"Hot.... hot.... why is it so hot out?"
Alchemist's legs dragged across the forest floor slowly, snapping branches and crunching leaves loudly as he shuffled along. It wasn't often that he left the safety of the Post Office, but the summer's heat had invaded the tall building with a vengance, making the inside unbearabley hot and humid.
He had hoped that the thick cover of the forest would look kindly upon his pitiful state, and perhaps bestow upon him a cool spot to rest. However, the heat had broken through even the canopy's defences, and to his dismay it was only slightly less oppressive than in the Post Office.
Pausing, Alchemist lifted his head slowly and tilted his ears back and forth, his pale eyes reflecting a ray of sunshine. Somewhere a woodpecker drilled its way through a piece of soft timber.... beyond that, chipmunks chattered away in the tree tops.... further still, running water swept through the forest. "Aha!" he mumbled to himself thoughfully. "I knew I remembered a river being somewhere near here."
Resuming his sluggish pace, he headed in the direction that the water's rippling sounds came from.

she was greatfull to have a white pelt, she really really was, as apposed to some darker Eoghan who must be absolutely -dieing- in this heat. Ellsaba, despise her light colored body... was still suffering of effects of being in the heat to long.
her paws lingered a safe distance from the waters edge, staring dizzily at the clear, inviting water, but the potential of what could be in the water... kept her from wandering into it. for one... there were things living it in... Things -living- in it, and who knows how big the fish were in it, if they decided to come up and chomp her toes off. it was a fear she knew others would laugh about of cource, but it was genuine in her mind at the very least, and it succeeded in keeping her out of the water despite her rapidly deteriorating composure.
weivering softly in her stance as she stared blankly at the cool liquid, swelling and falling, swelling and falling. the flowers tied neatly in her hair only drooped and wilted further the longer she stood there.

~splash splash whooosh splash~
Alchemist's ears twitched back and forth more frantically the louder the sound of the river became. Even though it was so hot out, he found himself moving faster and faster towards the water. He could just imagine the nice, cool water washing away all his troubles as a smile widened across his face.
He could feel the contents of the forest floor- sticks, leaves, stones- bumping against his legs as he went, but he didn't really care anymore. A mushroom, a stump, ...was that a squirrel? When finally;
*SPLASH*
Alchemist came flying out of the forest' growth and straight into the river face-first. *Bubble~ Bubble~ Bubble~* Even lying down, the water just barely covered his back, but he didn't care. Who needed air when something felt this good?
*gurgle....*
No, wait. He definetely needed air. Alchemsit flung his head back above the water's surface, sucking in a deep breathe of air. It wasn't until then that he realized he wasn't alone.

the first hint that something was different was the alarmed scream of a squirrel. it drew Ellsaba's attention away from the lake, making the sudden -SPLASH- a more alarming surprise then it should have been. though the flex of water that were propelled from the disturbance jarred her.
squawking in alarm before her ears sunk back over her head when she felt droplets of water dripping from her chest, a slow shrill whine starting to sound from her throat. ohmygod ohmygosh the water is touching meeee the thought to herself frantically, worried about what kind of batiria and small critters could be crawling around in her fur right now. her over active imagination was -not- helping.

Alchemist's ears wiggled back and forth. That sound... what WAS that?! It was almost like... a mouse had been grabbed by an owl. But no... that couldn't be. It was much too early in the day for that, and if there'd been an owl around he surely would have heard it.
He stood on all four legs, the water only coming up just past his knees. He turned around towards the source of the sound, but couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when he finally faced it. He had been expecting something no bigger than a raccoon at best, but was suprised to find that the presence that stood before him was only slightly smaller than himself.
Water drizzled off of Alchemist's fur and feathers, hitting the river below him noisily. He took a step towards the creature in front of him, fairly confident it was an Eoghan he was with judging by its aura. But truth be told, that sound it was making had him a bit thrown off. "H-hello...?" he said to it, not sure what to expect.
