Kibuulu'ardhi was casually walking along the edge of the forest that marked the boundaries of the Kusini'mwezi. Some times she liked to come out here, to sit, wait, and see if her son would come over the crescent of a hill and into her view. She knew it was stupid to do such a thing, but she couldn't help it. The lioness wasn't out there long anyways, just a little bit each day, to see if she could see him in the distance. He had only departed recently, so she truly didn't expect to see him any time soon. Yet, she could still hope that he would return to her. He had spoken of maybe never coming back, at least not to stay, and though that worried her, she dealt with it. If the life of a rogue was what her son wanted to lead, then she would very well allow it. Buu would never dare try to take away from her child's happiness.
The lioness weaved expertly through the trees and the undergrowth, and broke out into the sunlight of the rogue lands. Her eyes squinted at the almost painful contrast from the light and the shade of the trees. She remembered travelling across these lands, and visiting a few others. She remembered coming back with her young son in tow, and the surprise on everyone's faces that she had gotten pregnant, and there was no father in sight. Buu hadn't cared then, and she didn't care now. With a little sigh to herself, she sat down, her back against a tree, and gazed out across the savannah with a diligent hope that she would see her son.

Sawa yawned and shifted, grunting as his tongue lolled from his mouth. The sun's heat beating down on his dark pelt. Even though he was not fully black he might as well have been for all the red helped in the sun. The dark, beautiful color did nothing to make the sun's heated gaze moved away. He smiled faintly though because he knew the blessed shade of a large forest wasn't too far off, he could even see some of the trees in the distance as he was now. He was deliberately headed for the Kusini lands, still worried over the fact he had not seen his best friend for many moons and wondered once again if perhaps he had finally ventured back to his homelands. Sawa was no stranger to the Kusini lands, but he still was not sure if he was welcome in the lands or not. He'd never met the royalty there, really he was not sure if he even wanted to.
After a little while he was finally almost at the woods, and he cought scent of the female before he actually laid eyes on her. Her colors blended well with the surroundings and he thought many might just ignore the smell and miss her completely, which would have been a sad thing. She was a beautiful female, but he really did think all females were beautiful. He bowed his head as he got even closer, but he did slow down. "Oy, 'ey thur lil' miss. Yeh be from the kusini lans' ahea'?" He asked in an easy and friendly manner, jutting his chin toward the woods behind her as he asked. If she was then he could certainly ask about his friend, and if she'd seen him. And if she wasn't... well, either way he could stay and chat with a pretty face. He felt the the days he spent alone grow longer all the time, and the only female he'd been with he hadn't seen since. It hadn't been an abandonment thing on his part, it was the simple fact that after they'd coupled the golden lioness had disappeared from the make-shift den he'd found the next morning. He wasn't upset about it, he'd been happy for the encounter. Still, it would be nice if once and a while the lionesses that came into his life stayed there.

Instead of seeing her son (which she truly did not expect, but then again, she didn't expect to see anyone in this time of day - it was hot out) she saw a lion headed straight towards the Kusini. It was as if he knew exactly where to go, but Buu was sure that she hadn't seen him before. She was also certain that he would stick out like a sore thumb around the Kusini, with the black and red contrasting starkly against one another. But, he seemed to have some knowledge of the place, or maybe he was just determined to be going somewhere, and the Kusini lands were in the way of that somewhere. Either way, or curiosity was piqued, and she found herself curiously watching him as he traversed across the rogue lands and towards the Kusini.
It was only until much later that she realized he was headed in her direction. Well, she certainly hadn't expected that. She knew she blended in well with the trees, but either way, she wasn't unhappy. She enjoyed meeting new lions, and there was nothing threatening in his posture or his voice. The way he talked was even nice, along with being amusing. "Ah, yes, I am. I'm Kibuulu'ardhi..." she let her voice trail of, waiting for him to fill the empty space with his own name, and his reason for coming to talk to her. She had to admit that she was curious about that. If he wanted to get somewhere, surely he wouldn't want to be sidetracked by talking to a somewhat talkative female. Of course, she wasn't being terribly chatty yet. She was just waiting for them to know each other a little better, and then she'd open up a little more. One always had to be cautious around strangers, though Buu didn't feel particularly threatened. She was likely faster than he was, and she knew her surroundings far better than he did. She considered herself pretty safe, at the very least.

