Plot:

Kain and his brood have long since claimed the Pillars as their sanctuary and the areas immediately surrounding it have been over taken. With only a scattered and fleeing resistance of humans, all that remains for the Vampires is to watch, oh and, not to mention, to enjoy their newfound positions as the great lords of Nosgoth.

Yet, with so little resistance from his human thralls and with his 'sons' to take care of any that arise, Kain grows bored. Of course, the great King of Nosgoth can always watch his 'sons' little rivalries and every so often play his own cards in their little games (His favorite being the 'Raziel has to do it because he's best' card because Turel always reacts to that one so well!); whilst none of his sons seem to see the hilarity in it, Kain definitely finds it to be most entertaining!

{With a millennium of time between the setting of Blood Omen and the setting of Soul Reaver, I’m sure there are some who have been dying to figure out what exactly happened in that gap…Let’s try and fill it in, shall we?}

And so we start from the top--the meeting of clans, one of many to follow and many that have come before. Kain has to make sure his 'sons' still have their healthy rivalries between them, after all. He wouldn't want them to get too boring...

I. Kain and the Leiutenants

Kain: Self-crowned ruler of Nosgoth, enslaver of the human population therein, Guardian of the Pillar of Balance, all-around sadistic b*****d, and wielder of the Reaver. He seems to have little interest in what his offspring do (save for his favorite, Raziel); only calling them together now and again probably out of boredom. Kain is also present for any executions—him being there as a judge is highly unlikely. Then again…it’s probably amusing for a sadist to watch someone be sent screaming to their watery grave. But as one can imagine, it gets boring at the top. It’s not below Kain to stir up a little chaos now and again, seeing if he can very discreetly prod his Lieutenants into bickering with each other.

Raziel: Oldest and strongest (though strangely the shortest) of Kain’s brood—not to mention ‘daddy’s favorite.’ Not only is Raziel’s standard the same color as Kain’s, but he’s the only one who wears gold plating to his armor. And it’d be nieve to say that he never used this as an advantage over his brothers, though he seems genuinely loyal to his sire. Not only is he Kain’s favorite, he’s well liked by the majority of his offspring. Raziel’s confidence and ability to handle most circumstances calmly make him easier to work with than most of his brothers. His preferred weapon is the sword, his standard is red.

Turel: Next under Raziel and the biggest suck-up Nosgoth has ever seen. Overly serious and horribly brutal, Turel, like most of his brothers, carries out Kain’s orders without hesitation. He is also one of the more jealous of Raziel, considering there is only one obstacle from him being at the top of the totem pole so to speak. Because of this, Turel has a bit of a temper and is one of the more volatile of the brothers (when not in Kain’s presence, of course). His preferred weapon is a spear/pole arm, his standard is green.

Dumah: Third of Kain’s brood and is in no way shape or form the sharpest tool in the shed. Though one of the most physically strong of his brothers, Dumah is, to put it bluntly, the least intelligent, the most arrogant, and the most gullible. Though all the others find ways to tease him, the only ones who can get away without being pummeled are Truel, Raziel, and, logically, Kain. His weapon of choice is the spear and his standard is indigo…I think.

Rahab: Unhappy with his place near the bottom, Rahab prefers to keep to himself, though he usually works in tandem with his younger brother. This certain sibling does very little socialization, and he prefers to hole himself away in his clan’s sanctuary doing something or other to pass the time, maybe reading, who knows. Unlike his next oldest brother, Rahab can be described as said sharpest tool in the shed. His intelligence puts him in Kain’s good graces—something Rahab will gloat about if given the chance. His weapon is a sword, and his standard is blue.

Zephon: Fifth down the line and definitely one of the more interesting. Built taller and lighter than his siblings, Zephon relies more on speed and agility rather than brute force. He’s also, well, a womanizer. Not only has he had multiple affairs with any of the female vampires around (lower in rank usually), but if there’s raping and pillaging to be done…he’s probably going to take care of the former choice. His weapon of choice is the sword, and his standard seems to be gray.

