"It is time!" Ace jumped up, back to his normal happy-go-lucky. It had been a record for him, and even the school principal and the counselor they'd been speaking with had been waiting on this outburst. He grinned cheerily at them, "Come on, Joy, we have work to do!" He tugged his sister up, then let her go and rounding to give both principal and counselor a hand shake, giving them both a very sincere "Thank you." then turning again to snatch his sister up by the arm and practically prance his way out of the school with her, "Are you sure you don't want to get your hair dyed?" He asked, putting a hand through his newly dyed hair--he'd gone with really crazy yesterday, because it was the last stretch of summer and he was allowed to right before school. All summer he'd grown his hair out so it was now to the middle of his neck, and dyed half of it black with blue unevenly edging the bottom. His flames. The promise was that he'd cut it all off and look decent at least the first quarter of school. That was always the way, and he'd always honored it. But that meant he looked really awesome at least a little white before school. HAH! "Hair can be cut, you know, it's really cool." He'd already dragged her into the car though and was headed off to other place. He'd not even done this one yet: Body piercing. HIS sister! HAH!

Joy had been nervouse since the topic had even been agreed to by her. She was having small second thoughts about it...but Ace seemed so very happy! Well, perhaps it was because she had helped him restore his school records so their father could not force Ace to endure another year of schooling just because he did not like his grades. She would have to talk with him later. Perhaps even get him to promise that he would study with her so that he could prove to daddy that he was just as smart as she knew he was. "Oh gosh no Ace! mom would throw such a ft and you know she'd completely blame you for it. Let's not do anything that you can get blamed for until after daddy calms down over what we just did." Not that he had any right to get angry. All they had done was set things back right. Just because he had the ability to do that did not mean he had the right to. "I just want a belly button ring...but where are we going to go to get it? I have to be 18 or have a parent with me to get a piercing don't I?"

"You are 18, and I have your ID to prove it," Ace answered cheerily, then going quiet on Joy's exclamations until he had come to a stop. He pulled his wallet from his pocket and tossed it at her, "Put it in your purse. Happy eighteenth birthday! Dad's not the only one that can pull tricks with his computer." The comment was gleeful as Ace always was, but a very different sort of gleeful from his normal. "A pink belly button ring for you it is! Here we are. This place doesn't mind youngsters hanging about, but they're real careful about it. I guess." He didn't know, really, he'd only heard about it from friends who had ragged him about getting piercings in the past. His sister was getting a piercing! That was... well, he wasn't going to admit what she was and he wasn't in that regard. "Come on, Cheerio! Out, out!" He'd jumped out of the car and had rushed around to pull his sister out, anticipating having to drag her in by infectious excitement and sheer big brotherly influence.

"But..I'm not..." Joy's small mouth dropped open in a wide mouthed gape. It was compounded further as her eyes bugged wide at the fake ID that Ace so joyfully flipped into her lap. Joy was afraid to even touch it! That was...oh that was something -bad-! But...how else was she going to get a piercing? It wasn't as if she knew any adult that would lie for her...and she would much rather lie herself then have someone else do it for her. Joy plucked the ID from her lap, and sat staring at it as Ace leapt from his seat and dashed about the car to drag her out of it. Yes, Ace did in fact have the opportunity to pull her from the car. Joy was hesitating slightly even as her brother set them off towards the front of the body mod building. Oh! Now she was feeling so very nervouse!! That was until she saw a rather familar black clothed individual sitting out in front passing a cig between two other girls. Ace's car was something that was a little hard to miss, and the contrasting bright pink in the dull surroundings caught Raven's attention rather quickly. She flicked the cig to one of the girls and stood up on the step. Her black lined eyes blinking at the sibling. "Joy? What are you doing here?"

When the other person had come about, Ace sobered up fairly quickly. He didn't bristle, but his position was clear. This girl he'd brought over was *his* in one manner or another, and there wasn't going to be anyone bothering her without the liklihood of his jumping all over that person. But he was a little surprised---"You know her?" He blurted. That probably meant that they'd have to lie about their real intent of being here, because anyone that knew Joy already would know it wasn't no sort of eighteenth birthday for her. That would mean...he...Ugh...

