Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I was wondering if any of you have read any really good DN fanfics. I just got through Mind games, and the whole task of looking for another in all that crap is daunting me. So I have come to you all for advice. May I please have some?

Go to fanfiction.net
and go to the Death Note section and look up the fanfic Finding Solence.
If you are more into the mature stuff, make a search for Welcome to Wammy. They are kids in that one, but it is so amazingly done. It's a dark story and it's just so amazing. I'm warning you though, that one involves religious things. And then look for the sequal Morning Star, that one takes place during the Kira case, and it is way darker than the first one. I would link you, but I'm too tired to get them.
Ooh wait, I dont even know what pairing you are looking for. In those 3 stories they are Mello x Matt, but there really in no romance. Find Solance hasnt gotten to romance yet, Welcome to Wammy has it's cute Mello x Matt moments, and Morning Star doesnt have any romance yet either.

Oooh... there're so many on fanfiction.net! Um... Lily and Shadow is really good, though they're kinda' dark. XxMailxXJeevasxXMihaelxXKeehlx is pretty good too, though they only have one MxM fanfic, 'Anyway, Brave Hero'(MxM AU) by Her Sweetness is pretty good too... though it hasn't been updated for a while. 'Only You'(LxLight) by MiaoShou is good too, though it's a bit more graphic. And I think 'Now that I Know'(LxLight) is pretty good too.
There's a whole lot. :]
I recommend just going to fanfiction.net, going to Anime/Manga and looking up Death Note.
Also try Deviantart.com and type in 'Death note' in the search.
Hope that helped, though I really don't know what kind of fanfics you're searching for.

Well, there's an author, whose penname is Hari-Aisu. There's two stories of hers that I'm reading right now, and they're both really amazing! The first is called Discordant Harmony. Here's the summary: What happens when new artist, Yagami Raito, manages to capture the attention of socially inept, anonymous artist L Lawliet? Hilarity, of course. Matchmakers, troublesome sisters, and gay lawyers pretending to be drag queens? What is this world coming to?
The second story I'm reading is called Life Imitating Art. The summary for this one: It's one thing to get to the top, it's another entirely in trying to stay there. If singer Yagami Raito can manage to stay alive through the fanatics, crazy homicidal maniacs and creepy detective stalkerness, he'll consider himself lucky. LxLight
And a third one I'm reading belongs to another author. That author's penname is Bloodshot Eyes. And actually, you can find them on my friends list. Anyhoos, this other story I'm reading is called Unexpected. Summary: Sayu attempts to put her life back together and, in the process, finds that she'll have help, if only she'll take it from someone she once refused. Years pass, but will the secrets of the past stay buried forever? Post-series, canon.
All these stories are soooo amazing! Oh, and be sure to check out the authoress SekushiAi. She's got one story that's completely finished called Broken. Summary: Light was perfect. Everything about him was flawless. But one night and one man ruined it all...now he's broken.
She's now got the sequel to it up. The sequel is called Stolen. The summary: They’d been getting along fine – until now. Because this case hits a little too close to home, L can’t control the weather and Light’s too busy flirting with danger to notice that everything is going wrong – horribly wrong. Sequel to Broken.
Her other story that I'm completely in love with is called Awkward Encounters. Summary: So, sure, L loved the annoying, melodramatic ex-mass-murderer. That didn't make him any less irritating! Light x L, shounen-ai. Sequel to Falling for You, don't need to read it to understand the story line though.
As for others, there are some good authors I know of. One is xXDark.Lord.MelodiousXx. Another is Nameless Ookami. Also, if you're looking for fun, OOC fluff, my recommendations may be less than helpful. But I'm sure there's some fun, slightly OOC stuff in my favourites. It's just that I can't tolerate it long enough for anything other than a oneshot.

A virus has rampaged Europe and two top detectives find themselves stuck amongst the aftermath. Suspicions are raised and concluded, emotions are tested. Whoever said death was supposed to be easy?

Also, for a bit of self promotion, elomelo and I are going to be doing a story together soon. The title hasn't been decided, but here's a basic summary:
B's mental illness is discovered early and when he his placed in an asylum he thinks he may just kill himself from boredom. That is, until, Light Yagami a young man who has a split personality and as so far as the doctors can guess schizophrenia (why else would he claim to see and talk to Shinigami?) joins the many inhabitants of the asylum. As B comes to know Light, Kira, and the Shinigami Ryuk he finds that he's not to terribly bored anymore. Still crazy, but not bored in the least. And when L's yearly visit comes around he is in for a surprise.
The story idea is Crimson Decade's, but elomelo and I are writing it. Xhadow Kiss will also be writing a version of it.'
And shameless promotion of an author promoted in the post above, SekushiAi is writing my plot bunny! --squeals in delight-- Light works at a club as a stripper/dancer. Lawliet, in a need of a job, finds a job at the same club.
And more shameless promotion of an awesome website that you can go to when you have no ideas for fics! The Plot Bunny Exchange Plot Forum and the The Plot Bunny Exchange! You can adopt bunnies and write them out and submit your own bunnies and have someone else write it!

Quick question:
I remember there being just an AMAZING piece of work out there centering mainly around Mello. It was, I believe, 21 chapters (I'm probably off my some numbers) and played with the idea of Mello's mother being a prostitute of some kind, then it just going through his life up until his death.
The main pairing was Mello/Matt but there was some Mello/Near in there as well.
If this stands out to anyone, I remember that song lyrics were quoted in each chapter. The one that sticks out to me is the song LEATHER by Tori Amos.
