O.k. I personally have insomnia along with many other issues. Its hard to sleep sometimes and sometime we just need help or suggestions. Post here any suggestions you have, when I feel better I think I'll put up a list of some of the best suggestions... after I manage some sleep. (I think this could really be helpful to some people so if you have any ideas post them!) Also just because something doesnt help you doesnt mean its a bogus tip. everything is different for everyone (i should know that best) My suggestions- I drink tea (caffeine free) stuff with chamomile or other herbs that calm/relax are best. I listen to music when I sleep (silence makes me go crazy and makes it harder to sleep) some people prefer classical but what I use tends to vary widely. Other suggestions!- (will add later) Useful sites- (remember not everything will help!) http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/howto.html

I can offer no help, but I will read the advice people give you, since I often can't sleep.

Umm... *Thinks* Sometimes it helps to not think about something you're excited or nervous about (Hint hint). It makes you too excited or nervous to sleep. Try doing something that makes you feel tired. Some people read (But that probably won't help you xp ) or listen to music (Although, I wouldn't suggest fast paced up-beat music, as that might make it worse). For me it helps if it's really dark and really quiet... That's all I got for now... I'll try to help more if I can think of more...

As for suggestions, I'm afraid I really can't make any in addition to what you guys have already mentioned. I've had insomnia for many, many years now, and the only thing that has helped recently is a medication my doctor prescribed to me. The funny part about it is that the medication was actually for something else but wound up doing the trick for the insomnia after several other medications failed that were intended for sleeping problems. Go figure!

If I can't sleep, I write down everything that's on my mind, without rereading it. It means you know it's there, and don't have to think about it any more, as it's not hammering for attention.
Don't go on the computer in the hour before you go to bed, gives you eyestrain, and your eyes struggle tro relax enough to let you sleep.
Meditation can help some people, though personally it doesn't.
Don't take offense at this (white writing): Masturbation is a great cure for insomnia. Slow, not fast; it relaxes you totally. And or wears you out. Even if you don't reach orgasm, it can really help (Personally have never orgasmed.)