Raven stopped a few steps from Ace and Joy, her hands sliding into the back pockets of her black jeans as she looked him over. Her eyes swept from his face, to his feet, then up to his hair. "Yeah. Joy and I hang. Your that brother of her's right? What are you two doing here?" Raven's last question was aimed more at Joy then Ace really.

Joy shuffled, her hand still clasped in Ace's hand. Unlike her brother, she wasn't exactly good at avoiding the truth when neccessary. "I...ah..I'm here to...get a piercing..." Joy slowly mumbled. Raven's eyes blinked for a moment, then crinkled as she broke out into a grin. "Damn. That is pretty cool. I must be finally rubbing off on you. It was the shirt wasn't it? I'm going to have to rip your cloths more often." Raven rather cheerfully spoke as she took a step to slide around Ace so she could grab Joy's other hand. "What about you Two-tone?" Raven asked Ace as she gave Joy a slight tug. "I think a eyebrow ring would be killer with your hair."

Ace accepted Raven's answer at first, then swiftly turned his head to give Joy a look very near to like their father's that clearly asked what on earth she had been doing behind his back. He looked up at Raven with a slight frown, but it was for the last comment more than anything, "Man, it'd get ripped out by telekinesis the moment it got in before anyone knew about it but us!"

Ace's look startled her a little. She had never seen him give her sucha a look before! She stumbled mentally over just how to respond to such a look... but Raven was byusy pulling her towards the shop.

"Ah. Control freak parents much?" Raven asked Ace before nodding her head at Joy. "So how come your getting one? I didn't know you were into pain Joy. Thats a little kinky you know?"

"GAH! No no no no! Thats not it at all!" Joy very quickly protested. Her eyes darted back and forth between Raven and Ace like a ping pong ball. Raven's response was a slight laugh.

"Wow Joy! Chill chick! You keep this up your gunna have a stroke before you graduate college. Honestly" Raven turned to wink at Ace "How is it your little sis is so high strung?"

Ace rolled his eyes to answer but...Joy was entirely taking center stage. He pulled in front of the girls, stopping in their path to prevent Raven from tugging any further. He shot the other girl a glare before turning back to his sister to speak lowly to her, "Joy, if you don't calm down, you'll never get one, they won't do it. What happens if you're freaking out when they try? That would NOT be a good thing! So take a deep breath, think---Uh---Do that meditation thing you and Sushi do, and let's go for it!"

Yes, Joy was freaking a little bit. Perhaps the gravity of what she was about to do was hitting her finally. She had -never- ever done anything behind her folks back before! Joy's blue eyes flickered to her brother for a moement, and she took a deep breath to calm herself.

As Joy took the time to calm down, Raven watched as she began breathing more deeply. She had not missed the glare from Ace. Her eyes locked on him for a moment, but Raven reserved judgement for later. After all, it had been a while since she had been given a chance to see Joy and she didn't want to miss it cause she got in a fight with 'big bro'
Joy continued the deep breathing until her heart rate had slowed enough that she no longer felt like she was going to bolt like a scared bunny. "Okay...okay...I'm fine now. Really..."

Ace frowned, "Hey, Joy, you really want to do this?" The waiting, having run into this...this friend of Joy's...Joy freaking out.... Well, he wanted to make sure now, "If you don't wanna, you know...I mean, you should because you want to...but if you don't want to... You know what I mean? But if you're going to, you're going to have to be sure you aren't going to freak out, because you'll then it's lost."

Joy...just looked at her brother. If anyone was supposed to be having second thoughts it was supposed to be her. So why did he seem like he was the one uncertain about what she was doing? "I'll be fine Ace... I do want to do this. I just...I wasn't expecting the fake ID and then Rav---"

"You got a fake ID? That is killer Joy!" Raven cut in. The look on her face, much to Joy's surprise, was one of mild admiration. Joy's cheeks burned slightly as she nodded her head at Ace.

"Ace is the one that got it, not me." Raven turned her smile on Ace for just a moment, before she dropped Joy's hand and flicked a gesture towards the building. "So...you gunna go and do this thing? I know one of the chicks that work here. She's pretty good, it'll only take her a second to get this thing done."

