Band training is a form of Strength Training.
The difference is that instead of weights you use a piece of elastic band.

You can also get creative, you can position the band in a number of ways to work every muscle you have. You can also increase or decrease the resistance that it provides.
When I was in basic I didn't sweat much during PT sessions.
With just an over sized rubber band I was dripping sweat.
