Hello, Hello, Hello. Welcome to this beloved guild. I was once Vice-Captain Noftin, and I wish to be one of the first that you meet, whether you are just looking around, or you are new and want to know what you should do. This thread should either have the information that you seek, or have the link to it. Remember, we are all here to help you, and are willing to be your friends. Do not hesitate to ask any questions, either in the designated thread, or by sending me, or anyone else in the crew, a PM.

Sincerely,
-Noftin

RP Information

This is here to clear up a bunch of misunderstanding about the RPs, and things related to them.

NOTES:
*All RPs are set in the same world, even though they don't have to be set in the same country, or continent for that matter. It's just plain hard for people to travel to different worlds when they only have the technology of their medieval age. (I tried it once. It was an epic failure.)

*Though it may be a bit hard for some people, or the mood of the RP doesn't make it feel right, most people like to have more than one line of what a character does. If all a character does is just comment on something someone said, it doesn't give anyone really anything to go off and reply back to, keeping their characters stuck. Writer's block is understandable, but don't make it a habit.

*Timelines for when different RPs are set are sometimes confusing and obscure. So, when in doubt, try to treat every RP as if it is happening AFTER an RP that has already been finished. So, if your character met another character in the first RP, in the second, you undoubtedly know them, unless your character has amnesia. Two RPs that are both currently going, however, may be a bit hard to guess, so just do your best with that.

*If the term 'literacy' confuses you, use that link to go off and see some examples of what is, and what is not, considered literate.

How to Start an RP

One of the greatest joys in role playing is the feeling of being in charge; of showing other people an adventure they may never have thought of before and that they may never have experienced otherwise.

But, on the flipside, you must make sure that it is clear what the RP is about, and where it is set. Nothing annoys RPers more than an RP where nothing is explained, and they are asked to just follow along with no idea as to what their goal is.

So, to prevent this confusion, I would suggest you follow these steps. Fewer mistakes, and more fun for all!

1) Get an RP idea that you think would be fun, and put it into words.

1.5) (Optional) Send the idea, via Private message, to either Drayal, or any of the vice-captains (that includes me), for approval, and helpful suggestions if you want them.

2) Create a new topic on the main page, and put down the summary of what has been happening, and what is supposed to happen. (Not the whole plot, mind you, just telling people what their goals are.)

3) Put down the setting, either in the first post or the second, stating where the beginning of the RP takes place. That way, you eliminate confusion on where you are located.

4) Post any additional rules if you want to, a post for character profiles if you feel so inclined, or a map of the area if you need one. Not necessary, but for some RPs, it is really helpful.

5) Create a post where your character enters the scene, allowing people a reference of who to meet; things that are there; etc.

6) Sit back and wait for people to come join if they like it. Then let the RP commence!!!

NOTE:

*We are trying to only allowing you to have two[2] RPs at a time. That way, everyone can participate in RPs, and everyone can run RPs, without only one person running the RPs, and everyone else only being able to participate. (So if a person stops logging on, not all of the RPs will have to halt because they weren't all run by the same person) If you would like to start a third RP that is going on at the same time as two others RPs you have created, please PM Drayal or a Vice-Captain(And that includes me) for permission. I'm sure we'll give it, but better safe than sorry.

How to Join an RP

Joining an RP is generally easier to do then creating one, unless it is an RP where everyone is suspicious of newcommers. But, you can always find a way.

To Join an RP, just do the following steps:

1) Bring a character into the Barracks, filling out all of the information.

2) You should read up on the first page of the RP, since that gives you the key points of the RP, as well as background information.

3a) If it is a longer RP, read up on the last three pages of the RP, so you know where the characters are located, and what is happening.

3b) If it is a newer RP and shorter, you can just read up on all of the posts in the entire RP, that way you know EVERYTHING that has happened.

4) Contact the creator of the RP with your character profile, if that is what they want you to do.

5)Write a post in which you have your character come out and meet the group. It could be a traveller walking down the street, stopping to talk with the others. It could be that they read a recruitment notice for the group, and followed up on it. Please, don't make it cheesy, with some sort of over-the-top reason, but don't make it something flimsy.

How to Create a Character

Everyone must have someone that represents them in an RP, a character to go off and join in the adventure.