Ace shot Joy and Raven both a very, VERY annoyed look. One was NOT supposed to mention that there was a fake ID involved AT THE DOOR OF THE SHOP!!! Geeeezz... Didn't they know anything? Didn't they? But he managed to calm down as Raven did, and even managed a nod of appreciation at her final words, "Awesome, let's go for it then. I bet they don't have bright, sparkly pink, do they?" He sort of hoped they did, actually, for Joy's sake. Joy would like that, and it'd fit her. Still, he let the question come as a joke.

Raven was the one who walked to the door to open it. Joy continued to cling to Ace's hand, squeezing it lightly, until it was they entered the shop. If she was '18' then she shouldn't be holding her brothers hand like a '16' year old right?

"I think they got something like that here. They got a whole lot of different styles. It depends on how much cash you got. The cheaper ones are just little metal studs. It would probably be best to get something like that. It will be easier to sleep with and get used to if it is something small and smooth."

Joy nodded her head slightly as she entered the shop. her eyes were drawn to the pictures of tattoo's decorating the walls and to the various piercing stud displays that lined the shelves. This was...going to be interesting to say the least.

"Alright, so simple start it is. Let's go for it," He kept saying that, but the quicker the better. They could stare at all the pretties later. Ack, check them out! "Let's not do the piercing, you should get a tattoo of a pimple on your cheek!"

"What!? Ace I'd have to live with that the rest of my life!"

Raven was already laughing from the comment. Her hand lifted as she pointed to a pair of squinty red eyes tattoo.
"Naw, how about you get that one Joy? You can put it between your shoulder blades so that when people look at your back they'll get glares. Heh."

Joy merely shook her head and muttered. "If I choose to get a tattoo it will be of a cherry blossom and it will be someplace no one will ever see."

Raven arched a brow at Joy, then snickered and walked to the back to snag the friend she had mentioned.

"Joy, this is Terese. T, this here is Joy. She wants you to poke a hole in her body for her."

"Think of it as a memento and bow to the nasty teenage years--Awh, hey look, it's a Flashcharge emblem! Cool! Hey, maybe I should make an emblem too." He grinned at Joy, "What sort of emblem would I have? Or you! Dude---Ah--" He turned around and realized he was babbling to himself. Then he bounded over to Terese, "Can I watch, or is it a strict surgical process that you must do in a back room decorated like a terrible dungeon or something?" Ace shot a look at Joy and grinned, "We shall chain you down!"

Terese led Joy to a battered stool and had her sit down on it. The 'chick' that Raven had mentioned was a young adult that had so many tattoo's onher skin she looked something like a street graffite advertisement. She grinned openly at Ace, and motioned to the wall.

"Go ahead and watch, I don't have a problem with it so long as it's okay with your girl here."

Joy choked and waved a hand in a rapid flutter at Ace. "I'm not his girl! He's my brother."

Raven seemed to have gotten stuck staring at the Flashcharge emblem that Ace had mentioned. Her features were rather thoughtful as she zoned out for a few moments.

Joy squirmed in her seat, and shot a look at Ace. "I really hope that chain comment was a joke....

"Dude, do you see an chains big enough to tie you down? All I've seen are the ones good for helping those who need a telephone line from their nose to their ear for some reason." Ace smirked and leaned back to watch, paying no attention at all to Raven at this point.

Picking the belly button ring was the longest part of the process. Terese brought out so many different ones for Joy to select from. Joy felt a little wired as she looked at them all, and finally selected a small gold one that had a tiny pink zirconia in the end. She laid back and closed her eyes as her belly button was swabbed out. It was when she gasped in pain with the actual piercing that Raven seemed to snap back to the present and wandered back over to join the two of them. The piercing was done, and Joy had to admitt that her head felt a little light. She barely paid attention to Terese as she gave her instructions on how to care for the piercing. Joy nodded her head, and stared down at her belly for a moment before looking up at Ace and laughing weakly.

"Lookit Ace...I have a button in my belly button."

Raven's black lips quirked slightly at Joy's quip.

"She's going faint," Ace muttered, "Better than freaking." He grinned at Terese then bounded to his sister, "Awesome. Let's go celebrate with icecream. Or the salad bar place, whatever... I promise not to jump on you for one whole week." Instead of being excited and giddy, Ace had gotten a little sober over this. He felt...oddly...well... But if they got out of here, he could ignore having ever been here and done this.