"Aye, wha' a delicate mouthful.." He teased when she announced who she was, a playful grin on his face. "I do say I migh' butcher it if I try an' say it ou'righ so I think i be jus' goin' with Buulu, s'okay?" It wasn't completely true, but he'd thought of the nickname instantly and he liked nicknames quite a bit. He thought they were cute, even though her name was stunning.
He coughed and cleared his throat. "Ah, righ' an' I be Sawa." Ushaufu at birth, but he'd long since given up that name and only a few actually knew of it. Usually he didn't bother mentioning it, the fact never seemed important to him. "So yeh do be from these lans.." He said softly, once again glancing past her. He sat slowly though, obviously just as ready for a conversation. "I be a rogue who's seen many lan's, and quite a few moons ago I do be doin' all tha' travelin' with mah bes' mate, bu' now 'e's nowhere ta be found... an' any'ow I was wonderin' if ye'd been seeing a red lion about in yer lands?" He usually forgot that there were more than a few red lions in the Kusini, Siyo had told him a bit about his large family.

"Key-boo-loo-arrd-he." She pronounced her name in carefuly syllables to Sawa, in case he ever wanted to actually say her full name. She didn't mind him giving her a nickname, and it was even flattering that he had decided to call her it. "Most of my family and friends call me Buu, but I like Buulu. It's cute." Sawa had beaten her to the pounce of getting in a nickname, so Buu saw no problem personally with letting him call her it. Besides, she liked it. So, apparently Buulu was going to stick. "Sawa," she repeated, her voice lifting with amusement. "Short and simple - I do like it. Of course, I think I have an inclination to exaggerated and long names. I did name my son Bahati'chozi, but Sawa is a name I do like." Anyways, it would only be rude to say that she didn't like his name, and Buu would never be rude, especially to a stranger. If she hadn't liked his name, he would never have found out.
She listened intently as he began to talk, but when he asked her if she had seen a red lion, she could only draw up a blank. Sure she had seen red lions in the Kusini before, but they had been born and raised here. Sawa was being awfully general... all she knew was that he was red, and that he was a male. "Umm... what color are his eyes? What's his name? I don't really recall seeing anyone like that... but perhaps if I knew a little more about him I'd be able to remember something?" She only wanted to be helpful, but with so little information on Sawa's friend, it was difficult to even picture him. She just got a blob of red showing up in her mind. "Is he a light red or a dark red?"

Sawa chuckled at Buulu's announcing of how to pronounce her name, and just to please her he repeated, mimicking the drawing out of the sounds though. "Key-boo-loo-arr'-e." Though his accent made it sound a little different, he had the jist of it. "Aye. I was righ' I jus' no can say it as nicely as yerself." He winked and chuckled again, happy she was okay with her nickname. His tail flicked and he shifted his weight a little before letting his tail curl around his paws, finally comfortable. His ears were perked upward, taking in each word she spoke.
Ah! She had a son, which automatically led Sawa to assume she was mated. He knew of lionesses who raised their cubs alone, he knew there was nothing wrong with it, but more often than not he'd found that cubs meant a male at their lovely sides. Too bad, too. Still, that never had stopped Sawa from socializing and perhaps flirting a little before. "Oy, seems yeh do like the names long." He teased and grinned. "Though I mus' say yeh do 'ave good taste." Sawa didn't think he'd ever be able to name a cub, names were complicated. After all, his name had meant deception and he'd never really been that decieving, at least he didn't think so. Sawa was a positive name, one he think suited him better. Yes, completely opposite of his best mate Siyo, which meant no. He never understood why a mother would name her cub such, but he'd never questioned it either.
Ah, right. Details... everyone wanted details, but Sawa quite enjoyed looking at the bigger picture of things. He had to shut his eyes to call up a picture of Siyo in his mind and he sat like that as he patiently thought of answers to her questions. "'e be 'avin er... green eyes. An' 'e as this kinda dusteh brown stripes 'cross 'is nose.." He opened his eyes then and lifted his paw to show where he meant. "'as a bit uh cream on 'is chin an' belly I think... 'is red is.." He frowned and glanced over his shoulder to check out his own red coloration. "A bi' brigher than mine I woul' say." He looked to her and grinned. "Tha'elp? Oh, 'is name be Siyo an' I do no' suppose 'ed be hanging aroun' beautiful females such as yerself."