To make a character is a fairly easy, and hopefully painless task. You just need to use the following steps:

1) Enter into the Barracks sub-forum, and select the Layout thread. Copy down one of the different layout forms.

2) Go to the New Recruits Barracks, and paste character skeleton into a new post.

3) Fill out all of the information. ALL of it. Even if your character is some unknown race, make sure you make that clear, by putting 'Race: Unknown', or by simply putting a few question marks. If they don't remember their past, put that down. DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING BLANK.

4) You may want to find a picture for your character's appearence, or make one from tektek. This is optional, but some people like the visual aid.

5) You can add more areas in the character information if you would like, but make sure they are appropriate.

6) Submit your new post, and now you have a new character that can now enter into RPs.

7) If you are fairly active, we will create a character barracks for you, a personal place for all of your characters to be posted. But, if you want to, you can create one yourself. This is up to you.

The Crew

Every guild has its beloved Crew, the people who try and make sure that everything runs smoothly, and is fun for everyone. So here they are, the beloved Crew! ((Crew, you are free to edit your About section. I would greatly suggest you do it.))

Capatin: Drayal
aaaA little about him: He is the head honcho of the guild, always was, and still is (and if he can have his way, always will be). He is in charge of everything, and loves to RP. And don't worry, no matter how much we are annoyed by him, the revolution won't come just yet.

Vice Captains:
broken_spirit_chaos
aaaA little about him: The beloved Chaos. He has his own guild to go off and run, but he still finds some time to come over here and enter into a few RPs, as well as run one of his own. It has also been said he can recognize a good idea when he sees it.

1deejay
aaaA little about him: He is a theatre nut, being in plays left and right. And musicals, you can't forget the musicals. He is a very funny person.

Noftin
aaaA little about him: If I were you, I would steer clear of this guy. He is a random loony, and is known to come up with the weirdest of ideas. If he follows you home, under no circumstances are you to let him stay.

THE CREW

Darkestmoonbird
aaaA bit about her: There are some things which you should not mention around Darkest: Her real name, and her height. She is a bit touchy about both, and she already has plans to throw me off the Empire State Building because I've mentioned them both. She is a pretty kind person when you get to know her, just remember, stay away from those two subjects.

Galythia
aaaA bit about her: A kind and gentle person. Really, she is. Loves to draw and read manga, and loves to RP. She is a good friend to anyone who needs a friend. She doesn't bite (but, maybe she nibbles a bit). She sings and plays violin, flute, cello, and piano. The most important thing anyone needs to know about her is that she really is a freak about spelling (and a bit of grammar); she seems nice and all until you misplace a comma, and then it's out to the arena for you! (Just look at what she did to this thread! She even sent a PM to Noftin about it.)

Dasmittel
aaaA bit about him: It's all his fault that I've been wound up in this place.

Xena the Sorceress
aaaA bit about her: A newer member of the Crew. She likes video games, vampires, and ninjas.

Sub-Forum Rundown

A nice little thing that just talks about each of the individual sub-forums, and their specific purpose(s).

Main Thread: This will be where all the main announcments are shown, as well as the many wonderful RPs.

Throne Room: The Crew's place, where they work their mysterious mojo and make their secret and hidden plans. MUAH HA HA HAAAA!!!!!

The Story Hall: A place for people to gather around and share their stories and tales of bravery and woe.

The Tavern: A chat thread, where you can talk about whatever suits your fancy at the time.

The Forum: This is a place where you have specific thread, each one about a certain topic, and where you are only supposed to discuss that topic.

The Marketplace: Have any goods you need to sell? Have a skill that you think people will pay good money for? Try your luck here.

The Fairgounds: A place of joy and excitement. Where all contests and giveaways will be held.

The Necromancer's Lair: A place of dark magics. Threads that are considered dead will be put to rest here until the owner comes back, and decides whether they would like it deleted, or if they would like it to be saved.

Hall of History: Many a great adventure have ended, and the records of their journey will rest here, waiting for those to come back and review the past.

The Barracks: A building where all of the characters are to dwell. Each person will recieve their own wing of the barracks, if they prove they are worthy of it.

Smaller Adventures: Not all journeys are grand affairs, some are just simple tales with fewer numbers, but not necessarily much less effective in shaping the world.

The Grand Library: Here are stored tomes of ancient artifacts, evil entities, and the explanation of many of the very laws that govern this world.