The pain did make Joy's head feel a little light, and she was grateful when Ace promised not to bodily tackle her for a while. She reached up a hand to grasp at Ace before she stood, but Raven was rather quick in slipping around to her side. Raven did not stop Joy from reaching for her brother, but she was quick to grab Joy up under her other arm to help her to her feet.

"Don't one of you have to pay? I'll help you to the car Joy."

"Hey, she's MY sister," Ace protested, letting them go as far as the counter, but then stopping there, still with his arm around Joy's arm. He pulled out his wallet to pay half in cash and half with a check, "What do you wanna do now, Joy?"

He had mentioned ice cream, and Joy had been mulling over whether she wanted that or a salad. Both of which she liked a lot. Though she wasn't too certain if she should eat something right away. her stomach was...hurting a bit right now.

"I don't think I could handle something solid right now Ace. How about a drink? A slushie or something?"

Joy did not feel comfortable talking about going elsewhere with Raven hanging onto her the way she was, but the other girl seemed to have thoughts of her own at the moment.

"Listen Joy, I want you to gimme a call tonight so we can hang out later kay? You probably won't wanna hang around the house with your new body jewelry, cause of the 'rents and all. Kay?"

Joy paused, then slowly nodded her head. Raven turned to give Ace a glance. "You mind dropping me off home on your way out?"

Ace shook his head, "Sure, I can get drive you home." He waited until they were outside to continue, "Dad's hardly ever around anyway, I don't think you gotta worry about Joy getting caught. Thanks for the thought though." He would be surprised with himself if he could step back and hear his own tone of voice -- the same official, polite one he'd been using earlier that day with the principal of his school. He rounded over to open the front door for Joy, "Sorry, but you gotta wear your seatbelt anyway," He winked, and likewise opened the back door for Raven, then wandered over to the driver's side of the car, "Where to, Raven?"

Raven's smile was fainter then it had been previously as she listened to Ace's poliet tone. "Hey, Joys my girl. I'd hate for her to get grounded or something." Raven slid herself into the backseat and settled in to admiring the car. Joy herself gave a small groan at the tought of buckling up, and much more carefully sat down in the seat. "Oh..wow...ow. Ace...never get this done. It feels like someone is stabbing you in the tummy or something." She grudgeingly buckled herself in, while taking care to put the belt across her lower hips. In the back Raven piped up."I live about six blocks from Joy' n my school. Over on Foster Ave, I live on the dead end street."

"Alright, Raven!" Ace was quiet as he drove, but instead of heading straight to the house, he turned into a icecream and soda place, "Icecream flat maybe, Joy? Or slushie, whatever you want! You too, Raven. I have enough for all of us."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 5:32 pm

Raven's smile was reflected in her words. She scooted forwards a little bit to better speak to the siblings in the front. "Thanks. Thats cool of you Ace. I'll settle for a Blackberry slush."

Joy tilted her head a little to look over the seat at Raven. "A what? Ew, that sounds nasty."

"It is" Raven admitted before grinning and flashing her teeth at Joy. "But I like how it stains my tongue and teeth purple."

Joy had to smile just a little bit before turning to Ace. "A float sounds real good Ace, thanks. Though I want mint icecream with gingerale."

"And you say my drink sounds nasty?" Raven quipped from the backseat with a small laugh. "What about you Ace? What kinda drink are you?"

"Me? I stick to the traditional." He nodded as they jumped out of the car, but when he ordered for everyone, "plain jane" turned out to be curly fries loaded with cheese and jalepenoes, and a banana split with a small glass of water, "Gotta go after all the food groups." He said cheerfully at their expressions.

"So, opposites attract, eh? Or is your room secretly stashed with hello kitty?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 10:34 pm

Joy gratefully accepted her drink from Ace, along with a amused smile as she saw the motherload of 'bad for you' food he had selected. Raven as well accepted her drink, with a nod if thanks to Ace.

"Nah. What drew me to Joy was how utterly pathetic she looked poking at that fake food they served at the cafeteria." Raven rather cheerfully responded to Ace while popping her straw between her black lips. Taking a sip, she choked upon hearing the Hello Kitty comment. Joy as well gave out a laugh, though it quickly turned to a stifled groan.

