I can park really strait and that's about it.

my dad took me to an empty parking lot where i COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME TURN WITHOUT HITTING AN IMAGINARY CAR. my dad told me to imagine the parkinglot full, but aparently, i wasn't doing a good job because i must've hit at least 20 imaginary cars. i also ran up on an actual wheelstop when parking when i went a little too far.

my biggest problem is that i'm 5' 2". i can't see about half of the front of my dad's truck. and that's with the seat all the way up, and all the way foward. not only that, but i have proportionately long legs, long arms, and a stort torso. I REALLY can't see. In a passenger seat, i usually can't see past the windshield wipers (depends on the vehicle and my posture, but sometimes i'll be sitting strait and still won't be able to see.) my mom's mazda is just as bad because her car sits so low.

CARS WERE NOT MADE FOR SHORT PEOPLE!!!

Umm... You'd probably need to see what can be done about getting a shorter car. I have the same problem in trucks, and my proportions sound about like yours aside from the fact that I'm 5 inches taller than you. I just can't see over the hood! And the fact that they're so stinking long.

Everything after that should fall into place.

Put a big pillow on the car seat of the mezda.

Go for a more compact car. Not necessarily shorter. I'm 5'7" and I can't see past a Ford Explorer's hood. I hate parking. neutral

a girl i know that's shorter than me does this. she says she uses 2. she drives a compact, so should i use just one since i'm taller than her? or would the bigger car warrant the same ammount?

I wouldn't pratice driving in the truck first of all. Eventualy when you feel confident with the Mazda, then I would go for the truck. But what you do before you start the car is ajust everything to make you feel comfortable. A lot of people forget that the driver needs to feel comfortable when driving because they are in control of a huge hunk of metal going at 65 MPH. When you get everthing to your liking then you can drive ^_^.

As for parking, it takes pratice. What I sugest, and actualy helps me when parking, is look at the lines of the parking space, and tell yourself: "I want the car to go there...in between the lines..." You eventaly will get the hang of it and be able to know when to turn at the apropreate angle.

Also when you are parking, you want to go slow into the space. You want to use the break and edge the car forward very slowly, and aproximate how much space is between the car and the wheelstop. Be careful because most cars will scrape it before the wheels reash the wheelstop. It's not nessasary to have them touching the stop, but just mak sure you are not sticking out of the space ^_^

It's all about thinking ahead and knowing what you want the car to do. It's actualy easy when you get the hang of it, and then you can do anything. I've been driving for almost 6 years and have just gotten over a BIG fear of parallel parking ^_^ Turns out I didn't need to worry about anything xD

Good luck!!!

i always adjust the mirrors before i start. my mom complains because she has to move them back everytime. ^^ and I've had more pratice, and i seem to be getting beter at it! i can still park really well too! I'm learning in my mom's mazda, but most likely, i'll have to drive my dad's truck when it rains (i have a motor scooter that i drive really well for the rest of the time) so eventually i'll have to learn how to drive the truck. (a 2006 dodge dakota. the mazda is a 2001 mazda 626.)

I say if you can start with the easy, go with that at start, when you feel you control the mazda, go for the dodge.

I'm rather useless for this one ... I'm 20 and have no clue how to drive ... the most I know how to do is fill the gas tank and turn on the music ... sad huh?
