches of the surrounding trees and dry leaves and twigs were scattered along the edges of the clearing. All of it was just a precaution, this way nothing snuck up on us when we were in the midst’s of our training. You didn’t walk into the Viridian forest completely unprepared unless you wanted to get your a** kicked. “Alright, down to business” I said with a smirk. “Chu!” Spike said with determination and a clenched paw. And with that said we began, today we were working on Spike focusing his electricity. If he had more focus then his lightning attacks would be more powerful, and in the long run more effective. The clearing was alight with his energy as my voice coached him from the side.
The light was fading from the sky and Spike and I were taking a rest. He was happily nibbling on a roll I had snagged before I left the house, and I was just lying on my back and staring up at the sky. The sun was warm on my face, and I almost felt the urge to close my eyes and just take a nap. Nice days like this were just so relaxing! Suddenly there was an uproar with the cans as a flock of pidgies went flying out of the trees, almost looking frenzied. I immediately shot up and Spike stopped eating, and both of them just stopped to listen. It was silent for a moment, but then we both heard what sounded like barking. Spike and I looked at each other; we both knew there were not really any canine pokemon that ran wild in this forest. Plus the barking sounded distressed, so of course we had to go see what was going on. I grabbed my pack and Spike and I both left our sunny clearing behind, trudging forward into the darkness. Luckily the forest didn’t disorientate myself or Spike, for the past year it had been almost like our playground. The barking stopped, and I felt myself get a bit worried. Cause while we were running I hade noticed some markings in the ground…..the trail of a very large snake. “Pika!” Spike shouted and then I saw it too, the red glow. I narrowed my eyes as I pushed myself faster, whatever was going on I didn’t want to miss it. I began to slow, and I was close enough to see a large Arbok get thrown back by…a..growlith. I felt my breath stop short when I noticed the boy laying on the ground, that red hat…that stupid red hat. What…what was he doing out here. I was just staring at him, but he couldn’t see me because of the shadows the trees casted. Suddenly I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. It was the Arbok, without thinking I sent Spike in. “Volt Tackle” I cried..”CHU!” Spike cried as he shot forward in a flash of yellow and sparks. Her tiny pokemon collided into the arboks side, sending it into the ground with a heavy thud. And this time it didn’t move….”Pika!” Spike said, looking victorious. He then turned and kicked dirt on the unconscious arboks face. Spike really didn’t like snake, which was understandable. He had almost met his end once, having been at the mercy of a nasty Ekans. I walked closer and into sight, not really knowing how he would react. “Fine mess your in Red” I said, maybe sounding more arrogant then I ment to. However he didn’t seem to even look at her, he looked pale and he couldn’t speak. Crap I thought seeing his arm was bleeding and swelling a bit. The damn arbok got his fangs into him, how could he have been so careless! She had to get him to the Poke’center. It seemed odd, but I knew they were the closest place with a antidote for Arbok’s poison. I went to get Red but found that the Munchlax that was with im was already dragging him away. It was a little barbaric, but it worked, so I just used a buttered roll to lure the Munchlax in the direction that she wished to go. Sunny just followed whimpering as he looked at Red. Yuzuki didn’t look at the pokemon, and just kept her eyes straight ahead.
We left the Viridian forest without any other incidents, and Munchlax was still dragging Red by hi s ankles. I tried to take Red off his hands, but he really wasn’t willing to let go for some reason. I led him towards the Poke’center and quickly opened the door. And to my surprise the pokemon walked right in. Maybe he was Reds? Not many wild pokemon would do this for a person. Yet the Munchlax didn’t seem to have any fear about entering the building. Nurse Joy was once again asleep. I felt bad for her, she didn’t get a lot of people in here anymore. “Nurse Joy!” I said loudly, interrupting the red headed woman’s nap. She jerked upwards and quickly rubbed the sleep from her eyes..”Oh..yes..umm, excuse me…can I help you” she asked sweetly. Yuzuki just made a motion towards Red “I’m afraid he had a run in with an Arbok, he’s got a bite on his arm and I know this place has plenty of antivenom for just this sort of thing” I said, The nurse just gasped slightly and moved to where Red was. She talked sweetly to the Munchlax, and somehow coaxed him to let go of Reds ankles. Then she and I lifted Red, he looked unconscious, but she wasn’t really sure. We carried him to the back where they set him down on a metal table. Nurse Joy disappeared leaving me alone with Red, although I wasn’t alone for long. Sunny came in as soon as Nurse Joy opened the door to leave, in his mouth was Red’s hat. It must have fallen off while Munchlax was dragging him. I looked down at the pup for a moment. Wasn’t too long ago that he was just an egg….”I have it!” Nurse Joy bellowed and she came back in with a bottle and a needle. “Now, lets get him all fixed up” she said in a giggly voice. I couldn’t help but wonder if all the Joys were like this. While Nurse Joy was tending to Red I slipped out to see Spike poking Munchlax over and over again. The lazy pokemon didn’t even seem to notice. I just shook my head at the little mousse antics and sat down on one of the benches in the front room. Who would have guessed I would run into him out in the Viridian forest, him out of all people! Fate sure was cruel……