"Gah! No jokes! No jokes. Laughing baaaaad." She muttered.

Raven cracked a wide grin however, and bit her tongue so as not to make any 'funny' kind of comment. "Nah. Your sis ain't that bad. Joy's like... a pink goth when you think about it."

Ace rolled his eyes, "I could go for calling her a Victorian goth. She likes that literature stuff and I SAW you eying all the cool medieval stuff, Joy." He grinned, "But not punk goth, and not stereotypical emo-leaning goth. She of the del-ee-keet sort." He winked, "You're all punk-goth or one of those vampire-wannabes? Or a lycanthrope! And me? I'm just a poser. Which are you?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 10:52 pm

Joy sipped her drink, and listened to the exchange between Ace and Raven. Raven seemed to be growing...animated...as she leaned against the back of Joy's seat so she could better chat with Ace.

"Victorian Goth? Nah. You know what I think?" Raven reached around the seat to give the ribbon in Joy's hair a slight tug. "I think Joy is a closet Goth-fairytale! I could seriously see you dressed up as a dark Tinkerbell or maybe a twisted Alice. Dude! Next halloween we seriously gotta do that Joy! We'll dress up as dark fairytale versions!"

Joy's cheeks took on a faint blushing color as she stifled the giggle that wanted to tickle it's way out of her throat.

Raven twisted her lips into another fierce grin as Ace asked what sort of lable she was and defined himself.

"With a car like this and that hair I can completely swallow the 'poser' title. Me personally? Blech. Vamp is way overdone. Plus I don't go into the whole blood drinking thing. That's just a poor attempt at shock tactics. And Lycanthropes are just as weird. I'm definatly not all 'punk-goth'. I prefer to think of myself as a 'Ether-Goth'."

Raven nodded her head slightly before placing the straw between her lips and taking a quick pull.

"Ether goth?" Ace repeated. She'd gotten him there. He hadn't a clue of what she meant, though had he, he'd probably burst into laughter.

He looked between them, "Man, I wanna be the mad hatter! Can I? Or TIME, and you can be the mad hatter and the march hair and I'll be angry with you and stick you in tea-time forever! HAH!"

PostPosted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 11:36 pm

Joy herself choked on a stifled laugh when she heard the term Raven used. Shiftin her head to give a glance back at Raven, she had to simply smile. It seemed like Ace and Raven were getting along pretty good. That was encouraging to her.

"Raven is seriously into fairys and dragons and stuff." Joy offered while Raven sucked down her drink.

"Yeah. I don't go in for all that mopey Emo s**t. The world is bad enough, I don't need to try and make it more depressing then it is. I prefer to find things about it I like. Unfortunatly most of what I like is fantasy based. My mom is constantly telling me to grow up. So I keep telling her to buzz off. I'm grown up enough to know I am not wasteing my life being miserable."

Joy's head tilted some, as Ace went off about being the Mad hatter.

"Hee hee, I definatly do not want to be stuck in tea-time forever! If we are gunna dress up fairy tale like I say we do the Wizard of Oz. Raven can be the evil witch, I can be Glinda, and Ace...you can be Dorthy! Only we'll call you Donny and say your her cousin or something."

"Nah-uh, not cool! If you guys get to be witches, I hafeta be the superior warlock of both the north and south! I live in Oz where the north and south meet and am far too cool to get involved in your little squabbles. Actually, I won't even be from Oz OR Earth, I'll be from a different, extra-magical realm altogether, and I own you all!"

As he spoke, he lifted up one of his cheese fries and waved his hand way too quickly -- Ah, splattering cheese at what happened to be in his path. Oblivious of that for a second, he popped it into his mouth. Mmm, nothing like cheesefries and icecreamy flavor together!

Both Joy and Raven shared a moment of laughter, though Joy's was cut fairly short from the pain from her newest accessory. Instead she grinned and attempted to keep as still as possible.

"Hey hey! Watch out Ace!" Joy exclaimed as a bit of cheese whizzed dangerousely close to landing in her hair.

"Ha ha ha! You sound like you wanna be Doctor Strange or something. Oh! How about we dress up as comic heros?" Raven chirruped rather cheerfully. She leaned a arm over the headrest of the front seat and lightly clapped it over top of Joy's head. "I nominate Joy to be Super Girl!"

