Edge has almost always been a quiet town. Not subject to much nonsense, or violence. With this in mind, Tear goes there to get away from his life of war and destruction.

Tear sat at a table in the tavern/inn. He'd just barely ordered a room and a meal, with one of the few copper pieces he had. He chuckled to himself. His purse had more gold and silver than most of these peasants would ever see in their life. After looking around the tavern he changed his mind. Than all of them would ever see. Tear shook his head. This was one of the reason's he'd come to this place. A quiet little town that nobody had ever heard of. Just the type of place he needed to heal.

((I'm bringing some excitement... that's a cool name by the way))

Arieli rushed past Tear's table, knocking into his chair. She ran past, quickly yelling an apology as she continued on. Almost seconds later, another person came running by, obviously following Arieli, also knocking into Tear, this time without an apology. The man pursuing Arieli was dressed lightly, his shirt open, showing a tanned chest. A smile manifested itself on his lips. Arieli, on the other hand, was in deep concentration, trying to run as fast as she possibly could.

Tear stuck out his leg on instinct, and the man tripped and fell. Tear stood up and looked down at the man. He poised, ready to draw his two swords. "You knocked into my chair, and had the poor enough manners, that you didn't apologize for what you did." Then he looked at Arieli. "And it also seems that you have been... disturbing this here." He glared down at the man. "Have you no honor, man?" He shook his head. "No, not man, boy." Although he was young, Tear looked much more mature, and he almost seemed to radiate power in his anger.

((It's "stuck"))

The man looked up at Tear and whimpered. "I was only chasing her for fun," he said. He was around the age of 17 or 18. "I didn't do anything wrong! I swear!" The man gained more courage and stood up, facing Tear, looking him in the eye. "What are you going to do about things that aren't your business?"

Arieli looked at Tear, surprised at his action. She was breathing heavily, holding her bleeding wrist. "Thank you," she panted.

Tear looked at the girl, and then at the boy. "I'm a soldier in the 54th platoon of the imperial army of Valentrue. I've sworn an oath on the altar of Kaleilee to uphold justice wherever I may walk. My blades are servants to truth and honor." Tear held out one of his swords, resting it on the boy's neck. "And if you would have me break that oath, try and get past me, and just you try to harm that young lady." Tear kicked the boy in the stomach and then turned back to his meal, as if nothing had happened. He did nod at Arieli when he sat down though.

The man was intimidated by Tear, though he tried not to show it. He turned to Arieli and smiled. "See you later." He winked and ran off, making sure that he was not being followed.

Arieli didn't know what to make of Tear, but she was very grateful towards him. "May I sit, even just for a moment? I must thank you correctly." She motioned to the chair across from him.

Tear moved out one of the chairs with his leg, and then motioned for her to sit. He took a quick swill of his ale, and then put his mug down. He eyed Arieli momentarily and then shook his head. "What did that young man want? He seemed pretty confident that you wanted his attention, but I get the feeling that you don't exactly see eye-to-eye with that young man." Tear watched her carefully, just waiting for her to run off. Just like all the other people he'd talked to in the past few weeks. Most town people were intimidated by somebody like him. A soldier who really knew how to fight.

"He's someone's son, belonging to some family that wants him to marry me. I don't want to, but he does, etc. You know the story," Arieli sighed, exasperated.
"You don't seem like you fit in here yourself, can I know I bit of your story in exchange for mine?" Arieli asked, highly interested in why a fully trained soldier would appear in this peaceful town.

Tear seemed to gain a look in his eyes, as if he was staring at something in the distance, and not liking what he saw. "I'm a deserter." He said quietly. "I abandoned my platoon, because I couldn't take what we had to do." He shook his head. "I'm not just a normal soldier. The 54th platoon was trained for special shock missions. We were dropped into battle before anybody else. We were the invincible soldiers, that nobody could defeat. But with being the first came other responsibilities. We had to take care of hostage situations. We failed more often than not." Tear looked Arieli in the eyes. "Women, children, old men. We saw them all die. We were unable to save them." Tears came to his eyes. "Any of them..."

Arieli hated tears because she shed them a lot. "That's past though. You don't have to remember it. I'm sorry I brought it up." Arieli hesitantly reached over and gently wiped the tear away with her napkin. "I've been through what you have too, but in a different way."

Tear nodded. "And so I came to this town. Where most people haven't even thought of the word 'war' for over three hundred years." Tear looked at Areili. "My name is Tear. I've given up my side of the agreement. Your turn."

((Homophone mistake! It should be "your" not "you're"))

"Tear..." Arieli sighed. "Ironic," she said, after a bit of thinking. "Well, I don't like to give out much about myself, as you could understand, but since you helped me, I owe you at least this much," she looked directly into his weary eyes and was immediately saddened. She never felt well when in the presence of one who had experienced many things that he didn't deserve.
"I killed my... parents. They were rich, but I didn't care for the money. I just woke up one day and it dawned on me that I had murdered two people already. That started my life as a spellthief. I went around committing crimes of all sorts. I never felt any need to redeem myself, no matter how many people I killed or hurt."

Tear didn't reveal anything in his face, but his arms moved slightly farther apart, allowing it so he could draw his weapons much more quickly. "Then what are you doing in a small town like this?" Tear seemed ready to draw his blades and attack her.

Arieli noticed his action and smiled. "I'm running from obligation," she explained. "A thief must always be free. Having a family isn't the best thing to do for my trade. Trying to find liberation is even harder."

((This might not work out. Tear is honorbound to fight crime and what not, even though he's not a soldier.))
Tear looked at Areili, with something like regret in his eyes. "I..." He started. "Why?"