Melchiah: Youngest, weakest, and probably the most sullen of the siblings, Melchiah tries his hardest to have very little to do with the majority of his older brothers. Because of his being the weakest, and because he had been dead for quite some time before being resurrected as a vampire, Melchiah’s flesh is slowly rotting away. To counter this, he’ll often pick an appealing victim and, after feeding, skin them and use the skin to cover his own putrescence. Most of his ‘scars’ actually come from the fact he’s had to sew himself back together quite often. Melchiah’s weapon of choice is the spear/pole arm, his standard is yellow.

II. Younger Generations

After a certain age it’s possible to start raising ‘offspring.’ But here’s where it gets interesting. The process is a little more difficult, involving the creator having to bring the soul back from the underworld. As you can imagine, that’s not an easy task, and the longer a person is dead, the harder it’s going to be for that fledgling to survive (just look at Melchiah—he’s slowly rotting away…again.). Depending on whose ‘bloodline’ (that’s such a bad pun…) one belongs to one will ‘inherit’ certain traits.

III. Things That Make Being Undead Cool

Pretty much, vampires are super-predators. Stronger, faster, able to heal most wounds instantly, even the fledgelings prove a problem for an inexperienced hunter. Heaven help the poor sap who charges a group of them!

Vampires from this setting are a wee bit different from the Hollywood sort. After they hit 300 years old, they begin ‘evolving.’ What this entails is a resistance to sunlight, and then, for lack of better words, ‘losing digits.’ Eventually, they’ll get down to two toes and three fingers, and those looking more like talons than anything. Also, as they get older, they get more 'indestructable' in a sense. It's possible to tell a vampire's age by the amount of armor they wear. The less plating there is, the more confidence they have in their regenerative abilities.

User Image User Image
See the number of fingers and toes? That's what I mean by 'losing digits.' And they're wearing gloves for some odd reason--I never quite figured that out.

IV. Some Rather Uncool Things About Being Undead

Water +Vampire=Bad. While harmless to everything else, water is like acid to a vampire. In fact, that is how traitors and ect. are punished by Kain and his Leiutenants: they’re thrown into the Abyss’ maelstrom. Which, obviously, is water. Lovely burning death involved with that.

Sunlight is also deadly to a fledgling, though this weakness is eventually surpassed later on in the evolutionary process. As of the timeline of this rp, only Kain can take full sunlight, while his Lieutenants can take it in various degrees.

V. A Note About Kain’s Sword

Compliments of PL, an actual quote about it from the second game in the series:
The Soul Reaver, Kain's ancient blade, older then any of us and a thousand times more deadly. The Legends claimed that the blade was possessed and thrived by devouring the souls of its victims. For all our bravado, we knew what it meant when Kain drew the Soul Reaver in Anger.
It meant you were dead

Setting:

The Legacy of Kain series is set in the country (I believe) of Nosgoth. Looking at the map provided in Blood Omen 2, it seems to be roughly the size of continental Europe and Asia put together and seems to be largely mountainous in terrain with a climate ranging from arctic to temperate. It’s capital, Meridian, is far to the southeast compared to the location this rp centers around.

There isn’t much in the way of technology on Nosgoth, just very rudimentary machines that seem to be either coal or steam-powered (probably coal). Obviously Kain and his offspring have a hand in what is done with this machinery as they’d rather it not be used against them.

The best way to describe the ‘time period’ of this role-play (not to mention the games) is quasi-medieval, so the aforementioned ‘technology’ is extremely simple and probably barely used.

As for age ranges for the Lieutenants, this rp is set when they've been around for about three hundred years--which means that they've either just started evolving or are about to. As for Kain, he'd be looking more like the Lieutenants did at the beginning of Soul Reaver (See Links section!) as this is set many hundreds of years before the game!

Kain’s Empire:

His center of power is where the ruined Pillars are, and actually seems to be using the pillar symbolic of his area of guardianship (well, somewhat. He refused to take his place as Balance Guardian and the pillars degraded) as a throne of sorts. His Lieutenants and their clans built a sanctuary for themselves with the pillars at the center, each building his own personal little nook in which to amuse themselves in when nothing needed their attention.