"Nah, the REAL ones are best. And Joy would rather go as Mrs. Sir Aquifer. I always go as a superhero. I've got tons of stuff we could use," Ace nodded, "Mostly Flashcharge stuff though, but I got some for lots of 'em. And Joy and Mom are really good at modifying things. Hey-hey, what about you? You think the fake Supermen are best, or the real live hero? Nothing beats out F.C.!" Ace bounced a little in his chair, but they were spared too much babbling by his putting a gigantic amount of icecream in his mouth -- and immediately wincing at the cold. Ahoifsegj---Yes, Joy, Ace is a secret genius. Check it out.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:12 pm

Joy smiled slightly, and attempted to quell the unease she felt as Ace began to speak of real super heros. She knew that it sould not bother her. The topic of conversation was really nothing out of the ordinary for kinds like them to have. She supposed it all had to do with their secret...which was only half a secret really since she had told Raven about herself, but not about Ace.

Raven played with the straw of her drink as Ace gushed on about real heros and joked about Joy's interest in Aquifer.

"Real ones definatly." Raven replied to Ace's question with a very firm nod of her head. "Having all that power is wicked awsome. They beat out comic heros hands down. I mean come on! They are actually doing stuff that geeks the world over have dreamed about since they were wee little nerds. I'll admitt I got my fair share of X-Men comics stashed in the back of my closet."

Joy had to admitt that hearing raven speaking so casually about the topic helped her relax some. That and seeing the sudden expression on her brothers face as he took too big a bite of ice cream. "Snix!" She snickered into her float.

"I'll have you know," Joy forced herself to smother her giggle by attempting to look affronted. "I would not want to be Mrs. Aquifer at all. I would rather be a completely original Superhero, in protest of the prejudice that people have against evolveds the world over."

Raven tilted her head to look at Joy and arched a brow at the blond girl. "So what? You'd be the superhero 'Miss Brownie Points?"

Joy once more fought to keep her laughter from shaking her belly too much.

"No! It's just...todays oppressed evolved could be tomorrows next supervillian. For every time a evolved is persecuted, that is just one step away from being tomorrows Hero they become."

"And...you think Halloween is a great opportunity to make a political stand eh? I dunno, what do you think Ace? I think this will hurt our chances of scoring a good haul. I'm all for the superhero idea though. You'd make a kick a** FC. I could definatly see you pulling it off."

Ace grinned, "I alllwaaays go as him though, and I don't think Flashcharge would be too amused with my impressions of him." He snickered, knowing full well in reality how amused Thomas had been with him in the past. "Man, I have a few collector's comic books, but they're boring." He made a face, "The real stuff is the best!! Oh, Joy, for the record, you sound just like Sir Blah-boring." He made a face and then sat up straight, mimicing Sir Aquifer's mannerisms and accent, "We must remember that we are all humans, and prejudice toward any human being is unacceptable. Like with Frankenstein's creation, we force otherwise good individuals into habits that our harmful to ourselves and others. Ggeeezz... Yeah, if we do this, we so aren't inviting her along!" He clapped his hands, "Or maybe we should! Then when people slam doors in our face or start throwing all those retarded-butt remarks about freaks and stuff, she can lecture them!"
PostPosted: Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:26 pm

Joy closed her eyes as she accepted the teaseing from both her brother and Raven. It didn't upset her in the least. Rather it made her feel pretty good to have her brother and friend getting along so well. They seemed to have a few things in common at least.

"Ha ha Ace. I can't sound like a Sir, I am sure my voice is just too girly. Besides, he is right!" Joy quipped.

Raven had begun to shake her head in argument of Ace's general opinion of comic books. "No way man. Comic books are the best. Think about it. How many kids loved Superman or Wolverine before the whole evolved thing happened? It proves that there are a lot of normal folks who would be open to the idea of a evolved living next door, if the damn governement would stop Bruce Bannering them. I mean come on! Evolveds totally should have their own government system or something."

Joy wanted to ask Raven to stop before she headed off on a conspiracy theroy that could get Ace all fired up, but thankfully she did not have to as she switched gears.

"Ha ha! You know that is so damn true! Joy could distract them with a debate while we nab all the good candy bars.!"
