Name: Catherine Bret Andrews
Age: 20
Birthdate: Nov. 1
Marital Status: Single

Ethnicity: Caucasian, of mixed descent.
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 132 lbs
Build: Slender
Hair Color: Auburn
Hair Style: Short and wavy
Eye Color: Pale Amber

Personality: A shy person by nature, it has taken Bret a while to break out of her shell. She adores dancing above all else, but also loves performing in general, a contradiction to her usual reserved personality. When getting to know her, she seems quiet and a bit uncomfortable. Around people she knows, however, she is able to relax and crack a joke or two. She has a dry sense of humor and is able to take things in stride. Generally mellow, it seems like everything about her becomes intensified when she’s around the theatre. She is more fun, more energetic, but also more business-like. When it’s time to work, she takes things very seriously.

Besides the theatre and dance, she loves old literature and antiques, cartoons and art. She can’t draw to save her life, but has a great appreciation for the subject. She dislikes public transportation, politics, snow, and her neighbors. She is afraid of heights, insects and deep water. She can’t swim.

History: Bret was born in a tiny rural town of about 300 people. The second youngest of six kids, she grew up sharing everything. Her parents had traditional values and placed import on family and faith. She was content with her situation and happily attended the town’s small school system, knowing the same people for 18 years. She first began wanting to dance in grade school, when her class did a show of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. She played a fairy. Her parents enrolled her in dance and singing courses and drove her to auditions, competitions and plays. Thanks to the continual support of her friends and family, she made it through difficult times like breaking her leg when she was 12. After high school, Bret was faced with the reality of having to leave the town she had known and moving to the city to pursue a career in the theatre. It was the sudden shock of having no one nearby to rely on that made her become more introverted. Over time, however, she managed to find community theatres and local dance troupes. She found she had a knack for choreography, and worked at local schools. A Broadway showing of South Pacific, however, pushed Bret to the next level. She wanted to see how high she could climb. It’s not about the fame, but to be able to perform on some of the greatest stages in the world, that’s Bret’s goal.

Were, Werey, Andi
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Height: 5'5'', last I checked.
Weight: *COUGH*
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Haha, changes a lot. Usually red.
Marital Status: Single
Personality: Insane, mostly. I'm rather laid-back, but I can be a real pain, too. I hate admitting when I'm wrong. I have a great sense of humor, I'm told, and I love to make people laugh. I adore history and am not afraid to share my opinions on it. I have tact, and I wish more people had it as well. I love antiques, classic rock music (TOM PETTY. <3), Sherlock Holmes, photography, drawing, and I'm a geek for Power Rangers. I love talking to people, so don't ever be afraid to approach me. =D

Bret sat on the linoleum floor, her back pressed against the wall. One of her legs bounced at a rapid rate, tapping the floor soundlessly, a nervous habit of hers. She picked at the end of her right jacket sleeve as her amber eyes slowly scanned the crowded room. Her gaze met that of a young dark-haired girl. Bret smiled lightly and quickly looked away, not wanting to be the one to break the room’s uncomfortable silence. She attempted to focus on the music playing through her headphones, a light Mozart aria to calm her nerves.

Her attention was stolen again, however as the door to the audition room opened. An attractive young man strode quickly out the door and after a self-assuring glance at the other ‘talents’ in the room, he took his leave. A woman in a pastel suit appeared in the doorway. Bret quickly tore out one of her earbuds to hear the woman.

“Samantha Weiles,” she called out. A blonde bombshell glanced up from her copy of Cosmo and followed the woman into the audition, her three-inch heels clicking as she walked. Bret winced at the sight of the footwear, and took a deep breath. She ought to stretch for her audition. It was why she had sat on the floor in the first place. She sighed, knowing movement would attract attention, and pushed out her legs to loosen them up.

Across the room, a rock star wannabe, complete with leather jacket and stubble, wolf whistled at her, earning both glares and snickers from the room’s other occupants. Bret pretended to have not heard him and continued her warm-up.

After a few minutes, the woman in the suit returned, and after escorting the leggy blonde out with a plastered smile, called Bret’s name. The woman looked surprised when the tall redhead stood and Bret began questioning the sense of using her middle name if she was going to always be mistaken for a guy. At least it was more memorable than Catherine.

Quickly stowing her walkman in her gym bag, Bret followed the woman into the audition room. She forced herself to breathe as she took a quick glance around the room. It was large, thankfully, and the floor was hardwood, which would be easier to dance on. She placed her bag by a wall and removed her jacket and sweatpants, revealing a black leotard, decorated conservatively with a few beads and sequins. After quickly changing into a pair of black dance heels, she tucked her hair behind her ears and turned to the judges.

Smiling brightly, Bret handed the center judge a folder which contained her resume, headshots and photos of some performances, as she looked to each judge to see if she could gauge any of their impressions of her.

“Hello, my name is Bret Andrews, and I’ve prepared a monologue, as well as a song and dance number for you, which I choreographed as well. I hope you enjoy it.”

She gave up on reading the judges’ faces and handed a CD to a nearby techie. A folding chair was nearby, and she pulled it out to the center of the room, as it played a great part in her dance number.

