"P-perhaps it was west... or maybe north..."

"Oh, but which way was that again!?"

Far into the grasslands, a circle could be seen from above on the ground. It wasn't a cavern, nor something as fantastic as a crop circle. Pacing in circles and wearing down the thick, tall stalks of grass was a small green creature. A pygmy Eoghan, to be precise. But even for one without flight it wouldn't be hard to pinpoint her location. Her bright rainbow-colored wings and silver headdress reflected the sunshine of the afternoon as a small group of butterflies fluttered overhead.

But it was neither of these things that truly gave her away. No, it was her loud cries of concern that resonated most across the wide plains.

Aryll sat up on her haunches, stretching her neck upward as she desperately tried to see over the tall grass that surrounded her. She had never been this far into the grasslands before, and now the familiar scent of the Post Office evaded her every effort to follow it home.

"I could always try singing. Yes, someone might hear me if I did that. But then again, what if it's someone I don't want to hear me? Aaaaahhh, what do I do now?"

Frenzy had a...love-hate relationship with butterflies. On one talon, he loved their shiny, vibrant colors. He could watch them flit through the grasslands for hours watching the sun glint off of the brightly-colored scales of their wings, and he loved it when he managed to make himself sit still long enough for one to land on his beak.

On the other talon, when he could not get himself to sit still for longer than a few seconds...they were absolute pains in the metal rump to catch.

Frenzy leapt over the top of a slight hill with a determined yell and snapped his beak at the butterflies fleeing him, but he missed and only succeeded in falling back into the tall grass and tumbling down the other side of the hill with a series of startled squawks. Frag it all - he almost got it that time! Why he had such a compulsion to chase and chomp on them, he had no idea, and he long since gave up trying to figure it out, instead deciding to just follow his instinct and bite at the winged insects - when they let him, that is.

Aryll continued her pacing in the grass. Singing... what a bad idea! If no one could hear her shouting, why would they hear her singing?

"Oooh. This is the worst..." Aryll sighed and looked up at the sky, watching as the clouds moved swiftly along the wind's path. That wind was just as strong now as it was when she was first blown out into the grasslands.
Scuffling her paws in the ground, she puffed out her cheeks in frustration. "If I wasn't so tiny, maybe the wind wouldn't tease me so much." Aryll didn't dislike her butterfly-like wings, but she often became easily caught in updrafts due to them. And this time it had gotten her into trouble.

Stamping her front paws on the ground, she hopped to her feet and frowned. "Well, anywhere has to be better than here!" she shouted. With a determined look on her face, Aryll began jumping up and down- up and down. With each bounce she slowly began to rise over the tall grass, until...

WHOOOOOOSH~

She collided with a strong breeze, her small body lifting up into the air. Struggling to turn herself right-side up, Aryll flailed her legs back and forth desperately when suddenly, as quickly as it came, the wind was gone.

"This is..... BAAAAAAADD-" Before Aryll could finish her cry as she plummeted towards the ground, she collided with something below. Something much harder and wrigglier than she remembered the ground to be....

"OW!" the ground yelped as soon as she fell though the ground usually did not talk. Frenzy squirmed until he was out from under whatever landed on him then turned to see what it was. He let out a startled squawk and scrambled back a step when the first thing he saw was the largest set of butterfly wings he had ever seen. All those butterflies he ate in the past had apparently called their guardian queen butterfly or something and sent her to get revenge on him - oh, wait.

Once he finally quit panicking and noticed the giant butterfly had a tail and was not really a butterfly but another Eoghan, Frenzy just boggled at her for a moment before he dared to speak, "Uh...y'alright..?"

Aryll slowly pushed herself upright, sitting back on her haunches and rubbing her head fiercely with her front paws. "Ooooo... that hurt!" she groaned, wincing in pain.

As she rubbed her head, something occured to her.

Ow. "Ow"? Did the ground usually say "Ow"? A shiver ran up Aryll's spine as she realized something. She. was. not. alone. Slowly turning, she found herself face to face with what was quite possibly the shiniest Pygmy she'd ever seen. Clenching her front paws together, a smile widened across her beak.

Suddenly, she burst forward, wrapping her arms around Frenzy's neck. "I'm fine! I'm more than fine now! I thought I'd never see another living creature again when I got lost in these grasslands!!" Her tail shook back and forth vigerously; not angrily the way a cat's would, but happily like a dog.

Frenzy let out another squawk when the giant butterfly pounced him and tried to scramble back away from it only to end up flat on his back with her on top of him. "Whoa, whoa! Calm down!" he yelped. "S'goin' on?" Now that he had a better look at her, his beak turned down in a frown. He couldn't imagine why she was out here - she didn't seem like the type to live out in the "wilderness" given how panicked she was - and all over being in the grasslands?

