This guild, as many of you know, was formed as a gathering place for those of us that love satire. However, some of us (*cough*me*cough*) have gotten somewhat out of hand about the whole deal. This has led to something of a "Zero-Tolerance" policy. Of course this will never stop me.

I stated from the beginning that I wished to improve debate in the Extended Discussion and I have allowed myself to be sucked into it's "We are the Pompous Brother of the Chatterbox" nature. For that I find myself in a precarious position, enjoying my time but rather disgusted at myself.

The recent "Spam Only" ruling in the ED has rekindled my passion for seeking out true Extended Discussion. From now on I will release true satire, not "ED Satire," every other week or so. My goal here is to improve the ED, as I do believe there is more room for intelligent debate here than in most other fora or sites on the wondrous INTARWEBLOL.

I am stickying this because I am asking all of you to join me. We have certainly had our share of laughs, and I say we should most certainly continue them, but perhaps we should stick closer to our mission statement. Let us prove that Extended Discussion can be just that rather than the mass of mindless prattling that it is.

Mayhaps and official dislaimer to be used at the very bottom of the post?

Or, we could present some as if they were actual quotes from the side we were satirizing. Then it can't really turn into a flamefest and it will still be obvious to those that understand satire.

And I do think we must make sure to make our satires of the highest quality now that the ED-E has been disbanded. These two ideas should certainly help.

I don't have faith in my ability to write satire, but I will join forces and post in every one of your threads I find.

But let's remember that while we were inspired by satire, we are driven by the urge to improve literacy. Let us not lose sight of this.

Not a few hours ago I wrote a satirical post in an ED thread. I left it there and went to pursue other business. Just now I got a PM of someone asking if I was being sarcastic/satirical. I told him that, yes, I was being facetious, and went to see how many others had taken me seriously. Most of those who had responded took me literally, and one or two were questioning.
