Vampire Weekend is decent. They're not great, but they're not terrible. I suppose after fronting The Unicorns, Nick Diamonds has earned the right to spit on inferior bands.

I've never really heard anything by them, so I guess I'll have an opinion after I see them live next month.
It's only 20 bucks a ticket.

to quote a friend of mine, "I hate it when people dislike Vampire Weekend just 'cause their white."
I mean, the two main problems people seem to have with VW is a) their "appropriation" of "other musical cultures," and b) they are extremely successful. Neither of which has much to do with their actual music.
That said, I'm not nuts for VW, but I find them refreshing (I'm usually sick of them before their first album is through, though).
And Nick Diamonds not liking them is weird, considering he went through a phase where he tried to craft -- as he called it -- "the perfect pop song." Vampire Weekend seems to be trying to do something similar, and coming almost as close as Diamonds has.

I saw them at Pitchfork and my friend noted that their music is reminiscent of a tropical cruise in some ways. Ad thats not really my thing. Nick Diamonds finds a lot of conflict, but with this situation Im on the Diamond side if I had to choose.

XSK commercial 'indie' makes me gag it's not like they were created, like a boyband ... they still retain full creative autonomy, they just happen to be extremely successful. like Coldplay, Bob Dylan, or Justin Timberlake.

Well, the show was decent. Super poppy lyrics, and I wasn't really into it.
