Professor Amia Arashi Transfiguration
These are the words burned into the metal plate on the door of this room. Pushing the door open, you enter something of a tranquility garden. Due to Professor Arashi's partial Japanese upbringing, the room is decorated in a way to mimic the setup of a Japanese garden. There is a running fountain in a corner, full of brightly-colored koi fish swimming all around. The floor is a plush grass, full of small flowers. The grass is very real, so it is odd how something can be so full of life growing in a castle. The windows are untinted and are closed. This allows sunlight to penetrate through on sunny days, but keeps the windyness of England outside. The warmness of the room is due to a climate control spell, which is much needed. A gentle breeze blows once in a while, causing a few of the windchimes to blow. Towards another corner of the room sits a small wooden box, a stucture made of dark wood and flat in height. Presumably, this is Professor Arashi's desk. From the desk to the door, a dirt path winds. At the door is a small wooden stand. Since it is inappropriate and a show of lack of respect if not done, shoes must be taken off before entering the room and placed into the rack.

Quote: Transfiguration Assignment #1 Eloise Mason Seventh Year Gryffindor
In this class I hope to accomplish only a few simple things. I would like to have a better grasp on transfiguration, how it works, what it is, and the tricks on how to use it. Though, using my wand in general my help me grasp Transfiguration better. I would like to learn how to use magic with a wand easier, and learn more spells.

Transfiguration is a difficult subject, also many times unruly. . Transfiguration is also used to confuse and to convince people one thing is something else, for it is a manipulative subject and is darker than most might believe it to be. However, I don’t have a good grasp on the subject and hope to improve tenfold (or at least twofold) at my wandwork. I am horrid at focusing and am easily distracted, and Transfiguration requires much concentration, so I believe it’s the perfect class to begin. The subject intrigues me and I like a challenge.

Quote: Transfiguration Homework #1 Angelica Ellsworth Seventh Year Slytherin In this class, I will master the various techniques for Transfiguring both animate and inanimate objects. I have chosen to take this class because the subject matter intrigues me; the thought of changing one thing to another is incredibly useful, and not to mention entertaining if used in the right way.
The last line is scratched out--Angelica decided it seemed too obvious that she could use this magic for troublemaking. It is replaced with the following:
and something that I am quite interested in learning, not only to further my studies, but for practical, every day magic.
((Yes, so, the part in italics was an attempt at humor, and a little bit of characterization. If it's inappropriate, please let me know and I'll change it. =]))

Transfiguration, even in modern terms, is still one of the more interesting subjects and maybe the most unique to wrap one's head around. Turning one object into another object entirely? Even by wizarding standards; very cool. Not to mention useful. A subject requiring an open mind and hard work; both of which I could use a little practice in. It might not be considered a self-improving class, but maybe I can use it as such. Along with it's main study, of course.

I was a bit dismayed that you held such a negative opinion of the subject though.

Transfiguration is a difficult practice to learn, let alone master. Even some of the greatest wizards can not say that they mastered transfiguration. Nonetheless, this is gives me an insight as to why you are taking this subject, though do be careful on what, or whom, you use transfiguration.

This assignment came me a look at your thoughts toward transfiguration, but I would prefer that you use more complete sentences in future assignments.

Transfiguration Homework #1 Sezer Philips Seventh Year Ravenclaw
Transfiguration, by any standard, is one of the most useful things one can do with their wand. Transfiguring boggarts into daises, or even rocks into chairs, are terribly useful skills not only around the house, but out in the world, as well. I hope to finish off my years at Hogwarts with a bang - not literally, of course - by knowing as much about the complicated art of Transfiguration as Wizardly possible. As for why I chose Transfiguration, well, the answer is really very simple - it's useful. Not only is it brilliant and wondrous, but it is quite practical and reliable. Transfiguration, in short, is amazing.

However, please note that this essay is more opinion-based and using so much opinion is discouraged with essays that are more factual. Also, please be sure to keep your thoughts cohesive, as they seemed to be a bit disjoint.
