I really wish Nintendo made a remake or released it on Virtual Console. No Ganondorf, No Majora, No Vaati, in Link's Awakening he must confront his own dreams and wake up.
I'll summarize it for you guys
Link gets caught in a very bad storm out at sea, and a lightning bolt strikes his ship. He wakes up in a village on a massive island. He has been rescued by Marin, a local girl whose face looks almost exactly like Zelda's. Link has crashed onto Koholint Island. He is led by a mysterious owl to find the 8 Sirens, musical instruments. The Wind Fish sleeps in an egg atop a high mountain, and Link cannot leave the island until the Wind Fish wakes. The Wind Fish will only awake to the 8 Sirens and the Ocarina of the Dream Shrine playing the Ballad of the Wind Fish. To leave the island and return home, Link must awaken the Wind Fish. But halfway through the game, he sees the truth.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!
Probably the absolute most amazing spoiler moment in Zelda history (my opinion) was when Link discovered the truth of Koholint Island: TO THE FINDER...THE ISLE OF KOHOLINT, IS BUT AN ILLUSION... HUMAN, MONSTER, SEA, SKY... A SCENE ON THE LID OF A SLEEPER'S EYE... AWAKE THE DREAMER, AND KOHOLINT WILL VANISH MUCH LIKE A BUBBLE ON A NEEDLE... CAST-AWAY, YOU SHOULD KNOW THE TRUTH!
Koholint is a dream Link is having...or is it? He must decide whether or not to believe this. Because if it's true, the only way to return home is to erase everyone on the island from existence. Marin and everyone.....are they really all a dream? They will fade away when the Wind Fish wakes.
Link opens the Egg of the Wind Fish to find...a dark shadow referring to themselves as the Nightmares. This is my favorite boss fight, because the Nightmares shapeshift into all the famous big boss fights from the first three Zelda games (The first two NES ones and Link to the Past). Ganon, Agahnim, the works.
"We were born of nightmares... To take over this world, we made the Wind Fish sleep endlessly! If the Wind Fish doesn't wake up, this island will never disappear! We would have been the masters of this place... But you had to come here and disrupt our plans! Heh heh! You can never defeat us!!! Let's rumble!
However, I refuse to spoil the ending for you. But it's truly epic and keeps you thinking. Just be sure to watch the credits through to the end.
Bottom line, the game has my favorite Zelda plot and is fun, because it's gameplay is just like Oracle of Ages and Seasons. If you find it, check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Yeah, this is a LA discussion thread. Aaaaand....go.

I think it only really gets to be something to worry about in the last two dungeons and maybe the final boss fight. But man, the 7th (2nd to last dungeon) Eagle's Tower, I think.....my god, that was a hard and confusing level. Remember City in the Sky from TP and Stone Tower from MM? That's nothing. Eagle's Tower just made me go "OMFG, not even gamefaqs.com helps with this." But other than that, the game's difficulty is fair.
Most of the game, 1-10 (1 being avoiding the moon crash through time travel in MM, 10 being......go through any whole Zelda game without ever taking damage), I would rate Link's Awakening at 5 or 6, and Eagle's Tower at 9, or 8.5 for the few and the proud.

It's harder to find these days, especially since Gamestop is about to stop selling Gameboy and GB Color games.
(Uh-oh, I just realized I can't find my LA game. eek )

If I ever run across it at a used game place I'll be sure to try to pick it up...they probably don't sell GBC games for over $10....

LOL. I loved that game. Especially because when you have the DX version, it takes pictures of you. HEHE I like the pic when you steal from the guy behind the counter in the village. HE is like a wizard or something because when you come back he zaps you to death. burning_eyes
