Yisi was not known for it’s panoramic views; there were rather too many trees for that but for once, the toughly-made stallion had found one. It was a rocky outcrop, an anomaly in the area to say the least and he was standing on top of it. This spot, he knew, marked the border between land that belonged to all and the Hellene territories.

After his talk with Eira he had come up here a few times when the sun was not hot and just looked and wondered. He had yet to do anything truly constructive about finding out more about the warrior herd but he was certainly pondering it. The best way, in the end, would be to step over the border and have a look but he didn’t want to do that without talking to his mate about it first.

Still, even if being up here wasn’t especially conducive to discovery, it was a very pretty view especially at this time of day. Smiling to himself, the albino sighed out a contented breath and looked out over the vastness of the morning world.

Standing quietly the mare watched the old, she surpressed a giggle, stallion who stood watching the view. No wonder her mother had asked her to follow. He was gonna get himself hurt one day, straying so near the border alone. She didn't hold the same fear for his life as her mother, however. He could take care of himself, if her mother's stories were any indication. Well..the stories she coaxed out of her mother when she was just a foal after her green adopted brother Naveen mentioned the fight her parents had gone through to protect him. No, she worried that he would be wisked away by the herd and they would not listen to his asking to go retrieve his mate, but instead be so engrossed in the idea of having such a strong fighter as soon as possible. SHe shivered, hateing being so close to the border.

Finally she took a step forward, drawing a breath. "Forgot what you were doing, old man?" She called out, her voice the common teasing tone she used with her father. "Mom moved a bit farther away today, found some new food she likes the taste of and wants to stay in that area for a while. Its a bit farther then our old resting spot and if you don't get moving its gonna be dark before we can get there." Her joking mixed with a bit of worry and a slightly, unintentional, condescending tone. She didn't like the thought of her father, blinded by the unforgiving night, stuck way out here, right near the border! No matter if this Hellene herd was a possible friend to her and her siblings kind. A friend to her parents, who were always at risk of persecution for just being together, and hated even more for producing her and her siblings. The fact they were fighters, and even at herd at all, turned her away. She liked family, she liked friends. But rulers she could live without...war she could live without. she snapped herself outta her angry thoughts, turning her attention to her father.

Morthan turned away, physically and mentally, from the view of the lands below and gave his daughter a lopsided smile. “No no, not that senile yet,” he chuckled, flicking a muscular tail at an annoying fly, “just looking at the view and thinking. I’ve finished doing both now though, so we can get a move on to this new place if you like?”

A new place sounded rather nice actually; comfortable though the place they had been based around of late was the white stallion found himself wishing for a change. It was odd; he’d never been interested in change back in his old territory but then... well he’d been rather different back then. When all you really had was a piece of land you had laid claim to it suddenly became very important. When you were surrounded by people you loved and who loved you too, it was nice to see new places from time to time.

“So then,” the pale-eyed stallion gave his tendril-winged daughter another smile, “how are you today?” She looked well, looked happy too but he did like to ask all the same. Sometimes appearances could be deceptive, and when they weren’t it was nice to hear the details of a loved one’s happiness.

She nodded. "Its not far from our old place, but it is a bit harder to get there, unless ya fly but....well Mom said i let you fly there she'd have my hide." She laughed. "such a worry wart, i swear she's older then you sometimes. But, she has a point...There are alot of patches along the route that always have some bright sun, and then of course at night, well, you can't fly without killing yourself. so...we gotta walk." she rolled her eyes and let out an over exaturated sigh. In all honestly she didn't care. In fact she kinda walked to talk to her dad one on one. And he presented the perfect opertunity.

She started to lead the way away from the border line. "I'm alright." she shurgged. Then her eyes turned serious, dead serious, as she looked at her father. "Why do you gaze at their land with such yearning?" she asked, her tone harsher then she ment. "I know you tried to talk Mom into it. Are you really willing to toss away your freedom? Our freedom?" She knew without a fact she'd follow her two love sick parents wherever they went. She felt the need to protect them from the world, even if she was the one who needed more protecting. "...Father...why do you seem to desire that pack of warriors so badly?" She would not call them a herd, or even acknowledge that they were like her family was, in a way. They were monsters worse then that stupid Jala clan.

