sleap apnea is one thing that can lead to diabeties. my mother has it, my father has it, and i have it, we are the only people in my family that have it, and we are the only people with diabeties. i have been told that having sleap apnea, leads to diabeties. sleap apnea has you waking up when you are sleaping because of not breathing when you sleap. i believe it also makes people snore. i just know that it is one cause of diabeties.

Hmm? Sleep apnea leading to diabetes? I've never heard of that.
My stepmom has sleep apnea, but after being on oxygen for about a year every night, it seems to have cleared up.
I hope you're still getting enough sleep. I'm fairly sure I have insomnia. Lack of sleep is not fun.

Sleep apnea doesn't cause diabeties, but both are commonly associated with obesity.

Sleep apnea is when a person has difficulty with breathing while they sleep.
It can cause fatigue, headaches, memory loss, and damage body tissues. (depending on the severity)

actually, i asked that question to my diabeties educator yesterday, and she told me there is a link between the two.

a link, but not a possible cause

A cause hasn't been deturmined. All that is currently known is that for type 1 the pancreas doesn't produce sufficient insulin. For type 2 it is usually an immunity to the enzymes, causing the sugar not to break down properly or the tissue not accepting it. (as well as insufficient supply)

oh, alright, i might be mistaken, it was just something i was told by my diabetic educator.

oh, maybe it is a link, and i thought it was a cause, or maybe it is one of the things that lead to it.

My older sister was being treated for sleep apnea. She told me it was because she would sometimes stop breathing in her sleep, so they would run tests on her that she hated, and from what she told me about them I don't blame her one bit.

i agree, my father was not even able to complete the test. i completed the test, but i was not able to get to sleap, and my mother was diagnosed in the hospital. they did not need to do the tests on her. the machines picked it up. i have a machine, but i never use it, because it is impossible. it is so hard to get to sleap with it.

That sucks.
They didn't give my sis a machine (that I know of) but she had so many other odds and ends in her apartment that she wouldn't have found it anyway. They just hauled her in for treatments or tests every month or so which they scheduled around her dialysis treatments and other appointments. It made it just little bit hard to find time to spend with her.

i understand that. with everything that needs to be done, including work, and sleaping alone, people really do not get much time to see the ones they love. when my father was alive, before he retired from his job, he would get up at 4:35 a.m., just to get to the train station and make the train to work, which started at 8:00 a.m. by the time he got home the five days a week that he went to work, it was around 6:30 p.m. that was work alone.

I understand that one too
While I was in school, my dad use to work 2 weeks days, 2 weeks evenings. On his evening shifts we never saw him those weeks as he would be sleeping when we got up for school, and on his way to work when we came home.

but yet, even though he did not have much time in the day to spend with us, he made us feel so special. it felt as if we were with eachother for more time than we were. we always went to garage sales, played pool, bowled, he loved my sister and i having a good time.