All right, now she had to consider the fact that the way Sawa pronounced her name was a bit adorable. His accent played a key role in that, and so Buu couldn't help but chuckle softly to herself at his pronounciation. She didn't mind that he had missed a few letters. "It's all right, even my family has difficulty saying it. That's why everyone just sticks to Buu, usually. I don't think there are many difficulties in saying that right." The lioness nodded her head, a kind smile still playing upon her facial features. There didn't seem to be an end to her pleasant attitude and kind disposition. It was a rare moment when Buu showed anyone the doubt or the sadness that plagued her heart and mind, but even when those things did show up, it was so rare that it made little impact on her life. She had the perfect life, in her opinion. She had everything she could have desired.
"Hmm, thank you. It was hard coming up with a name all on my own. But, my boy never seems to mind it when I call him by his full name. We usually just call him Baha... because it's easier." Buu was far from being mated, and though she seemed like the type males would naturally be attracted to, she really hadn't shown any inclinations towards males before and after she had gotten pregnant and had Baha. It certainly had been a surprise to her family that she had gotten pregnant at all. But, she had thought she had found a nice male to settle down with. She had been wrong, and since then she hadn't met anyone that really caught her interest. Until she did, she'd remain at the sidelines, waiting patiently for that lion who would catch her eye.
She... believed that she remembered someone who looked like that, though it was a distant memory, and the lion was much younger then she was assuming him to be. So, she decided that it wasn't worth mentioning. He wanted to know where Siwo was recently, and she hadn't seen him come through the Kusini lands. If she had, she would have been more than glad to have told him that. "Ah... sorry, I don't recall seeing someone like that around here recently. I'm really sorry, I wish I could help you out a little more, but it seems as if I'm not really all that much help. I'm even distracting you from searching for him." She gave Sawa a sincere, apologetic smile.

Sawa chuckled at her comment, wondering if she had a big family or a small family. He always envied those who seemed very close to their families, because he'd left his when he was very young. He had run into his father, in the kusini lands amusingly enough, but he'd never been able to bump into the others and had no clue of their whereabouts. His mother had left his father, apparently. He did not really resent his family, he missed them sometimes, it was just the way things had turned out. Sawa had always had the lust to travel to different lands, but it's novelty was slowly wearing away with every moon that passed that Siyo had been missing. It was terribly lonely traveling by one's self, no matter how many new faces you met.
His ears perked up and something about the male visibly became more interested in what she was saying. So she'd come up with a name on her own... well, it wouldn't hurt to dig around a little. "Ah, an' yer mate 'ad no qualms 'bout tha', to no' be a par' o' namin'is boy?" He spoke carefully, unsure if he was treading on thin ice or not. Some lionesses it was easy to talk about mates, lack of them, et cetera. And others it just wasn't, he'd found.
"Oy... though' no." He admitted. He'd only had a slim hope of finding the male in the Kusini lands, he prayed to the gods above he was still alive and well. "Yeh do no' be distractin' me.." He said with a laugh. "Well, if yeh do be it's in a good way I mus' admit." He grinned cheekily at the lioness, shamelessly flirting. "Siyo's a big boy, 'e can fend fer 'imself. Jus' would calm meh mind teh know tha' he's well were'e'er he be."

