who is better? 3nodding
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 5:08 pm

That depends on your definition of "better". I personally favor Zack. Yes, I know many will say Cloud. But in my opinion Cloud would not have the strength or demeanor that he does at the beginning of FF VII if it were not for Zack insisting that Cloud have his legacy at the end of FF VII CC. That combined with the fact that Zack defended and ultimately died protecting Cloud says much about him. I'm not saying that Cloud is any less honorable but merely suggesting that Cloud would not be here if not for Zack. So yes, I vote for Zack Fair sweatdrop

Yes, "better" is rather ambiguous... but I'd go for Zack. I haven't played Crisis Core, so I'm only going by what I know outside of that, but he's the real heroic one in VII. Cloud can be selfish, he's got all these mental problems going on, is all conflicted, and generally can be very weak-minded (can be, I know he gets better). On the other hand, Zack could take Shin-Ra's experiments without going all comatose, gave his life to save his friend, and even after he's dead, he gets the girl.

Having said that, though, I do really love Cloud, and I disparage judging who's "better." It makes me wonder how VII would have gone if Zack lived instead of Cloud, though.

I third Zack-- he's more of a person than Cloud, who spends half of the game pretending to be Zack, and then never really regaining any sort of personality of his own.

I've played Crisis Core, and in the face of a bunch of crap, Zack kept his spirits up. Cloud, on the other hand, is actually more depressive than Vincent.

So I definently vote Zack. mrgreen

Aww, he's doesn't pretend to be Zack. It's brilliant, because he actually thinks he did all that stuff, thanks to Jenova. As for gaining his own personality? Well, it could be argued that that is his personality, but I can see where you're coming from, though I don't agree.

Yes, I don't know about you but when I was playing FF VII for the first time I was completely baffled when I found out that Cloud had taken on Zack's memories of being in Soldier because it was always his dream.
I believe that Crisis Core gives that a different approach because, although you do see Zack's death in FF VII, he nevers "urges" Cloud to take on his legacy. I was already sad from the beginning while playing Crisis Core because anyone who's played FF VII knows the Zack dies; so there was ultimately only one way for CC to end.

I found out everything all out of order and sporadically from the game and my brother and the Internet, so it took me years to figure out what had actually happened. Therefore, I feel a little left out that I didn't get a real shock moment. Just utter confusion. crying

I know, but even though you know you'll be sad at the end, it would completely ruin everything if he somehow didn't end up dying.

I'm sorry for that sweatdrop I remember at the end of the game when you see the starfield; I was so stupid that I left it there for like 30 minutes thinking something would happen xd

And yes I would have been. I was very, very happy with the way they portrayed the end.

Sorry? You didn't do anything!

I do that kind of thing sometimes. 3nodding I think I did it there, too. I've also accidentally skipped movies because I don't think there's anything else, and there is. I always stay to the end of the credits, though, just in case.