A Short Note on the Pillars of Nosgoth:

These really aren’t necessary to explain for this rp. The only important tidbits are that there are nine pillars, Kain was supposed to be the Balance Guardian, but he refused (leaving the former Balance Guardian to haunt the pillars as an exceedingly bitter ghost) and so the pillars sort of started collapsing. Kain being Kain, he decided to make the Pillars his seat of power and they lie at the center of the sanctuary of the clans. Also! No one really knows by whom and for what purpose they were built (at least not at this point in the timeline). I’ll see if I can find something to put as a link if anyone who hasn’t played the game is confused.

Sheets, Playable Characters, Ect:

Playable Characters:

Kain: Pilotslover

Raziel: Animus Inanis (Waaagh, PL made me do it crying )

Turel: Zahth

Dumah: Pilotslover (placeholder)

Rahab: Zahth

Zephon: Kalinin (placeholder?)

Melchiah: Kalinin

‘Minions’:

{Multiple characters in this section are encouraged.}

Razelim:

{Blue Elec}
Name: Seraph
Age: 270-ish
Clan: Razelim
Rank/Duty: Annoying daughter-like person who tinkers with things when bored
Weapon of Choice: Dual scimitars
Personality/Bio: Seraph was changed a long time ago, when she was quite a young girl. As such she has never really grown up and still acts like a little kid (though maybe some more thoughtful people might consider that she only acts that way by choice). She constantly badgers Raziel for things, hardly ever listens to his orders and occasionally displays a vicious streak a mile wide.

Turelim:

Dumahim:

Rahabim:

Name: Maera (may-ra) {Pilotslover}
Age: 75
Clan: Rahabim
Rank/Duty: Scout
Weapon of Choice: Duel Daggers
Personality/Bio: Whilst only young, Maera has fast become one of Rahab’s most trusted scouts due to her inquisitive nature and fast mind. Maera is rather well endowed and wears a spy robe, this means her … assets are often fairly clear but Maera seems to be above shame now she’s a Vampire. She has the same dark hair as most of her kin and golden eyes but it must be said most men don’t see the distinctively pretty face.
Much like her master, Maera has a calm, quiet nature but it’s certainly believable that this young woman is fully capable of defending herself.

Zephonim:

Name: Lou {Pilotslover}
Age: 125
Clan: Zephonim
Rank/Duty: Second in Command
Weapon of Choice: Broadsword
Personality/Bio: Something about Lou seems to be perpetually pissed off, maybe it’s because her master always seems to leave her to do all the real work for him. Maybe it’s because she’s jealous. Maybe it’s because she watches her lecherous master move from bed to bed as she answers his summons and keeps his clan in working order. Who knows? Like most of her clan, Lou is fairly tall but this Zephonim is quite exceptional too as she is fairly strong, possibly because she used to be a soldier in life. As with all Zephon’s little conquests, Lou is easy on the eye but it’s probably been a long time indeed since she has granted him the pleasure of her company in bed.

Name: Amelia {Kalinin}
Age: 71
Clan: Zephonim
Rank/Duty: lords favourite
Weapon of Choice: her looks and her nails (which are as deadly as any dagger)
Personality/Bio: a vampire that could only be described as jail bait, and in fact might just be. Being a pretty young thing with platinum blond hair , as well as plenty of other ‘assists’ to go with her look, she is by far zephones favourite this century. Having an appetite that in fact nearly matches her lords , no one is safe, be it the other female vampires, other clan members or even human prey .no fetish or act is beneath her and she describes herself as without shame. She is most often found hunting her lords hall after her next conquest or annoying lou, which is her second most favourite act.
she has full knowledge that her position as favourite is temporary but plans to enjoy as much time as she has being it, as well as making sure she will be a left in a position of relative luxury

Melchahim:
{Kalinin}
Name: Terrel(female vampire)
Age: 27 before becoming a vampire , which she has lived for a 102 years. Making her 129
Clan: Melchahim
Rank/Duty: chief administrator of the melchahim , making her the second most important vampire in the clan
Weapon of Choice: assassins daggers
Personality/Bio: administrator of all the melchahim clan, answers only to Melchiah (and of course the rest of the Lieutenants and kain). Has only got to such a high position as, she is to date ,the best constructed of all the melchiah’s minions and has only minimal signs of decompositions and no decolourisation of her skin. This is because she was killed and immediately resurrected by her master. She has a decent intellect owning to the fact she was a scholar before her turning. Hates her current life but can’t face the other possibility of ending her existence. Therefore her hate is directed at melchiah for bring her back to life in the first place.

