Old in blue, new in red. Okay, this is becoming more developed and more people are interested, so I'll voice my opinions on what I think the JALS should be. A person on the JALS Master List is saying he or she would like to be helpful to other members in time of need. This could be in response to natural disaster or a host of other possible things that could befall a person. Maybe you need to reach out to someone. Many of you might not know a perso over the GGE as well as you do friends you know personally, but in times of crisis, why should that stop us from helping one another? This swine flu thing may have a few worried. Reminds me of a host of other things (the mosquito virus, the anthrax attacks, mad cow disease, the bird flu, etc.) and maybe it's not as big of a deal as some people think, but who's to say?
A member suggested I put a link to the RSOE EDIS, Emergency and Disaster Information Service. See here: http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/ Sounds important, right? Well I don't know, I just got this idea that GGE members (generally those in the core group--the ones that have been members since the Sexiest Gun thread) could form kind of... in real life links to help other GGEs in time of emergency. You know--zombies, aliens, terrorists, JBTs, natural disasters, what have you.
I'm not sure how it would work exactly, knowing we're generally a reclusive bunch that doesn't like to give out much information about ourselves. But I was thinking anyone that wants to be a part could say so and I'll add your name to the master list located below this. Then, anyone on the list can be contacted via private message or emial (no information sharing here, please, for the interest of safety) about said help in time of danger.
What information? I don't know--it could be limited to a phone number to be used in case of said emergency when help would be needed and more information could be given. Or a full address--it would depend on the person.
Generally you would want to link with people in your state or ones nearby, but there's no reason not to speak with others across the country.
Now if this kind of thing isn't wanted in the GGE, feel free to have it deleted. If it seems like I'm some kind of undercover government agent trying to stockpile you guys' identities for top secret raids, well... you'll just have to take my word for it that I'm not. That's another reason why rather than a master database of information I'm suggesting links between individuals so it's more of a web-like link than a list.
I just thought a thing like this could help various members of the guild and possible bring it closer together.
Earlier I said this mainly applies to core members, but that's only because the core members know each other a lot better than two people that just joined a week ago or something. For instance I trust Freak and Sierra and Rommel and others, but not... well I can't think of any new members I don't know well because I don't know them well...
Blah, this is going too long. Tell me what you think and suggest ways to make this idea better.
Thought about brigning this back to the top after the election results.
Okay, are we all learning the language of the writing on the wall? Can we all comprehend that the s**t is about to hit the fan? See post 2 for the map. See post 3 for the list. Who's interested?

GGE Map. All number locators are put in the middle of the states and don't signify where in the state a member lives. (If you want to be removed from the map, tell me and I'll do so. If you want to be added to the map, don't hesitate to say so.) 1 - ArmasTermin 2 - Freak_090 3 - Fresnel 4 - Shadow Deadeye 5 - Battlefield Reaper 6 - Lord Plate 7 - EmpressMotoko 8 - Crash Maniac 9 - uryu ishida 10 - OberFeldwebel 11 - Maelthra Reloaded 12 - boogiemonster 13 - Requiem6661 14 - exploding-waffles 15 - Rommel Desert Fox 16 - Stoic Socialist 17 - Shadow Over Chernobyl This is just so we see where we are. Being on this list doesn't make you part of the GGE Link, that list is in the post below.

The Official GGE J.A.L.S. Master List
People on this list may be freely contacted for information trading requests via PM. They are fully able to decline requests in the even that, hell, they don't feel like giving you the information. I would venture to say it's proper etiquette to volunteer one's own information first when requesting a link.

Last I checked the members are all over the place, hardly anyone lives near another. As for me, I don't think anyone else in here is from Minnesota.
But I suppose if it was made necessary to leave your state of origin and all move to one it would come in handy I guess. :/

I live fairly (for Texas) close to Freak. But until I'm out on my own, I'm unable to give out information.

Boogie, Armas, Sierra, and I live fairly close to each other (state wise). We've got Crash or Frenel (not sure) all the way out in Kalifornia, Ober way up north, and plate all the way in Maryland. This better be one hell of an idea, because it would take a while for everyone to meet up.

Well yeah, the odds of this being used are pretty slim, I just thought it would be useful if it were ever needed. And it's not really about everyone meeting somewhere but about a single member using another single member as a sort of resource or contact when forced from their current residence.

So like... no one is at all interested in this? Guild members helping guild members in time of emergency?
I mean, I kind of thought it was a good idea. Maybe under-developed but a decent starting point?
Is no one interested because you don't want to give out information? Or because we live far away from each other? If it's the latter, that's kind of the point. Because the aid would be in affect if someone was dislocated from their current area toward another area.