Kibuulu couldn't be anything else but close to her family. She was the kind of lioness that needed that closeness in order to obtain any state of happiness. It was a good thing that she surrounded herself with her family, because it was always painful to see one of them leave, and having the rest of the family around her helped to soothe and ease her pains. She was very much dependent on them, and she would never hide the fact. That was the very reason why she could not stray away from the Kusini for too long. She had, once, when she was younger, but all the journey did was help her realize just how much she needed her family. The journey had been enough to convince her never to leave the Kusini again, and now the furthest she had been from her homelands was to the boundary. For some reason she just could not take herself that far past it.
She blinked in surprise, finally realizing that he had made the assumption that she had a mate, which was far from the truth. When as easy smile, she quickly made to correct this. "I have no mate. Bahati's father left when I became pregnant. I do not think he was ready for the responsibility, and even now I'm not sure if I was, either. I wish he would've stayed, but life is like that, and Bahati had plenty of father figures to look up to while he was growing up. He turned out rather well, I believe."
Well, she was relieved that even though she was distracting him, he wasn't bothered by it. She was put at ease, and at his laugh, her smile grew just a little. "I'm glad for that, then. I must imagine it can be boring, looking for someone for any extended amount of time. Have you any clue where he might have gone?" She nodded her head, intending to reassure Sawa that Siyo was fine, wherever he was. "Of course he'll be all right. As you said, he's a big boy, and I know many creatures who wouldn't want to mess around with a big boy."

His digging had been a success! So it had turned out she was a signle mother, and things like that just made Sawa completely thrilled. Still, he hardly knew the female but it did mean he wouldn't feel guilty about flirting later. "Ah, I un'erstand." He said softly, amazed at how forgiving she was. "Many females no' can le'go so easily as it seems yeh 'ave... I be sure tha' even if yer son 'ad no father figure he would still be a fine lion, bein' raised by such an amazin' lioness." It was good thing Sawa meant these things, he hated males who just made up anything that sounded nice and spit it out. Really, females should be treated much better than that. He asked no more questions of what could have, at one time or another, been her mate. Think if he'd really been ready to have cubs? Then Perhaps Sawa would not be sitting here with her, having this conversation.
Sawa's head tilted and he looked slightly questioningly at her. "Borin'?" He repeated, a sly grin creeping onto his face. "Nah, I jus' do wha' I usually do an' go from area to area, bu' I do keep 'im in the back of my mind alo' and 'ope maybe I'll see i'm here or there." He shrugged. "An' to where 'e woulda gone... this be the only place I coul' think o' though 'e ne'er really liked it 'ere as a cub. Jus' cause o'is mom, which is a pity since the lan's are so beautiful an' all." He shook his head slightly and then his face lit up.
"Ah, think yeh could lead me teh the waterin'oles?" He said, smiling pleasently once again. "One does work up qui'e a thirs' while walkin' all the way an' I would say I'd just look fer it myself bu' I do find I rather be enjoying yer fine company."

"Well, there was nothing that could have been done about it, so I really don't see the point in hanging on to the hope that the dad would come back. He wasn't ready, I was. My son was fortunate that at least one of us was ready for him." Sometimes, though, she did wish that Baha's father hadn't left. But, there was nothing she could have done at the time, and nothing that could be done now. He was gone, Baha was grown up, and Buu would have to look for a family elsewhere. She knew that Baha wouldn't be sticking around. He had the roaming genes, though she did hope he would eventually settle down. It was hard picturing her only son spending the rest of his life wandering through the vast roguelands. "Oh," she blinked at the clear compliment, unsure of really how to take it. But, eventually a smile blossomed onto her face. "Thank you, I try my best to raise him well. I like to think I was destined to be a mother, and nothing else."
Buu tilted her head back, forcing her bangs away from her face. They had the nasty habit of obscuring her vision, and Buu liked to be able to see the lions who she was talking to. "Oh, I tried travelling once. I don't think I enjoyed it so much. I like staying in one place, surrounded by friends and family. It is comforting." She tilted her head to the side, eyeing Sawa curiously. "Who was his mother? I'm not sure there are many unpleasant lionesses in the Kusini. It is a pity that he didn't get along with her. These lands are... well, they're home, if you can understand what I'm trying to say."
She stood up slowly, stretching her front legs out in order to work out the little kinks in her back. It was a good stretch, and then with an amiable smile she turned her attention back to him. "I'll gladly lead you to a watering hole. If you'll follow me?" She turned and began to walk back into the forest, a forest which any lion could easily get lost in. It was what usually kept rogues out of the Kusini, and kept the Kusini safe.

