WELCOME TO TRANSFIGURATION
FOURTH/FIFTH YEAR CLASSROOM

The Transfiguration classroom is a large room, about the size of a large classroom, though possibly a bit larger. It is built to accommadate forty students at one time, though rarely needs to do so. The room is sparsely decorated, as the point of the room isn't to draw students in for decorations, but rather for the learning. On the board are the written instuctions for the day. Students are expected to be on time to have all their assignments completed. Professor Arashi is strict with discipline, so be warned.

RULES

1) Follow all gaia TOS and all guild rules.
2) Behave in class.
3) Homework may or may not be assigned. Post it in my office. Do not post it to this thread, as the thread will get too crowded.

Professor Arashi walked into the classroom. It was unusually empty, or maybe it was simply early. Whatever the case, she decided to take advantage of the situation.
She placed her bag under her desk and began to write on the board.

On the board, Professor Arashi
Welcome to Transfiguration.
Since you have already mastered the art of changing inanimate objects to other inanimate objects, today you shall start with turning animate objects into inanimate objects.
Fourth Years: I would like you to go to the antfarm on my desk, pick up an ant and carefully take it to your desks, without losing nor crushing your ant. If you crush/lose it, you will receive only one other ant, but with a penalty on your grade for this lesson. After that, you will not receive another ant. Your task is to transfigure it into a bead. You may transform it into any kind of bead you want, as long as this bead does not have any ant parts.
Fifth Years: Your task today is similar, but you will be working with more complex objects. You must do the same thing, but with cats and you must transform the cats into books. You will each receive one cat. Since it is not easy to lose a cat, you will not receive another. The book that you change the cat into is of your choice. Bonus points will be awarded if the book is recognizable and/or has writing on the inside.

Once she finished writing, Professor Arashi sat down at her desk and began to leaf through the textbook, just to be sure that her lesson plans worked with it.

Makala strode into the classroom with her usual I'm-better-than-you air, but it instantly dropped as she observed she was the first in the classroom, besides Professor Arashi herself. She picked a random desk in the middle of the classroom, nearer to the front than the back, and set her copy of Intermediate Transfiguration down. Before sitting, she read what was written on the board and wrinkled her nose in slight disgust. She'd actually have to touch an ant?! How ridiculous can this woman be? the fourth year asked herself as she slowly walked up to the ant farm she spotted on the desk.

Hesitating, Makala slowly reached down to pick up one of the ants and carried it to her desk, dropping it onto the surface as quickly as possible. I'll have to wash my hands for hours when this is over, she thought, her nose wrinkling slightly once more. The ant was trying to crawl its way off the desk, and Makala quickly put her hand down to stop it. It simply turned and headed toward the other end. Quickly she pulled out her wand and pointed it at the small ant, muttering what she hoped was the correct incantation, her mind having lost a bit of the information she'd learned back in third year.

The ant stopped briefly, but continued on, unchanged. She put her hand down once more as it reached the other end of the desk, forcing it to turn once more. Once again, she pointed her wand at the ant and tried to transfigure it into a bead. Exhaling in frustration when the ant was once more unchanged, she glanced around to discover she was still the only student present, giving her the spotlight should Professor Arashi look up from the textbook she was leafing through.
