So I was flying home from Ontario this evening (sorry for the absence, btw) and I was watching the Olympics due to lack of better programming.
Jimmy Page is apparently going to be at the closing ceremony for the Olympics on Sunday. Not sure what timezones you all are in, but where I live, it's on at like 3:30 am or like 7:30 am, so I gotta set my alarm for that. It didn't say if he was performing or not, so I'm holding out for a performance.
BAHAHAH that was all I could think about on my way home. I kind of did a jaw-drop when they said he'd be there. A) He's not an athlete, never was (I think), and B) its in Beijing. Wtf? He's british.
EITHER WAY, WATCH IT OR IMMA... I dunno. I guess it just sucks if you don't watch it haha.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, just figured out that Jimmy will be performing with Leona Lewis, an up-and-coming pop singer of "Bleeding Love" fame.

Electric Magic B) its in Beijing. Wtf? He's british. that's because Britain's doing the next summer Olympics-it's a connection sort of thing. At the end of '06 winter Olympics in Turin, they had Avril Lavigne, a Canadian. rofl-I'm watching it now-when Jimmy scrunches up his face and his eyes, he almost looks Asian. Great performance, but other than her singing, did not at all have a live feel to it.

Haha I understand that now, but when I first heard the announcement, I was like, what does he have to do with China? Maybe it's because he's like 1/8th asian? Bhahaha. I like how they made him the performer as part of 'britains culture'.
Ugh. Avril Lavigne is totally NOT a good representation of Canada. They should have made Rush perform.

woot-that's what I was thinking-but Canada has so many mainstream artists, old and new
Rush, BTO, Guess Who, Tragically Hip, Neil Young, Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Michael Bouble, Roch Voisine, Celine Dion, Barenaked Ladies...etc.
and that ivd got removed before I could see the full thing, since i had to get off the computer-I got as far as the first chorus...

Yeah no kidding. They just wanted someone new and in the current pop mainstream.
Well, Jimmy was the only one worth watching anyway. Leona did not fit the song well.

I KNOW. I was having a horrible day, was in the middle of a panic
attack and was just trying to calm myself down. Sit down at the
tv to distract myself, turn on the Olympics 'cause nothing better was
on, and out of nowhere BAM Jimmy Page. All I could think of was
"Do these asians even ******** know who Jimmy Page is?".