The albino frowned for a moment at his daughter’s harshness but swiftly pushed his annoyance away and shrugged his wings. “I’m not sure to be honest. I don’t like the idea of being one of them at all in itself and being near to them makes us just about as safe as being within their lands... I suppose it’s just curiosity in the end; I’m a nosey old thing I am, always have been. I was in a sort of a herd briefly when I was a colt but I don’t remember it all that well and I wonder a little what it’s like. From what I know I doubt I’d enjoy a life in any herd really let alone one that might want me, or any of us, to become a fighter for them but I’m still curious.”

It sounded rather silly now he said it out loud, but perhaps being silly was alright. He certainly bloody hoped it was; he did it so much that if it wasn’t alright then he was... Eh, something that wasn’t alright; he couldn’t call the right word to mind, though whether that was because there wasn’t one, because there was one and it was obscure, or because there was one, it was obvious his memory was going blunt on him he wasn’t sure.

“Does it worry all of you that much that much that I wonder about the place?” the pale stallion asked after a moment, turning his attention back to his daughter. “I can stop if it really bothers you, you know, it’s not a big deal to me in the end as I say; just curiosity.” He suspected that at least one of his children shared that curiosity; he’d seen Mortheira’s black and white shape around the border a couple of times. He certainly wouldn’t put it past the girl to be interested in joining them; she was violent enough when provoked, and she really didn’t take very much provoking.

Diara sighed and shook her head. "I do not speak for my siblings. I just....Speak for me and mom and Naveen. We do worry about you...about what would happen if you went exploring and got trapped by the sun, alone. Or if it got dark and they found you, helpless...You've said they were suppose to be pretty kind, in comparison to that Jala herd, but still...a herd of fighters is just dangerous! Just think of what would happen if you went off, curious as you say, and got swept up by these warriors. And then didn't let you come back....Or if we went and you got caught up in a fight...Mom's to young to be a widow." She tried some of her usual humor to lighten things up. SHe hated having a tense talk with her dad.

"Just...Well we'd like if you at got it over with. Take somone with you, me or mom, or one of the others, and go and talk to them....See what they can offer. Mom hates it when you disapper out here to stare off into space and think. She doesn't like knowing somthing might happen and she wouldn't be there...but she doesn't want to bother you and sound like some old maid." She cracked a smile.

Morthan nodded slowly to the young mare’s words. “Yes, that’s probably the best plan... I’ll think about that later though, see who’s willing to come and look with me. I believe they have a border patrol, so we wouldn’t even need to stray into their lands, just wait and talk to the patrol.” Maybe taking one of his clearly crossbred daughters along would be the best idea then; surely the Hellenes wouldn’t attack somebody who looked like one of the people they were used to granting protection to. Yes, provided there was at least one functioning brain in the patrol things should go fine.

She nodded. So long as he wasn't about to lanch a unknown voyage into the lands of them, she could live with that. "Who are you bringing?" She asked, trying to not look impatient. that was te bigger question. Who was he trusthing his life with. She didn't want her mother with him, however much she knew her mother would want to. if somthing wend...badly, she couldnt' lose both beloved parents. So of course, this in mind, she wanted to know who was gonna babysit her mother..

Morthan frowned thoughtfully at that, properly pondering his options seen as the question had been asked. “I think,” he said eventually, “either you or your mother... or perhaps Cassius.” Much as he loved his two other girls he knew very well that neither of them were very diplomatic. Diara, Eira or Cassius then; though he hadn’t though of taking his son immediately due to his very subtle mixed blood he knew he could count on the boy.

