I don't about you guys, but the original Sonic is a classic game and it holds so many memories for me. Me and my older sister got the Sega Genesis for a X-Mas present and this was one of the games it came with. We had this hole method of Sonic: she would play and I would watch and sometimes I would get too much into watching and something would happen at I didn't notice it, like my dog eating my sandwich.
Now back to the actual game itself. It was a great game. There were spikes, evil robot things, bottomless pits, places where you could get squished, LAVA, an evil mad Doctor with a big mustache, Music that was drilled into my head, LAVA, FIREBALLS, secret spots, and it had some sort of 3-D in it (Does anyone else remember the Fish and Birds in the Special Stages?). It's also the game that showed the world Sonic(Though we all knew that).
So tell me, what were your thoughts on this game? Have any good old memories playing or even watching the game? Do tell if you do.

My first Sonic game. On the Genisis. Had it when I was born. (Back in 1993) Great game. Period.

Unfortunately, I didn't play this on the Genesis when it first came out.
(I got hooked playing Sonic 2.)
But I have Sonic Mega Collection for the Gamecube.
It's basically a collection of a lot of the games, their original manuals, old video, and the like, all in one little disc.
So I have played it before.
And I love it.

I had a Sega Megadrive (also known as Genesis) and I had Sonic the Hedgehog
I had problems getting past act 2 on Green Hill zone (I was not that good)
My sister used to be stuck on Marble zone act2 a lot
Few years later I got really far on it (this was when we traded in Sonic the hedgehog for the collection game that had Sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2 and also Dr Robotnik's evil bean Machine)
I was now stuck on the boss of Labyrinth zone (still have never beaten boss without a little help from a cheat rolleyes )
But I have skipped ahead of the boss to the next zone and done it all (so never able to do that boss but can do all the rest)

I have gotten really bored the one day and decided to try to see how fast I can get through Green Hill Zone Acts 1 2 and 3 and beating Robotnik or Eggman or whatever his name is. Yeah I got through all 3 Acts and beating the mad Dr. man in 2 minutes and 14 seconds.
So if anyone can beat. Tell me.

Green hill zone time (just done):
Act1: 0:34 (49 rings one away from special stage crying )
Act2: 0:42
Act3: 1:26 (I got slowed down a lot)
Total this run 2:42 Not bad cool

I am lucky to have 6 of the older games on my PC (Sonic 1 2 and 3 Sonic and Knuckles Sonic 3D and Sonic Spinball) Is a good 6 in one thing I got for less than a fiver biggrin

i also have good scores in green hill zone:
act 1- 00:30
act 2- 00:35
Boss- 01:01
not bad to be my first game played in my life XD. Also, im still playing sonic and knuckles. I love hyper Sonic and Hyper Knuckles ^^