_____I thought that alcohol gave you a bad hangover, After the incident I woke in a cold sweat, my arm in searing pain and covered in bandages and my head felt like popping and splattering it’s contents all over the pokemon centre. Yes, I was in the pokemon centre. At my right, sitting patiently on the ground was Sunny and on the left was a sleeping munchlax. Like most injuries in life, I was able to shake off the pain and swing my legs over the side of the table. I picked up my red ballcap, it wa slying beside my head and I jumped fown from the table. My clothes were covered in grass stains and bite marks and my pant leg was torn up a bit, I shot a glance at the munchlax seeing as it was most likely his “medical delivery” that did it. Sunny’s tail began wag furiously as I got up and that familiar smile curled his canine lips, Always at my right side that pokemon was. Always, it’s hard to know a similar comfort. I tucked the cap onto my head and twisted it backwards, tossing my hair to the one side. My vision came into focus and I saw an Old friend in the doorway. _____“Dear god ! Did a freaking beedril get a hold of your face !?” I shouted indiscreetly pointing with my undamaged arm. Before I could lower my arm I was struck in the back of the head by her fist and was back on the floor. She seemed to leave in a huff and the small pikachu looked confused at what had just happened. About a half hour later, I had recovered and was thanking the nurse joy and enjoying a massive meal prepared by some nice old lady with a picnic basket walking around town, it was some kind of awesome. With a waffle still hanging from my lips I decided to take a look around for the trainer that had saved me. I checked from one end of the city to the next and found nothing but the same old lady offering more goodies....I may have stocked up my pack. I’m lucky I did because the rest of it was devoured by the stalking munchlax. The munchlax, I badly wanted to have him join my team, especially after seeing the way he handled that Arbok But I didn’t particularly want to battle and hurt the big lummox. Then, genius struck. From my pack I took out one of the infamous chocolate eclair prepared by my own mother. The filing was replaced with a light chocolate icing and the top was coated with milk chocolate and dazzled with icing sugar. I held the treat in my hand and Munchlax seemed drawn to it, I moved it left, he moved left, I moved it right, he moved right. I tossed the pokeball at the eclair and it disappeared in a flash. The munchlax seemed to get the idea as it sat down while I threw the same ball at it. The bloody hungry thing didn’t even struggle, must have been too busy eating as the pokeball lock clicked. I released Munchlax and believe or not, He was actually slowly enjoying the eclair, bite by bite rather than swallowing it whole. _____“Do you want a knickname Munchlax ?” I asked the engrossed pokemon. It nodded in the slightest...or it might have just been swallowing. Either way, from now on, I would call Munchlax “George” As in gorge, as in he engorges himself...ah what do you know! So now it was George, Sunny and myself. A second partnet pokemon, though this one seemed a bit more interest in other activities rather than battling. Well, with two pokemon and somewhat of a renewal the three of us entered the viridian forest.
_____This time we were a little bit smarter, a little more cautios. I picked up a couple of Repels at the pokemart, the trips was going a little smoother. The odd fiesty pokemon attacked and was quickyl dispatched by either Sunny or George. Sunny’s new attack was vicious, not to mention he could light himself on fire and light our way and I was quickly learning that munchlax wasn’t exactly an ordinary pokemon. But training him was far easier than I would have though, conventional means didn’t work but Bribery worked awesome. _____“Hey George!! Win and I’ll give you a waffle!” And that was that, Munchlax would kick, punch, roll and sit his opponents into submission. He seemed to even have this one attack that struck the mind of the opposing pokemon. I looked at the pokedex and it said that the move was called Zen headbutt, a psychic attack. The poisonous snakes that wandered through the forest weren’t a problem at all anymore and the massive amount of bug pokemon were flamed into unconsciousness. Soon enough, the three of us came into a clearing where the sun shone through. I shielded my eyes as we exited the dreary shadows. I felt my foot tug on something and a light jingle rang through the clearing and that little surprise was followed by something a little more shocking, as in a ******** electric shock coming from god knows where flaring up my hair like a damn skunktank. Still a little weak from the whole venom and almost dying incident, I fell backwards onto the ground and saw a tiny pierced electric mouse wander out of the grass. I wasn’t pleased when it decided to pick up a stick and poke me to see if I was rare or well done. That didn’t last long as Sunny’s loyalty insincts kicked in coming between the Pikachu and myself, his fangs bared and his fur lit with flame. I’m not overly sure what happened next But Sunny howled, pidgey, beedrill and all manny of pokemon with wings seemed to hightail it as far from the clearing as they could.