Name: Shadow of the Sea
Age: 201
Clan: melchahim
Rank/Duty: spy fist order
Weapon of Choice: short bow
Personality/Bio: Shadow was but a peasant's son, and tilled the land for the majority of his life before his turning. Afterwards, howeve,r his real talent was discovered. First showing an aptitude for ambushes he was quickly spotted by melchiah and was entered into the shadow spy program against the lieutenants. Rising through the ranks he has now become the clan leading spy. His original designation is known only by himself and melchiah.

Character Sheets: {For those of you who are kind enough to play minions}

Name:
Age:
Clan:
Rank/Duty: {ie: Scout, Colonel, ect. Yes you can make your character high in the ranks, just ask before doing so}
Weapon of Choice:
Personality/Bio:

A Note on Original Characters: After playing every game but Blood Omen, it’s rather evident that a vampire’s going to have black hair and yellow/gold eyes no matter the hair/eye color they had when they were human (Zephon used to be a red head!) no exceptions…save for Kain. But we’re not sure why his hair turned white.

A Note on Characters Not Related to the Above Type: Characters of other species are allowed, though really in this case there're either vampires or humans. Because I'm more than open to any plot ideas people have, this is also encouraged. I was intending on throwing a few hunters in there eventually, to be perfectly frank.

It was the night before Christmas
And zephon was present
an orgy had started
it was bound to be pleasant

Amelia was there with long flowing hair
dressed up, but with no underwear
lou had been preparing all night and all day
but been forced to wear her lingerie

oh kain sat down staring in a corner
wondering why he didn’t have daughters
mel had already left for his bed
after too many jokes about him being dead

Turel was having anything but fun
because of the tree up his bum
he had been chosen by kain to be the Star
this was differently the worst xmas by far

Raziel looked on feeling quite smug
he was the only one kain had given a hug
As he stood on under the mistletoe
Amelia dicided she would give him a go

((Ooc: Well here goes nothing, nothing being the optimum word!!))

Sitting with the Reaver's point impaled on the ground at his feet, the great Vampire considered his plan of attack as best he could; his forces were poised and skillful as ever, headed by a powerful leader, his enemy was more refined and controlled but a challenge none the less.

Yes, he could set both side squabbling and then claim any spoils that he wished, oh and throw in his usual levels of distrust for good measure.

Yes, Lord Kain was ready to set two warring foes off against one another.

The fact that the two warring foes were two of his sons had nothing to do with anything as the great, powerful, self-proclaimed King of Nosgoth tried to battle his boredom. Really, with the Human's putting up only a childish resistance that even Malchiah's clan could easily handle what was a king to do?

((OOC: * does their first act of rp leader-dom and sets the scene more* x_X))

Unsuprisingly, Raziel was first to arrive.

Of course he was first. When one is the favorite, one has to ensure their place. That...and not being very far from the area in the first place played a rather large part.

Still--he was hesitant. Of all the time they were active at night, their summons had come in the middle of the day. Yes, they could manage the light at some points without being burnt to cinders, but this was still insane!

But...Kain had commanded it. And it was doubtful few, if any, would openly contest to this.

Hiding his discomfort (and trying to clear his momentarily-blinded eyes), Raziel stepped up onto the dias and hoped that this wouldn't take long. True it was nearly sunset, but it was still at a level he was uncomfortable with.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 05, 2008 2:39 pm

Receiving the summons, melchiah made his way towards kain’s thrown room. Wrapped head to toe in thick black cotton and his eyes protected by a coloured visor, he still had to use a great amount of effort to trudge to his masters lair.