She sounded as if she had her son when she was younger, though if Sawa put a couple of things together he could figure out that was correct; her son was old enough to travel, she still looked rather young... yes, it made sense. He respected the fact that she'd seemed to be so responsible at such a young age, he could never pull off such a feat when he'd been that young. Of course, he could hardly be called mature in these days, but he was hardly childish. He just had a thirst for excitement and new lands, even though it was now drying up and he became more aware of longing for a family, a place to call home and a lioness who needed him.
His smile was soft and slightly amused, and he chuckled slightly. "Des'nd ta be a mother.." He repeated softly, nodding as if that seemed fitting even though he'd only known this lioness for all but a pawful of minutes. "'sgood ta know wha' yer good at an' wha' yeh wish teh do with yer life... a bi'arder when yer changin' yer mind all the time." He might have been implying himself, but he was content enough not to eleborate. He wished he was as sure of himself as this lioness was, it was a whole different level of confidence that he didn't posess. His ears twitched and he raised his brows, surprised to find someone who did not enjoy traveling. Of course, most of the lions he met were fellow travelers and it was natural for them to enjoy the sparadic life style. "Aye, I'd imagine it be more comfortin' teh be close ta family, does 'ave it's only little charm to it." Well, he imagined it did because he'd never really been close to family and his only friend he really stuck around had seemingly disappeared off the face of the planet. "'is mother..." He stated, thinking hard about it. "Looked nothin' like 'im." He finally cuncluded with a teasing smile and a shrug. "I don' really recall 'er name and I've never met 'er myself. I dunno if she's still around the lands either... 'e didn't speak o'er a lot."
He just continued to smile as she again spoke highly of the Kusini lands. It was refreshing to hear such nice things about the pretty lands, as he'd heard mostly negative comments out of Siyo's mouth. And even with the Negative comments Sawa had never really disliked the lands, he'd traveled through them twice and on both accounts he'd had a pleasant time. He began to move after her, tail flicking slightly as he watched her walk a moment, enjoying the view. He only allowed himself that moment though before he shifted his pad falls and moved up beside her, seemingly not bothered by the dense and confusing labirynth of trees. "So yeh 'ave a son... no mate... and I am assumin' o'er family?" He tried to coax more information out of her, finding that he was enjoying her company immensely.

"I guess I do like the sense of direction, but I'm already missing Baha, and he's barely grown. I would have more cubs, but I do not think I could stand to have another fatherless litter. Baha did fine without a father, but I don't think I would do so well without a father for my cubs if a second time came around." She really did doubt she'd have children again, which was why she cherished the pride's children so much. There was always an abundancy of them, and Baha had only been one of many when he was born. She had siblings and adopted-siblings, and even her adoptive parents had more cubs. Needless to say, Buu had many opportunities to satisfy her motherly urges. She did not truly need another litter herself - she may long for one, but with so many cubs around, she really did not need it. No, she was happy playing aunt to all her neices and nephews. The thought of them easily brought a smile to her face, and she felt herself become satisfied with what she had. "They're always there to comfort you - a family. I don't know what I'd do without them behind me one hundred percent of the way in every decision I make in life."
She frowned to herself, a little unhappy that she was unable to help Sawa out with finding his companion. "I do not suppose I would be able to recognize her, then. I am sorry, I wish I could be of more help. But, if I don't know, there's likely not to be many others who do if he's came through here. We all pretty much know what goes on in the pride." She sounded truly apologetic, because she did want to be helpful to him. He seemed like a nice enough lion, and certainly charming in his own way. Sawa easily drew out the desire in her to aid him in whatever endeavors she had ability to help with.
Buu expertly manuevered herself through the growth and the underbrush. She had spent so much time in the thick woods that she swore she knew every crevice, nook, and cranny. These woods were her home, and so she was unphased by the brush of greenery against her brown pelt, her tail flicking idly behind her as she made her way through the woods. "I had a mother, but she died shortly after giving birth to me. I have a father as well, and two sibling... and plenty more half-siblings. I was sort of adopted, too, so Nyunya and Taabu are considered my parents as well... and they have so many children that it's hard to keep track of. We're all rather thoroughly connected. It's a large, overwhelming family, but I love it. I wouldn't change it for the world."
In a matter of minutes she had brought Sawa to a small watering hole, the forest seeming to grow loud with the life that was hovering around the water. She smiled fondly at the noise, and then gestured with her head to Sawa, encouraging him to drink his fill.