_____Yuzu followed not long after trying to order the pikachu to stop, But it seemed that a battle was already underway. The grass around the clearing was littered with scorch marks from fire and lightning respectively. If I could have read my pokedex, it would have shown that the pikachu was most likely the higher level, But Growlithe was the kind of pokemon with a fierce determination. All throughout the battle, Growlithe had been making the odd howl, his flames steadily growing stronger. The pikachu hadn’t used it’s strongest attack yet, The volt tackle has amazing power but it’s recoil can also be devastating. But the two seemed to be winding up for one last attack. I had somewhat recovered by now and was only sittign and watching the battle unfold. The two lunged at eacher other with blinding speed as their attacks closed in on each other, George walked into the middle of the warpath, and smashed both their heads together knocking both pokemon unconcsious. My mouth fell open, Yuzu’s mouth fell open and George had his arms raised up in that air with a victory pose. The lazy pokemon strolled over to me and held out it’s hand expecting a reward for it’s victory. Needless to say, we had a long talk about friend, foe and butting in on non double battles.
_____The five of us sat down to lunch in the middle of the clearing, Sunny and Spike (the pikachu apparently) didn’t seem to get along all too well. Bitter rivalry with those two. But Yuzu, beside her pierced face and dark clothes seemed just about as pleasant as I remembered her. We talked for a while about the ordeals we’ve went through I nthe last couple of years, how she left home, found spike and has a grandmother who most likely uses 1 cow and two pigs a day for meals. I told her about sunny and his lack of fire, told her how her dad was and how he helped me with a bit of training with his scyther, prepare for real battles. With Yuzu gone the man stopped cooking and started eating out more, he gained about 20 pounds in the last couple of years. We laughed for a bit talking about her father and his odd tendencies and by the end of it all, the food was gone and it was time I and my team left for Pewter city. _____“I expect to see you get to through that gym with ease, you’d expect no less from me right ?” I said as I left, didn’t wait for an answer considering her crass nature might have her say no and then my confidence would be shot, ha ha. On our way out the forest, We ran into a couple of poachers who were hearding up the bug pokemon to sell en mass. All they had were bug pokemon...needless to say, we got out of the forest not long after. Seems wild pokemon were becoming stronger while trainers were becoming more lax. _____“Poachers and exterminators are the beasts that need to be eliminated. Right Sunny ?” I said to the growlithe at my right side, the fiery ball of fluff nodded and we left the forest to find the towering Pewter city at te base of Mt. Moon.
_____The sun was some kind of bright and the town looked some kin of deserted. The gym still stood, as did the pokemon centre and pokemart. My mother had told me about Pewter city’s reputation, she got it from the newz. The entire town hauled up in caravans and left for less dangerous places. With Viridian Forest to the South and Mt. Moon to the East the Town was in danger of massive pokemon migration at any time. Even now, it looked nothing more than a junction with a gym. Some say that the Gym leader Brock stayed behind to Help any one travel through MT. Moon, other say he had to keep the position just to feed the rest of his family and there are other rumours and speculation. Brock was a powerful Gym leader when he first started, but after he ventured off to see the other regions of the planet, His skills massed and he became a force to be reckoned with. Or so they say. So of course brimming with confidence, I trudged through the dusty streets. It was very eerie in a way and I kept myself on edge. Sunny’s ear were twitching like crazy, focusing on his surroundings. We came to the pokemon centre which was surprisingly well kept and staffed by a friendly upbeat Nurse Joy. _____“Hi! Welcome to the pokemon centre.” She said _____“Can I heal any of your sick or injured pokemon, OR perhaps a warm meal. It is starting to get late, I’d advise that you stay indoors at night.” _____“Why?” I asked. _____“Well..” She paused, the thought troubled her. _____“You see, ever since the ...incident. No one goes out at night. _____“What incident ? The meteor thing ?” _____“Heavens no, the Bat incident. One night, the city was illumintated by the full moon, the Zubat and Goldbat came down from the Mountain and started feeding on...on everyone. I had my hands full with near bloodless pokemon and people alike. I, I don’t even like to remember it. Just promise me you won’t go outside _____“Alright, I have no problem with that.” I promised her I wouldn’t go outside after dark. Considerign her story it seemed the right hting to do, no matter the confidence I had. Munclax managed to unlock the pokemon centre pantry and held up there while Sunny and I checked our mail on the computer. _____“Dear red, This is your Mom! HI!! I miss you sooo much, I was watching the news the other day and heard of a big Golem attack on Cerulean city. They had this amazing footage of the town’s gym leader defeating wave after wave of Rock pokemon. I know you’ll become a star trainer one day and make everyone feelsafe. You and Sunny that is, your really not much without him. Ha, just kidding. Though Sunny is a very important, make sure you feed him properly and Don’t forget to brush him! You forget all the time and his hair gets everywhere. Your father is doing fine. I think were going to have a wonderful berry crop this year, look forward to it. We’ll send you some when they come in. Love You! Mom.” _____I finished the email, there were a few potions stored in my item box with her name on them. The next mail was from Mr. Furdori, his was a bit shorter. Simply telling me to keep up my training, to watch my back and feed Sunny properly. Geez, they think I didn’t feed the guy. I feed him! So I typed up my reply. _____“Dear Mr. Furdori, I’m feeding Sunny very well and I’ve even got another mouth to feed. His name is George and he’s a munchlax. It’s hard enough to ration out his food and leave some for the rest of us. Lol. I ran into your daughter as well, she’s doing well. Training a pikachu that got mangled by a beedrill I think lol. Tell Your scyther that When Sunny and I return we want a rematch and tell Yuzu that she’s gonna have a difficult time trying to get one up on me. Also, my Mom said she’d make and Scyther dinner once in a while so you don’t have to eat out every freaking day. Peace. Red.”
