Alright. I have plans for my future. I plan to get my own chunk of land and grow my own fruits and vegetables [organically] I also plan to have 1 dairy cow and 2 hens and I'd raise them well and consume milk and eggs. Maybe I'll even raise my own bees and consume honey.
To you vegans, if you had the chance to raise your own cows, hen, and honey, would you remain vegan or would you become vegetarian? After all these animals will be living a great life and wont be tortured right?
And also, some people are only boycotting for better treatment of animals. Lets say if there happen to be better treatment for animals, that they live in better conditions, they are treated better and live a somewhat full life, would you go back to eating meat? Or if you raised your own animals in the farm, would you eat them or remain a vegetarian?
I ask this out of curiosity. I dont think I'll ever go back to meat, but I may consider it in the future, who knows.
But I want to become a vegan currently because I dont want to support the mistreatment of animals, if I raised my own cows and hens I'd continue consuming them, but I dont think I could ever kill my own animals to consume them.

I wouldn't go back to consuming animal products. I do know that even in growing fruits and vegetables, animals will be involved - pollenators, worms tilling the soil as they do, poop and all fertilizing the soil, etc. - but there are veganic ways of developing positive relationships with the animals involved. Planting various flowers will sustain wild pollenators, there are no-till methods that won't harm the worms, deer can be allowed to gleen from harvested areas so that they leave their poop in exchange, and humanure can replace much of the manure that people get from livestock animals.

No, I wouldn't. When chickens produce eggs, their bodies loose nutrients. They eat their eggs to regain them. Cows also need to give birth to produce milk. And their milk is meant for their calves, not for humans. You would then have to take the baby from her mother so you could have cow milk.
I don't need animal products to be healthy; a vegan diet is healthier. There's no way to justify eating animal products. Regardless of how "humanely" or "nice" you treat animals, it's still exploitation. Besides, there are tons of great dairy, egg, meat, and honey alternatives.

Wonderful question. 3nodding I would never go back to eating meat, but I would like to have my own chickens. I wouldn't do the milk thing, but having a few hens running around and eating the bugs out of the garden, and in return I get a few of their eggs seems reasonable...and they make the cutest little clucking sounds. xp