He frowned slightly and nodded. A lioness without a mate, who had cubs, would probably get lonely a lot. He just assumed so, though. He didn't even know he'd impregnated a female not too long ago, leaving her with four cubs of her own to raise and no father in sight. It wasn't like he was avoiding that 'problem', he just wasn't aware of it. He thought though that it would be hard to watch something grow that looked so much lion a lion you were in love with, or at least in lust with. "Sometimes I think tha' yeh 'ave such a deep connection with som'un else tha'is hard teh le'em go... yer gunna miss'em no ma'er how far or close 'e is cause yeh know theres always the chance o'em leavin', through some acciden' or choice." His words were soft, and surprisingly thoughtful for a male who was usually viewed just as a male looking for some action.
He shrugged again as she continued to apologize for not being able to help. He figured as much, it would only be a very slim chance if anyone really knew who he was speaking of anyhow. It didn't bother him too much, he wouldn't let himself get super depressed over the loss of his best friend, it'd been too long already. "Eh... iffin he comes aroun' than 'e does an' if 'e do no' than I be'es appy where e'er he's gone, righ?" He said with a grin toward Buu. "Yeh shoul' jus think positively o' this stuff o'er wise yer gunna eat yerself alive with worry." It was true enough, it happened to him rarely and he did not like it at all so he often tried to avoid it.
Sawa was doing alright getting through the forest, but often he started to lag behind if his paw got caught in a tangle of vines or he had to maneuver awkwardly over a log or those such things, but it was another dead give away to anyone he hasn't told or met that he'd been in the Kusini lands before. When they came to the small clearing in the woods with a watering hole in the center he did look a little surprised. "Oy, this is refreshing.." He said and laughed. "I do believe I've only though' the wa'ering'oles were in the grassy part o'yer lands, ne'er seen this one before." He moved past her, his tail flicking and slightly brushing against her body because he did not realize he was so close. It flicked quickly enough away and he kept his eyes on the hole, moving forward and leaning down to drink. The woods were probably his favorite parts of the lands, very beautiful if not a little complicated.

"I don't know if our connection was that deep, because I don't really miss him. I miss him for the sake of my son, but for my heart? No, I do not. Perhaps one day I'll find someone who can cause me such worry over them being a hour late coming back to the den, and it's dark out." The look on her face was briefly wistful as she entertained such notions. Even if she was sick with worry all the time, having someone to truly love, and be loved in return, was something she longed for. It would make her life rather fully complete. She wanted a relationship like her mother and father had, like Taabu and Nyunya (though perhaps not as explosive). Buu was just waiting for that someone, and having thoroughly scoured out the Kusini, she was sure that the lion for her was not here. But... she couldn't bring herself to leave the Kusini again, and so she contented herself with her life. She took in the simple pleasures, and paid careful attention to each moment spent with her son, so she could better enjoy it and memorize it.
She turned her smile to him, sincerely listening to the words that fell past his lips. "You're right. It's always best to develop a positive attitude to everything. I've always been quite... positive myself. I seemed to never fail in bringing a smile to my siblings' faces, and it makes me happy to be able to do that." Buu supposed that she would forget about her inability to aid Sawa, as it was better for her not to dwell on it. Sawa seemed pleased, and as long as he was happy, she would not let her own mood drag him down. It was always rude to put someone else through one's own unhappiness. If Buu was sad, she kept it to herself. The same went for when she was experiencing other emotions that were less then happy.
"Well, when the rain falls well, pools like this develop, and with the shade of the trees, it takes a while for it evaporate. I don't think I've ever seen this spot empty of water." She blushed, though she couldn't quite explain why, when his tail flicked against her side, and she very nearly shied away from the touch. But, no, the only visible reaction was the unreasonable blush, and then she was moving forward to sit down a little behind him. She wasn't thirsty herself, so she would wait for him to drink his fill, and then proceed to help him to the best of her abilities.