_____That was that, and now is sleep time. It was getting late, the sun had set nearly an hour ago. So I used the facilities, said goodnight to the good nurse and turned in when I heard a high pitched wail come from outside. Flashes of light were coming from outside the window. _____“Oh dear, someone came after dark again...oh dear ...dear...dear.” the nurse seemed to falling into a spiral and wasn’t going to snap out of it any time soon. _____“Sunny!” I yelled, I knew full well who it freaking was outside. The two of use left through the sliding door. _____“Dear...dear..” Nurse Joy continued to mumble as she strolled towards casually and pressed the locked button. _____“Dear...dear....dear. _____Looking outside, Sunny and I both knew that it should have been a full moon, But it was completely dark. No stars, no moon, no coulds. No nothing. Just black and a terrible high pitch screech ringing from all directions. Sunny flamed and light erupted. I looked like we were completely enveloped in Zubat and Golbat. Completely surrounded. For now though they seemed wary of Growlithes flame and the two of us ran through the darkness nad zubat looking from the one cry different than that of the Bats. Flashes of yellow were coming from just up ahead, judging by the distance from the pokemon center that we traveled, we’d be near the exit of Viridian forest. And there they were, trying to press through the bats. _____“Yuzu!!” I called out. She must have heard me since the flashing lights began to move my way. Unfortunately the Bats were getting ballzier. Getting closer and closer towards Sunny and I. Yuzu fell the abyss into the light, ghostly pale and with bite mark’s on every peice of exposed skin. Spike wasn’t looking much better But with the ability to send electricty through his body, it didn’t seem like the bats stayed latched for very long. _____“Fine Mess your in Yuzu!” I yelled with a bit of a cockish attitude, Smiling. I slung the girl over my shoulder with my good arm. _____“Sunny! Roar!!!” I commanded. The Tiny Growlithe opened it’s petit jowels and his cry split the haze of zubats and heralded the moon. _____“.....” Yeah, you know it was sweet. I was speechless. But the bats didn’t disperese for very long and we all took a spring towards the pokemon centre. Only to find that the ******** door was locked by that crazy a** Nurse joy. I banged on the door with all my might, Sunny scratched and for some odd reason Spike was biting my ankle...don’t know how that worked out.
_____Inside the centre, the nurse joy was mumbling to herself in her room, her eyes wide open and bloodshot. Just sitting over the sheets. Downstairs, the pantry had gone bare, and a much rounder munchlax was wandering through the complex looking for something else to sate his appetite. I saw him passing by the glass door...I wasn’t pleased. _____“George!” I cried. _____“Open the door George !” The damn thing just wouldn’t listen, it was...what happened next was predictable, Sunny leapt into my pack and pulled out my hidden cookie stash. My ******** cookies that I don’t share with anyone ....needless to say, George opened the door for the cookies. We all fell inside the room, I rushed to the door button, closing and locking it. Only one zubat got in. _____“Sunny! Crunch Time !” I commanded. Sunny leapt at the bat and sinking it’s teeth into the zubats tiny frame. The bat fell to the floor. I threw a pokeball and Bam, I managed to catch my third pokemon. My pokedex asked me “would you like to give Zubat a knickname” I could think of nothing more fitting than. _____“Wayne!!” I said enthusiastically releasing the zubat. It flitted about, not biting but checking it’s surronding before taking rest on my shoulder. It was kind of cute. My buzz was kinda killed though when Yuzu opened her mouth. _____“Ther...there are like a million of those stupid things, why the ******** would you want something like that ?” She asked exhasperated. Even half dead she managed to be negative. _____“Cheer up, I’ll find oyu some blood and maybe then you won’t be so moody.” I walked away from the pale girl mumbling something about PMS...I won’t go into detail.
