The Land of Crinitia

This is a land of mountains, forests and fjords, of marsh and deep lakes. Its story is told by the old redwoods that grow tall and wide, and in the foot of the mountains which crawl to the sea. Rocky fjords line the eastern sea of ghosts where the myst tells the stories of old fishermen.

There is little room for farming as most of the country is engulfed by other mystic features. Wood is an important part of the economy in Crinitia as it trades with Vvraeden for grown goods.

Toward the center of Crinitia lies a mix of farmland and desert. Though because of its dry climate, it’s rare that crops turn out and many farmers seem to give up. Not even the water spirits choose to help in that area, for it’s said a fiery sun god was buried there.

South is the Sea of the Draugr where the myst is so thick at times you can barely see a foot in front of you. This haze is rumored to be the souls of old fishermen and people who had drown at sea. On some occasions, Crinitians have told of mysterious shapes calling people into the sea to drown with them. These are the shapeshifting Draugr.

The deep forests of Crinitia are footed by marshland and bog. This is where the product “Geneva” is grown for consumption (a very important fruit for Crinitians as this is of their own water). Faries and other mystical creatures are said to live here because of it’s secretive and lively appeal. There are also old tree forts built in the woods where the ancient Crinitian tree peoples once lived (I wouldn’t bother with them though, they’re out of their tree.)

The Empire of Crinitia

Crinitia is an Empire ruled by Empress Reydith Lai and her high council members. All major affairs are handled by the Empress herself before they are handed to the high council for further discussion. The empress has totalitarian power over the country and any decisions made by the council are subject to decline upon her will. If the empress is unable to carry out her duty due to sickness, death or other affairs, the high council of Crinitia becomes the head figure.

Crinitia, being known for its weapon making, is also of high stand for its military force backed by magic. High mages are people who have been selected by the council and the empress to take charge of magic forces used in battle and for every day use. The head Mage is also the Empresses personal advisor as well as high council member.

Crinitia wishes for peace but is known to take action upon other countries when it feels something isn’t right. For this reason Crinitia has one of the more fiery armies with soldiers who fight with pride and laugh at the face of death! Well, Crinitians like to think that way anyways. In any case, just like its army, its Royal guards and Knights glow with the passion of dragon eyes.

However, it is sad to say that even a country of such power and beauty can fall into corrupt hands. Even now it is whispered amongst families and friends that the high council members are no longer loyal to Empress Reydith and have woven a plot so evil the palace wreaks.

The Life of Crinitia

Crinitia’s main industry is fishing and forestry and so most people who arrive to find work are posted as lumberjacks or fishermen. Although coal mines are found within the mountains, many fear the wrath of the stone dragon and so only a small portion of what was found is actually being mined. Many people choose to live in cities or villages close to the mines or forested areas for work.

Although it’s beautiful land should be enough to draw people into it, one of Crinitia’s biggest attributes is that of it’s artistic world. Painters, writers, actors and dancers flood the streets of Russland and their plays travel all over Larenia. Many times in history, Crinitia offered a theatrical performance as a way to declare peace with another country.

Everyday life in Crinitia means the interaction with the Jerenise. The Jerenise are winged cats used for transportation, although they often become life-long companions. They stand about five to seven feet from foot to head, ten to fifteen feet head to tail and have a wing span of nine to sixteen feet. These animals are able to communicate with their owners, but most are unable to control their element.

The elemental spirits of Air also help with transportation. Standing on large stones called "Pods" allows you to be transported very quickly from one pod to another. How does it work? Quite simply the Air spirits produce a blue glowing sphere around you which allows you to move extremely quickly on the wind current. Kind of like your very own air train!

There are many holidays that take place in Crinitia every year. The solstices are especially important and generally large bonfires are lit during these celebrations. Each year the people celebrate the Empress’ birthday as well the emperor before her. Crinitia is a proud country with a hard working background and a wonderful mix of culture!

The People of Crinitia

Crinitians are very peculiar beings and have a tendency to be related to ‘demons’. Usually they have deep or bright red eyes that shimmer like a fiery dream but sometimes, like humans, their eyes do not hold a pigment making them very light or blue. Their canine teeth are sharper than usual, but are not vampiric fangs! Hair colours vary from black to pure white to strange colours like green or even purple. An adult Crinitian stands anywhere from five feet to seven feet and some Crinitians have wings that can be up to six feet in total. Most have purely white skin, but in southern areas their skin tones vary from light to a creamy tan.

Crinitian’s who have the gift of flight are considered gems in this country because they believe that winged Crinitians are dragon descendants. Although it’s not exactly rare to find a Crinitian with wings, it’s still something special! Often these winged beings are blessed while they pass don the streets or asked to pray to the Dragons for others making these people a mark on the Crinitian religion. Winged beings from Vvraeden are also essential to Crinitian beliefs and are reason for many views toward the people of Vvraeden.

One of the greatest mark on Crinitia is the idea of water. Water in its pure form for a being like this, is more like a kind of drug or alcohol where, if drinking it, the person may become extremely intoxicated. Therefore Crinitians cannot consume pure water as a constant hydrant for the body. Instead, a large red fruit called Geneva is farmed and produced for a source of hydration. Rarely does a Crinitian posses the element of water and those who do... are probably close to autistic. Yes, water in these conditions will cause mental health issues, so pregnant women are warned not to go swimming in watery areas!
