At the base of the mountains, four thousand square feet of lake stretch below a cascading water fall. Legend talks of a creature that lives inside, that may visit a kind soul....

Sinamin walked down to the lake and sat down staring at the beautiful waterfall. "I really should get working on the bakery.." She sighed and kicked of her sandals to dip her feet in the water.

A gentle, yet curious, nibble could be felt quickly on her toes. Then, just as quickly, the nibbling was gone. After a few more seconds, a small peridot plopped out of the water and landed gently next to her.

Sinamin looked around the water and pulled her feet out, slightly suspicious, she looked down at the green jewel. She decided to pick it up to inspect it further, wondering where it could have come from so suddenly. Sinamin pocketed the gem and looked down into the lake again trying to find the creature that came by.

Besides the occasional group of bubbles, the lake was still. The waterfall continued to cascade down into the water.

Deciding that there was nothing else happening, Sinamin got up and started to walk to the business district, glancing back once more at the lake.

Timothy wandered around the lake, looking for a place to fish. His brother Marcus waddled along, carrying the bait bucket and his little fishing rod. Inspecting the waters, Timothy said to his younger brother, "Let's go, there aren't any fish darting about anywhere." "We need to get at least something for Mummy and Daddy..." Marcus replied. Marcus felt uncomfortable when their parents were working, and they weren't doing anything to help. "Don't worry, we can fish somewhere else! We could go to the beach again. Besides, the ocean has more fish than the lake!" Timothy answered back, almost as if he was reading Marcus' mind.
Smiling, they both trotted away from the wide lake, completely unaware of a small creature following them.

Alexander walked to the lake to find a nice, quiet, spot to read. For a moment he took in the sights the lake had to offer. He took note of how calm the water was where he was standing. There was a cool breeze moving around him, and the sounds of the waterfall meeting with the lake was soothing.
After he finished looking at the lake, Alexander sat down at the edge. He had taken his shoes off and tucked his legs up against his body. He took another quick gaze at the lake and pulled out his current book. He had just began to read this book, and already he liked where it was going.

The waterfall continued cascading into the lake, but suddenly, a green creature bobbed up to the top, but was gone in an instant.

Alexander was reading his book at a decent pace, but every now and then he'd look up and make sure it was still just him. One of the times he looked up though, he caught a glimpse of something retreating into the lake's depths.
"What the..." He placed his index finger into the book on the page he was on and closed the book with his thumb and middle finger. Alexander stood up and looked over the lake for any movement again. "Anybody there?"

There was no response. No sign of life. But then, the green surfaced once more, going down even more quickly this time.

Alexander stopped for a moment and blinked hard. His eyes were shut for at least three seconds in this blink, and when he opened them again he looked over the water's edge once again. "H-hello? ..." He waited for whatever he just saw to surface again, but at the same time he was taking steps backwards away from the water's edge. Eventually, when the crest of the lake's edge wasn't visible to him anymore as he backed up, he turned around and ran off back into town.

Kuro had walked up the long trek from her inn with a cheerful bounce in her step. She was holding a basket with a cucumber and a picnic lunch in it. She came here every year early in the spring to bring an offering to the spirit in the lake. She'd stand at the lakes edge and toss off her shoes and roll up her pants to her knees and then toss the emerald green cucumber into the lake. "Thank you for the luck I have received this year in fishing and at my Inn." She'd say and clap her hands together and bow.

Kappa The water of the lake parted as the green creature rose from its depths. "Hi, you who gives." It said in broken english. The it was actually a he, and the he was a Kappa. He swam to show and pulled himself onto the bank.

Kuro was needless to say, very surprised. She had been giving offerings to the lake spirit here ever since she was a little girl but had never seen it in person before. "Are... you really the kappa?"