“What do you think?” the pale Reya asked after a moment with a tilt of his head to Diara; her opinions were usually worth listening to, and even if he thought whatever she had to say didn’t make sense it was good to have a different opinion to compare your own to.

"Cassius? Yeah, he'd be good too. Though...Well i'd like to come with you. I'd prefer it, in all truth. I don't want mom going. I'm sure you don't either, in case anything happens, you know? Cause we don't know what they are like. And mom...well..." she shrugged, sighing. "She's not that strong, she's not a fighter. Even though i'm not so much a fighter, well, i wanna see this herd myself. I wanna see how they think. though if you'd prefer to have Cassius with you, i can stay back and watch mom, i guess." She really didn't want to stay behind though. But she wouldn't beg her father to take her with him.

The pale-eyed stallion smiled over at his daughter and gave her a nod. “That’s fine by me, I would probably just have spent forever trying to make a choice by myself in any case.” He hadn’t really thought that anything bad might happen on a trip to investigate the warrior herd. Was he incautious, or was the rest of his family paranoid? “When would you like to go then?” the albino went on, pushing his internal question aside; it didn’t matter either way in the end. “Obviously not today,” the curve-horned stallion added, “but any time after that would be fine by me... Once we speak to your mother, of course.”

"Lets talk to mom first and then we'll deside. She'll want a say, i'm sure, considering how much she worries about you." She smiled. That was one thing she liked. How perfectly her parents fit together. Her mother adored her father, her father was just as loving towards her mother.

"You know..." She said after a pause, changing topics to a less tense topic. "Its amazing how much you and mom remind me of some fairy tale." She smiled at her dad. "It makes me wonder how you two could have ever been with someone else. You two are so much in love." She laughed softly.

Morthan grinned at his daughter and nodded again. “It’s wonderful, and still slightly surprising some mornings I must say. I was very cynical about the whole idea of love before I met her, I must say. I hope you find as much happiness with somebody as we have together someday, and as proved by me that doesn’t necessarily have to be any time soon.” He would be very careful, the pale-eyed Nequus decided as he thought about his mate. Even if it didn’t seem dangerous, he would be wary. He didn’t want to leave her all alone, scratch that he wouldn’t leave her all alone. First sign of trouble from those Hellene, people and he’d be leaving as soon as he was sure Diara was by his side.

"I don't know...I doubt I'll find someone." She stretched her wispy wings and glanced up at her horn. "I'm not stupid...I know i'm gonna run into alot of people who hate me just cause of what i am." She smiled lightly at her father. "For you two...well you were lucky. That you both found another who was just as un biased as the other. Even if i found someone who didn't mind being with someone of another breed, or who was ok with crossbreeds...well i'm not getting my hopes up." That she wasn't. She'd be perfectly happy sitting around her parents all day, or wandering alone, or playing with her tiny adopted brother who didn't seem to grow. A small part of her mind kicked the rest of her thoughts. If they went into this land, even just to see what it was about....she might vary well meet another crossbreed, or one who had no problem loving crossbreeds.

And then her mind started to take off, thinking about a future she did not think she would ever have. A mate, as loving and strong as her father was. Kind and sweet and always there for her if she needed him. And children...She stopped, both mentally and physically, closing her eyes. Could she even have children? Could crossbreeds have children? She shook her head away to banish the thought. She would not get her hopes up.

The pale-eyed stallion shook his head and smiled a little sadly at the white-winged mare. “You know,” he said softly, “that was exactly what I thought of myself when I was your age... Still, I understand not wanting to hope too much; disappointment is always bitter.”

His first mate had thought him silly and pessimistic for not wishing to hope too much about things that might well never be; she had tried so hard to get him to be a carefree optimist like she’d been but optimism hadn’t been much help to her on her trip to Casa Tiner. There was a difference between optimism and folly, and by and large Morthan liked to stay well back from the line that separated them. He needed to remember to attach that outlook to this Hellenes thing. Chances were, the best he would be with them was neighbors; he could never bring himself to call another Nequus lord.
