Since the memories of the World of Blood first appeared, flickering glimpses of Graywolf Darkheart have been witnessed. Since then he has become more than a legend in this world. He is a religion, split between the believers who worship him like a god, and the unbelievers who tout that he betrayed his friends and sent the World of Blood even further into decay. This shrine, high in the Yukiyama Mountains is living testament to this debate, created to honor Graywolf by those who felt he deserved praise. A tall statue of Graywolf stands in the center of this clearing, surrounded by fleeting glimpses of his exploits in the World of Blood. these ghostly images are no more than memories, shattered remains of what came from that soulless planet, doomed to play over and over through eternity for the eyes of whoever passes by.

However, this once hallowed place has been corrupted as time passed. The statue of Graywolf seems to have changed from looking out regally upon the mountain to displaying a malicious, possibly sadistic grin. There are rumors that at night the statue's eyes glow red and the memories of Graywolf turn to stare at any who pass by, sometimes grinning malevolently, cackling evilly, or even panting with blood lust. Since, this place has rarely been visited except by those who do not know of the horrors that make themselves known when the sun falls over the horizon.

Felix dropped slowly, flapping down toward the ground rather than diving quickly as he preferred to when he flew. He tried to let Karin down gently, but was a bit quick in his attempt to return his feet to the ground. He was loathe to admit it even to himself, but the strain of carrying someone else after so long had left him tired.

"So this is it," he managed, mostly without having to gasp for breath, "This is Graywolf Darkheart's shrine."

Karin picked herself up, recovering quickly from the landing.

"Wow, it's so desolate." she wondered at the dark statue and surroundings.

"Thanks so much for flying," she grinned, "I didn't know you could fly! That was amazing!"

"It was quite a ways too, are you alright?" she asked.

"Yes, of course," he answered, "you're not the first person I've flown with."

He looked around at the familiar sights. The statue was still there, and he could feel a chill running down his already-cold spine as he stared at it. The images playing out on either side of the grinning visage were the same too, playing his feats without end. Only one thing was different. The statue had moved. He was sure of it! It hadn't been leaning forward like that the last time he was here, and hadn't his right hand been raised over his head?

He looked to Karin, and decided not to mention it to her. It probably wasn't important anyway. "This place was probably abandoned too. It apparently used to be a shrine worshiping this man." He motioned to the statue, being sure not to look at it this time, "he was apparently some hero from the World of Blood, but I've heard many call him a traitor as well. I don't think he ever knew a wizard, though..."

Karin grinned and turned back to the creepy looking statue. Why would someone build something like this a tribute to a hero? Why build it at all if it was supposed to look so sinister?

"Well Mr. Locke should be around here somewhere." Karin said stepping by the statue heading up toward the 'temple' jutting into the mountain, more like an ingrown toenail though. It didn't look too friendly.

"Let's check in here in any case." Karin wondered. "You've been here before? Had you seen anyone then?"

"No one aside from him," Felix replied, motioning to the statue again as he followed Karin to the temple entrance. Was it just him or did the sky seem to darken as he walked up those steps? It certainly looked dark inside.

"I don't know why he would want to come here to be safe, though," he muttered.

"Maybe..." Karin frowned, "It only looks creepy but secretly it's totally harmless and safe?" she giggled to herself, at least that was the best case scenario.

Stepping past the dark threshold she peered in and tentatively took a few steps inward. It was colder inside than it was outside.

"Hello? Mr. Locke?! Is anyone there?" Karin called into the dark, there was a slight echo and she grinned.

"Hello in dizzy-land!"

The words echoed back louder with the volume of her voice, but the sound was mangled and twisted. She giggled slightly to ease the slight crawl of her skin.

It was just the echo. Just meant there were a lot of rooms back there, and possibly other hallways.

Felix shook off the continuing shivers down his spine. He shouldn't be scared, he couldn't be scared! He brushed past Karin, taking a few more steps inside, then looking around himself.

Although it was dark, his vampiric eyes adjusted easily to the blackness. The hall itself was lavish, looked to be made from stone but shone like marble. The walls were etched with representations of Graywolf and various related objects. Every few feet was an indentation holding a closed urn. Most of these urns held a door next to them. From what Felix could see where he was standing, though, it appeared to be simply more wide open, lavish space. Probably decorated with more worshipful images of their hero.

"It's a little sickening," he finally spoke, "despite everything he was still only a man, wasn't he?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 10, 2008 9:43 pm

"Yes," Karin agreed studying one of the urns, and fighting the urge to pick on up and open it. It was probably only full of ashes anyway... but she was so gosh darned curious.

"I wonder what the official story is - what he did, how there's controversy over it." she said thinking aloud, still staring at the row of urns. If she was to open one would she pick the blue/gray one with the leaf or the one with the engraved symbols?

"There had to have been people that knew him and stood alongside him whenever he accomplished his feat." Karin wondered, eyes finally locking on one with a funny looking panda face on it - that was totally un-threatening right? "What do you know about it? Have you heard the stories?"

"I've heard stories, yes," he watched her bemusedly as her eyes flickered from urn to urn. At least it took his mind off the creepiness. "From what I understand he was the right hand of Princess Raine, the last of the royal family on the World of Blood. He swore to always protect her. He also fought with his father who wanted to destroy that world. But I have also heard that he was corrupted by the power the curse had and that he turned on his own friends, even trying to kill the princess he had sworn his life to. I don't know what is true and what isn't."

Now that he thought of it, hadn't Windy said... "There was one girl who was there before the World of blood disappeared," he continued, "but she said she never met Graywolf. Still, she might know more than me."

Karin started slightly, looking up from the urns. "You met her? Is she here, or at the pit?"

Ah but then she shouldn't get curious, if the girl knew anything Felix, if he had met her, would know, and then he would have told her when she asked.

Felix nodded, "I've met her, but I didn't travel with her for long. From what I understand she is at that pit, though."

He had started looking at the urns himself now. What were the purpose of them? They didn't seem to have anything to do with Graywolf. Were they the remnants of those who used to live here? He shuddered. Why anyone would want their ashes left in this place was beyond him.

Karin nodded her head. Too bad she was at 'that place', maybe she could meet her later.

She fidgeted slightly, it was just too tempting - what were these even for? Why would they be out in the open unless they expected someone to pick one up?!

She couldn't stand it anymore. She reached out to the one with the panda face and lifting the urn with one hand, holding it against her chest to balance the weight, she lifted the lid.

((What's inside?))

Everything seemed to get quieter as Karin lifted the lid. Even Felix had stopped moving, caught between stopping her or just watching in anticipating silence. It was too late. She had already lifted the lid.

He tensed up, watching the lid lift from the jar. He waited and... nothing? The inside was dark. Too dark for even him to see inside of. That seemed suspicious enough but...

What was that? It sounded like some metal plate rattling across the floor. He looked to Karin, wondering if she had heard it too. But his eyes were drawn back to the urn. He could see inside of it now. there was a stream of what looked like some black liquid streaming from the urn and down along the floor into on of the large rooms off the hallway. He looked back up to Karin, trying to convey his concern.
