How to Have a Personal Connection With God
(From John's Gospel in "The Message")

1. God Knows Everyone's Heart - John 2:24-25: "But Jesus didn't entrust his life to them. He knew them inside and out, knew how untrustworthy they were. He didn't need any help in seeing right through them."

2. Everyone Needs God - John 3:19: "This is the crisis we're in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God."

3. Everyone Must Be Born Again - John 3:3: "Jesus said, "You're absolutely right. Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it's not possible to see what I am pointing to- to God's kingdom."

4. Jesus Came to Take Away the World's Sin - John 1:29: "The very next day, John, (the Baptist), saw Jesus coming toward him and yelled out, Here he is, God's Passover Lamb! He forgives the sins of the world!"

5. God Loves Everyone - John 3:16-17: "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again."

6. Jesus Accepts Anyone Who Comes to Him - John 6:37: "Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don't let go."

7. Belief in Jesus is Required for Eternal Life - John 3:36: "That is why whoever accepts and trusts the Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever! And that is also why the person who avoids and distrusts the Son is in the dark and doesn't see life. All he experiences of God is darkness, and an angry darkness at that."

8. Once You Connect With God, You Are Connected Forever - John 10:27-29: "My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them real and eternal life. They are protected from the Destroyer for good. No one can steal them out of my hand. The Father who put them under my care is so much greater than the Destroyer and Theif. No one could ever get them away from him."

Thank you to the Webster Conference Center for letting me post written copies of Evangelism Scriptures, The Bible is a Valuable Source of Wisdom, Answers Found In Scripture and Connect. These are the things that helped me when I came to first believe, and even now, and hope they can do the same for others.

The Message Translation ^^
Oh~ Never heard of that kind before~ I usually read NIV and LAB Bibles~ I have heard that the NASB and NKJV aren't bad either~ All of my Bible's are student Bibles, so it has clarification on verses and what not, which is incredibly helpful!

I only have the NIV bible, with no help or anything in it ^^; lol. Same one I've had for years now, but it serves the purpose. Wait, so question, how many do you own??

I own three. A KJV I got awhile back, but have given up reading it because of how hard it is. That was the first Bible I obtained~ Next was the Student Life Application Bible, which is pretty massive. It's the first Bible I got that I regularly read out of~ Finally I bought the NIV, it's a student-compact version, and it's relatively small. It's pretty trashed though, because I take it a lot of places~ XD