Aryll pushed herself up off of Frenzy's chest, her cheeks turning a faint pinkish color. She clapped her two front paws together and tried to put on her sweetest smile. "I-I'm sorry good sir! It would seem that I've forgotten my manners!" She fidgeted about uneasily, still thoroughly embarassed by her behavior. After all, who was this guy anyways? He might have been a wolf in sheep's clothing for all she knew. Still, beggars couldn't be choosers when choices were few and far between.

"But please understand; I was starting to worry I'd never see anyone again out in this place! It's only been a few hours, but they've felt like days!" Aryll twiddled her thumbs sheepishly. She was fully aware of how foolish she probably looked at that moment. What she didn't seem to realize was that she gave a distinct "out of her mind" vibe as well...

"So, um... you wouldn't happen to know how to get out of here, would you?" she said softly, her face still wearing a pinkish hue.

Yep, this had to be what the organics meant with that expression "odd duck". Still...it was rather amusing. Were all organics so skittish and panicky? "Outta where?" Frenzy asked, struggling to keep his amusement from showing. "Yer in the grasslands - ain't like it's that outta the way or off the map. Where'd 'ya come from?" If she was from somewhere nearby, he supposed he could escort her back to where she came from - maybe she would provide further entertainment.

Aryll tilted her head and scratched the back of it sheepishly. He may have been made of tin cans, but he had a point. Honestly, though; where else would she want to go other than the Post Office? As far as she knew there could be 8-armed giants or the like beyond these plains. She honestly didn't know.

Clearing her throat, she sat up straight, trying not to make eye-contact with the other Pygmy. "Well, the Post Office I suppose." She raised an eyebrown and grinned, trying to act cool. "You know what that is, r-right?"

Slowly Aryll's grin faded. It had only just now occured to her that this guy could be one of those nasty wild Eoghan she'd heard about. The kind that liked to torment little creature for fun and such. Her wings twitched and back unvoluntarily in a nervous fashion, the sun gleaming off them in a rainbow-like manner.

When Aryll's wings gleamed in the sunlight, Frenzy was hit by an almost uncontrollable urge to bat at them just like he did real butterflies - almost. Thankfully, that little voice in the back of his head, the one that told him he was an idiot when he had such random ideas, stopped him. "Yeah, I know where it is," Frenzy answered once he regained some composure. "'Ya were headin' in the totally wrong direction if yer lookin' fer the Post Office." Shaking his head, Frenzy flicked some dirt off of his tail and shook loose grass stuck in his joints from his earlier tumble before he started through the tall grasses. "This way."

Aryll blinked and slowly watched as Frenzy shook himself off. Hold on! It couldn't be...? She raised a paw, waving it lightly at him. "Wait a moment, please! I- I didn't hurt you before, did I?" She tapped her front paws together lightly, trying not to make eye contact with him.

He was a bit blunt, but seemed nice enough. Even if he did look like a giant walking can opener. If he was injured, what would she do if he randomly collapsed? Or worse...? Aryll shook her head a bit. No no. That would not happen. As usual, she was letting her imagination take hold of her.

But still, things wouldn't feel right if she didn't at least try to set things straight. "I'm Aryll, by the way~" She held out her paw to him, trying to remember her etiquette.

"Naw, I'm made a' tougher stuff than that," Frenzy answered with a grin. "If anythin', I'd have been worried 'ya hurt yerself hittin' me." He waved a claw dismissively and picked out one more lump of soil from his wrist before he started through the grass so she could follow him. "My name's Frenzy."

Aryll blinked. Well... obviously their upbringings had been quite different. Putting down her extended paw, feeling a bit foolish, she stood on all fours and hurried a bit to catch up with Frenzy

Once beside him, she turned her head in his direction. After all, it was rude not to address someone to their face. Especially someone whose help you want. "Well, it's lovely to meet you, Mr.Frenzy. And... you needn't worry about my health." The delicate green Pygmy smiled sheepishly. "My family used to always say I had a hard head."

"Well, 'ya can tell 'em that 'ya met someone who's got an even harder head." Frenzy grinned again. "Jus' Frenzy." He stretched his joints a little as he walked, pausing briefly to check his navigation systems to be certain he was headed the right way before he continued on. "Does everybody in yer family have wings like yers?" Frenzy asked, looking over her wings curiously. Just like the butterflies he loved and hated equally, the bright colors almost made him giddy with their shininess.

Aryll chuckled softly. This Frenzy fellow... he was funny! "Well, if you insist, then I shall tell them that!" she said happily. Her situation had taken a most welcome turn from where it had started in this accursed plain! As she smiled to herself at this, she turned back towards Frenzy. "Hm? Well, no, not everyone. I inherited them from my father's side of the family, and I do believe that no one on my mother's side has these sort of wings." She twitched her wings absent-mindedly as she thought about it, the light they reflected slowly beating up and down, up and down. "What of your family? Do you all take to wearing suits of armor?"
