I was just wondering if anybody has read Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire Novel or anything else by Charlaine Harris and what you thought about her books.

I have read the first four and they seem to be living rather happily on my book shelves. Simply written, but still engaging and she has a rather delightful sence of irony.

Before she got hot with the Southern Vampire stuff, I read a series of mysteries by her about a small-town librarian turned realator. They were ok.

I should add that they didn't impress me enough to inspire me to pick up the Southern Vampire series.

My friend was reading the Southern Vampire series, and she lent the first four or five to me. I really enjoyed them, although I haven't gone looking for them since. I've just been catching up on other books that I have had for a while without getting the chance to read.

I would like the finish reading the series, because I know there are several more that have come out since I read them.

I imagine she's still writing them.

I think she had another mystery series with Shakespeare in each title, but I could be mixing her up with another "cozy" writer.

That could be the Lily Bard Series? I haven't read them, I only know that she wrote that series which has five books in it, and they are all Shakespeare's something.