He removed the protective garments before he climbed up to the dais, to avoid his brethren from remarking on his lesser powers. Again.

Glancing around him realised that he had made it here before the majority of his brothers. Seeing that Raziel had already arrived, he inclined his head in greeting but avoided any interaction, taking up a position furthest away from him as was possible.

He replied with a slight nod of his own--sparing him the normal 'you've burst a seam again' joke--though nearly smiled to himself.

It was amusing being at the top.

((OOC: Not amusing be an a** though >.<))

((ooc: But you're So GOOD at being an arse. XD))

Kain smirked slightly, of course Raziel would be first, Raziel was always first and he had travelled in the light.

That Malchiah was second came as something of a surprise to him, but Kain didn't acknowledge either one for a long time.

Yes he was intentionally leaving them to stand in the sun, why? Because it seemed like it would be amusing to test their tolerance to the point of sunburn. His smirk grew at the thought.

((OOC: I don't consider Yomi a prime example of a**-dom))

He fought the urge to fidgit in any way--or even to look back toward the entrance. It wouldn't do to have Kain notice discomfort so early on. That, and it wasn't horribly far from sunset...one just had to be patient.

Well, be patient under the constant dull burn from the sun overhead. Raziel had to wonder how Melchiah was holding up, but didn't hazard a glance over.

"..............." not only was he slowly being roasted, his younger brothers--save for the youngest oddly--were taking a horribly long time. Raziel frowned slightly, hoping this wasn't some sort of setup.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 06, 2008 9:48 am

melchiah was burning. Excruciating pain ran all over his body. His left knee buckled, causing him to momentarily lose balance before he could compensate with his right. He just hoped that kain or Raziel hadn’t seen his momentary lapse
melchiah, also suffered from another problem that his brothers didn't have to experience . The direct absorption of sunlight had began to increase the rate of decomposition, and the skin was slowly being stretched by his organs bloating. melchiah just wished his brothers would hurry before one of the skin grafts broke.
He lowered his head so the sunlight could not touch his face, trying to act as though he was deep in thought. He suddenly thought that this whole thing might have been a ruse so that kain or razial or more likely both, could gain some entertainment out of his discomfort. It wouldn't have been the first time his barsted brothers had singled him out to be the distraction.

And Kain knew how uncomfortable they were.

If the others did not appear soon he would be mopping Malchiah off the floor and possibly having to drag Raziel home as though he were a drunkard.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:50 pm

{Well here goes playing the aloof and obedient sons.}

"I told you he would faultier." Came a light voice from the northern corner of the Dias. Rahab stepped forth and pulled the cowl of his clans cloak from the top of his head, revealing his slightly blueish skin.

"I suppose I owe you some of the finer of my stock then." Another, sharper and deeper, voice offered with a slight chuckle.
Turel, the second son of Kain came about the side of the crumbling pillar of time. Pulling off his own cowl displaying the narrow features of his face, which only helped to enhance the rather harsh point of his ears.

The pair walked fast to take their respectful places behind Raziel and before Melchiah. Rahab offered a quick not of greetings to his two bothers before turning immediately to Kain and took a knee in apology. Turel did not even acknowledge the others rather he turned to straight to Kain and went to one knee, making sure to kneel lower then Rahab; both remained low, heads bowed in apology to their vampiric king.

"My apologies for our tardiness father-king, the humans have tried to take back Rahab's abbey." Turel announced, his eyes glancing up toward Kain.

"It was a laughable effort, but still slightly consuming of our time." Rahab offered as his own apology.

Melchiah burned with resentment towards Turel and Rahab, more so then the sun had been burning him. Both had seen in faultier and had waited until he had done so before making them known in the court.

“Maybe you are both losing your edge , if petty human’s impede you from coming to your masters summon in a mediocre amount of time” melchiah criticised “ I’m sure any self respecting follower of the master kain’s would have put down any rebellion in a more adequate amount of time and not have kept him waiting”.