First however, came the monologue. It was Lady Bracknell’s monologue from The Importance of Being Earnest. A silly piece, but the delivery had to be just right so as not to make it look amateurish. Bret made sure to be clear on her timing as well as her diction, and after the short piece, was pleased with how she did.

Now it was time for the tough part, but also the part she loved the best.

She sat on the folding chair, and after a deep breath, nodded to the techie. The instrumental beginning to “All That Jazz” from Chicago filled the room. Bret began her routine. It was slow at first, and lightly seductive. Right on cue, she began to sing.

Come on babe, why don’t we paint the town?
And all that jazz
I’m gonna rouge my knees and roll my stockings down
And all that jazz

She sang clearly, but focused more on the steps. The judges would hear better voices than hers, and she knew it. Her alto voice was lightly husky and on pitch, but she knew it wasn’t the most memorable. She didn’t have the greatest range, but training had helped her so it was loud and well-controlled. She was lucky in that her voice suited the stage, but she knew she could never make it solely on singing.

So she worked hard to awe the judges with her dancing and portrayal. This piece was one of her favorites that she had worked on. She danced around and on the chair, incorporating it into the piece. The footwork was complex, but appeared simple, allowing an audience to fully enjoy it. It didn’t appear like work for Bret and her face shown with the seductive confidence of Velma Kelly’s character.

Bret slipped once on a turn, but thought quickly, and pushed the slip further into a slide so that it looked planned. She disliked improvising during a performance, but she was forced to sometimes, and if the judges had caught the mistake, she wanted them to know that she could be a innovative and level-headed while performing.

She finished the number with a flourish and beamed across the room, slowing her breath and adrenaline. She bowed lightly to the judges.

“Thank you so much for your time and consideration,” she said earnestly with a smile.

Not wanting to take up any more of their time, Bret quickly collected her things, and after another quick smile at the judges, fled the room, followed by the pastel-clad woman. She paused, just outside the doorway to push a headband onto her head and noticed the next act up was the lewd man from earlier. He grinned cockily at her as he walked toward the doorway. Bret lowered her gaze with an angry blush. The man laughed as he passed her and before she could stop herself, she pushed her foot out to trip him as he walked through the doorway. He fell, surprised, and shouted an expletive.

Stuck somewhere between amusement and mortification at what she’d done, Bret hurried out the doorway as quickly as she could. But not quickly enough to miss the sound of laughter and applause from the waiting room before the door closed. Bret chuckled and shook her head. She had done the best she could for the audition, and now it was time to wait.

Entry Title: Finally starting to post!
Current Mood: A bit tired
Listening to: an opera mix

So, as a congratulations from my parents for being hired by Walk of Fame talent agency, they bought me my very own laptop! In exchange, though, they asked that I blog what's going on in my life so they can check in on me. Slightly creepy, if you ask me. But at least this way, I can keep track of things that happen.

I actually got this computer a few weeks ago, but I've been too busy to really get started typing. Today I found the time, so here I go!

Walk of Fame is amazing! The people, for the most part, are incredibly nice and the agency itself is gorgeous. They have some great studios I can practice in when I need to get out of the apartment. I'm hoping that I can fit some singing lessons in here, so I can continue training. I've been practicing a lot, and I think I'm getting a little better! I'm having an easier time hitting the higher notes.

There's a cafe everyone seems to frequent. I stopped in the other day, and ran into a girl I had met earlier. Riley. She's really nice, but rather flighty. She seemed rather keen to flirt with this guy there, but hey, she seemed happy! I met this guy named Oz. I hear he's a Soap star, though I haven't really checked it out.

I... I went to a red carpet event the other night, which was... interesting. I tripped over some poor guitarist and spent most of the night hiding in the bathroom. Either the food didn't sit with me, or I let my nerves get the better of me. Probably both.

Anywho, I have vowed that I will be better in the future! I need to be sure to get some more connections, meet some new people. It's a bit terrifying, but kinda fun too.

I'm really hoping that I'll get something to do, soon. I've gone to a few auditions for shows, but haven't heard back yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Well, my pasta is just about finished cooking, so I'll sign off for now. See ya!

Love, Bret.

Entry Title: OHMYGODOHMYGOD
Current Mood: See title!!!
Listening to: My intense heartrate

OHMYGOD! I'm so ecstatic, I could jump for joy!! In fact, I did just a few moments ago and would still be doing so, but I'd likely break my computer. Okay... I'm settling down now.

So, BIG news!! Someone from the agency just called. I HAVE A PART!!!!!!! Seems a chorus position opened up for Wicked and I'm in!!! I'm going to have to learn the roll very quickly, but I'm sure that won't be too much trouble. There's no speaking lines, as far as I'm aware, so I can focus on the singing and the dancing!

I'm so psyched!!! Wicked is just incredible! I love the costumes!! I can't wait to see what I'll be wearing. And the choreography, and the scripting and the music!!! Oh wow, just the perfect thing for me to break out in!!!

So folks, you can look forward to seeing me in Wicked soon!!
