I'm watching the X-Men animated series; it's apparent that Professor Xavier is supposed to be Marting Luther King Jr. and that Magneto is supposed to be Malcolm X. If you haven't seen the series, I'm sure you've seen at least one of the movies. Mutants are discriminated against by non-mutants. Professor Xavier's troops, the X-Men, want to live in harmony with the non-mutants. Magneto's troops, though, want to wipe out all non-mutants. This is an obvious analogy for the civil rights movement.
Throughout history, there have been militant groups. The Black Panthers, for example. There have been "feminist" organizations and individuals that seek to form a separate, women's society and to let men kill each other off. There have even been some "feminists" who have wanted all male infants to be killed at birth or aborted.
I have yet to hear of militant gays, though. I'm not saying that I want there to be LGBT organizations that seek to destroy the hetero population, it just strikes me as odd that this hasn't happened yet. Some lesbians did join those "feminist" militant organizations in the 70's, but that's it. Any ideas as to why?
